We've got Haro F2 and X2 for example. Should be £250, could get down to £180 to sell off stock so maybe your local shop could too? They might want to try to make a living though, which shouldn't be such a bad thing. They have 25/9 gearing, which is what you want.

We hire out bikes for cheaper than that and the money you spend can be used against a bike in the future.

Clothing is not too bad to be fair – no complaints there but I always give away margin by discounting, d'oh! We have Gore, Craft, Smartwool and a wee bit of Altura. It's just you can't expect to sell everything, which is fair enough – the margin has to be fairly high therefore to get your money back because you cannot sell every garment as you need the people who want that size in that colour!

We had been waiting for them from Zyro (the distributor) forever. Sick of getting treated like that. Concept good and looked an option but backup may well be sadly lacking from previous experience.

Dunno. Please let me know when you know. I think I should push drugs and launder the money through the bike shop – it's got to be the only way?!

I should spend some more time on this. You guys have such epic chat, I could learn a thing or two.

Nothing's impossible at ths stage but I was told it would be later in the year, if they do.

They're amazing and I can't wait to get our "demo" one in (well, mainly mine!). Retail at £2999 and £3999 for the XX one dripping with sexy stuff.

That's what I'm talking about. Only bike brand we've got so far who's retaining or lowering prices on most models for next year.

I was pretty surprised by the Lapierres. We have one as a demo bike and because of this, it spends much too much time with me!

It doesn't feel that fast uphill until I realise I scaled the hills without much of a hassle and without fatigue.

    Really like them now.

Try a demo Whyte 19. Blew me away, that's why our demo Whyte 19 is usually busy.

Cheap Commencal one from http://www.freeflowbikes.com ? Supposed to be the secret and seriously cheap.

Not really, I was told by a guy I know in a bike shop who was contemplating buying a Cervelo that his 'trade price' was around £1200, retail on the frame was £2150….by my reckoning thats about 50%

I think I need to start selling different bikes. Nearly 50% margin? From my experience, that's only available on bikes that get reduced so much (because they're not so great?!) that the margin is reduced to normal anyhow.

Trade prices are usually quoted without VAT, while RRPs are always including VAT. Bit of a joke but it hides real margin.

I know it's off topic but I believe that it was quite a statement and should be answered.

Hey cynic. Ride it, make an opinion at that point. I don't comment on things I know nothing about.

Luckily for you (and those who still have the odd one left) you may no longer get a chance! They've gone bye bye.

Amazing bikes (apart from the carbon ones). You shall never understand how well they climb. However, the people running it were a little…hmmmm…not so nice in their dealings… Is that a good way to put it or should I be blunt?

Just read the post above – ASR-7 is very similar and kinger's right.

I was going to say Transition Covert! The guys I've sold them to rave about them and from my experience, they are amazing downhill and yet climb insanely well (that last bit was a shock I have to admit!)

Cos he's a plick and has been for a long time. Sportsmen such as Ullrich, Armstrong, Indurain and (maybe) Cancellera are not as prevalent as they were?

I've got an idea, and as I think I know the mother b1tch, this might be good revenge (!). Steal his car key, put his registration number on the keyring and where it is parked and fling it somewhere. If he has a bike rack key or anything else attached to it, then all the better.

Can't think where I got that idea from.

You can get a cat scarer – it makes a high-pitched noise when cats come close. White ones are generally deaf apparently so don't always get scared away and some try to square up to it. However, it mostly works – no more crap in my veg patch and they're not about as often (and certainly not in that part of the garden) killing the birds.

Yes, Lairig Ghru worth it! Go up climb next to ski road. Go round Loch Morlich, go onto track up to Rothiemurchus Lodge, trudge/ride up to Lairig Ghru, go down, round Loch an Eilein etc. Nothing scary but good fun.

Blue is pretty sweet. I demoed the customer's bike last night, which is totally backwards but fun nonetheless. I found it to be waaay too small for me – I'm 5'11" and was on the medium. I would definitely need a large. Even though I was mostly petrified on it, I got an idea on how amazing it would be if it wasn't like a child's bike underneath me.

I think I'm UK and British too. Cool. I know a few people who have escaped to Australia because of lack of ethics and pure laziness. Seems a bit extreme. Sometimes one should step into the searchlight instead of escaping to a prison colony.
