I would look into staying at Bourg St Maurice, funicular access to Les Arcs with loads of great cross country tracks a proper town for the wife with swimming pool for the children. Also good access to Italy and Annecy for days out. Tignes and Val are just up the road but can be very bleak if the weather is bad but great when the sun shines.
Have you guys had them removed under the NHS? I have been told the VV I have on my thigh can only be removed if I pay for it! and that I should continue wearing the compression socks.
If you cannot make your mind up with who to go for my apartment in Ste Foy is vacant. Trails in both Ste Foy and Les Arcs are great Tines and Val d'Isere are also only 20 minutes from Ste Foy.
My son sails a 29er and his water bottle is tied on with a length of bungee cord. He can then take a drink and throw the bottle back in the boat whilst concentrating on sailing the boat instead of trying to put the bottle back in its holder.
I was in Lake Garda last summer as my son was doing the 29er worlds, (boats not Bikes)ans we were camping between Riva and Torbole.July and August hard to find a place to stay. Eating out is a lot less than France, Pizza/Pasta €6-9 . Ice cream to die for big tubs for €2.50 washed down by a large carafe of the local red wine.
All the trails are very well marked and all the local bike shops will provide you with maps of the trails. I would rate Garda way up there ahead of the mountain resorts and this from some one that owns a property in the French Alps!!!
I have just bought one of these and it should be here by the end of the month. http://www.hongfu-bikes.com/Products.asp?Id=405 I built a road bike last year and the quality of these frames are superb for the cost.
I ride the Dengie marshes in Essex for most of the year apart for a week or ten days in the summer when I visit Ste Foy, and sh1t myself when trying to ride down some of the slopes I boarded during the winter. Planning to bring my road bike at Easter as I am in training to do the Marmotte in July followed by Ste Foy's single track.

I use UK2.net since I first set up our website this is the only company I have ever used so do not know if they are good or bad? Has anyone else used them?

Why not try Ste Foy, Sandwiched inbetween Les Arcs and Tignes with excellent uncrowded trails for all abilities in Ste Foy you will not be disappointed.
Some of the passes in the Tarentaise do not open until mid-June and a lot of the North Facing slopes will still be covered in snow. Down in the valleys though will be clear with temperatures you would expect at that time of year.
