Of course, the fact that you are asking shows how little you know about the effects of damping etc on ride – not least on the same fork model let alone 2 different ones.

I’ve forgotten more than you know about bikes mate.

So, would you care to tell me how I am to compare two of the same bike with a different fork length, without actually changing the forks?

2 different forks and possibly 2 different bikes? Loads of other variables then

    Loads of other variables, really?

No, a 2011 five with 36’s set to 140mm, and a 2012 Five with 140mm 32’s both in the house at the same time. Like I said the A2C was 10mm different and it was very noticeable.

No other variables other than the forks, and your inability to read what I wrote.

*** The only thing you are changing is the forks, the rear sag settings are the same, your head angle will slacken.

The lack of intelligence never fails to amaze me.

Nicolai should take a leaf out of Nukeproofs book.

This kind of thing does wonders for Hope’s reputation!

Is there a business model based on making stuff that fails then being really good at sorting it?

Nothing wrong with Hope parts. After reading that “how do you clean your bike” thread the other day, I’m never trusting anyone’s opinion on here again!

make your mind up flow, either the rear end sags keeping the angles the same, or it was very noticable – cant have your cake and eat it… or maybe you* can….

No matter what forks you have the rear end sags.

If you fit longer forks it will make it slacker.

Which part of those two statements confuses you?

Whos – get the cheaper 140revs, as no mortal* will notice the ride difference.

I’m a mere mortal, you just don’t have a clue.

10mm static difference is more like 7mm when sagged, so less than half a degree steeper head angle

Except his old forks sagged too, making it all relative. And the rear end sags keeping the angles the same. So no matter what, adding a longer fork will slacken the head angle.

as above, many claim they can tell!

I can. I had 36’s set to 140mm on my Five, then a Five with 140mm 32’s. There was still a 10mm difference between the two forks at the same travel, and it was very noticeable.

Yup…i.e. **** all – unless you are a riding god, which many on here are!

I don’t know about you but I can feel the difference and I’m no riding god. That makes you no good and me average.

Roughly half a degree head angle difference if they are the same make

Flow thats pushing the point a tad far (depending on how you mean), you may prefer SP’s but suggesting that a system that relies on anti-bob shocks to stop major ineffiencies in the ride, can hardly be described as the best.

And none of the other designs do?

I said its the best set up in my opinion, taking all things into consideration.

Never ridden a single pivot bike before and interested to see how it feels.

    Best suspension set up IMO

Is there a new set of brakes out called Evo after Tech? Am I misunderstanding that?

They are now Tech EVO X2, M4, V2 etc instead of just Tech.

Found another bit of interesting information this morning.

Mirtazapine, the anti depressant I am taking, causes blood sugar/insulin problems in patients.

    Will be stopping that then.

If we lost LBS’s, I don’t think it would make much difference.

People mostly buy parts online. 99% of the time you get bikes cheaper online too.

Servicing is stupidly easy, even forks/shocks. If you can’t service your bike yourself you need to get learning, save yourself some cash!

I suppose one thing is, you wouldn’t have shop race teams. People have to start somewhere, without them, what would happen?!

I have always had VAG cars. When I sold the A3 TDI I thought I would look at other makes, problem was none of them drove as well, were as nice to be in etc.

Ended up buying the same car with a different engine, even the same colour 😆

    Why wouldn’t I?

Would it be better if I just accepted everything any random stranger told me on the internet? Not disagreeing with you, just sceptical of your claims that a failure is ‘likely’, that’s all. Is that allowed?

Yeah thats fine, just don’t continually talk to me like I don’t have a clue what I’m on about, it gets slightly irritating. Is that ok?

Maybe 15 years ago now, I was burgled. Amongst their haul was a large Sony CRT that was several years old.

It was a few days later when a neighbour asked me if it was my TV in the back street. Checked and, sure enough, there it was. The case was split in two, they’d obviously got it out and then dropped it (it was a ton weight). In the meantime, it’d done nothing but pour with rain.

I scraped it up, poured several pints of water out of it, and brought it in. Stripped it down, dried out what I could, then left it in the front room with the heating on for a week.

Put it all back together and, after a few false starts and a bit of fettling, it worked. I got another three years maybe out of it before the power supply gave up the ghost and I replaced it with… another big Sony CRT.

    Indestructible is right.

We have been thinking about replacing it to be honest, and it will definitely be with another Sony.

Sceptical. The DMF is there because of the higher torque. Are you saying that it is very the DMF fails on every car?

Why do you have to question everything anyone ever says?

New petrols have DMF’s too, compared to diesels the amount of failures are extremely small.

£100 is give or take 16 gallons and 469miles in 16 gallons is 28-29mpg. I think your sums are wrong somewhere! My 3.0 tdi does +40mpg even more if you stuck is a 70mph with the cruise on.

    There and back sorry

Thats nothing, you should have seen what it was like before I cut most of them out!

I will do, does me good to air my problems on here, saves everyone else having to listen at home 😆

How are you getting on with the thyroid thing? Are they not treating you?

I will get you banned? I’ve never reported anyone, if that’s what you mean!

Well it was either you or TJ. I don’t care TBH, did me good getting off the internet.

From my house to my girlfriends grans in Scotland is 469.6 miles. It cost us pretty much dead on £100 to get there, £20 cheaper than the diesel. The only reason I can think is the petrol has cruise control, the diesel didn’t, therefore more accelerating and braking etc.

I’d love to know what the chance of a DMF, DPF or injector failure is inside say 100 or 150k miles…

Very likely on a diesel because the increased torque kills DMF’s.

get the right diesel knocks spots off petrol

Until something goes wrong, thats the whole point.

Unless you are doing loads of miles a year its pointless owning a diesel.

Well done on hopefully getting to the bottom of it! I think one can get so used to aches and pains that they cease to register so you did well to observe the pattern.

Thanks, hopefully I will be on my bike sooner than I thought.

Just out of interest (ahem) did you have to explain to your new GP why you switched? Curious cos where I used to leave, I questioned his diagnosis and was told see another. Keep thinking there is an acronym on my records. Not sure if my new GP is taking me seriously either.

I didn’t say anything to this one at all other than a brief history of the symptoms, the stress I was under, and my current symptoms now. I have found they take you very seriously before they see your noted for some reason (she doesn’t have mine yet)

How do you manage to find time to eat six meals a day? One thing though – the carbs you’re having – are they refined?

I’m still not back at college so I have plenty of time to eat 😀

I am still eating mega healthy though, complex carbs, veg, fruit etc. No refined sugar, simple carbs, caffeine, alcohol, or processed crap.

Still taking supplements too, but found that vitamin B5 is extremely important for hormone production so added that, and chromium helps regulate blood sugar so added that too.

    Current supplements are;

    4000mg Vit C
    240mg Cod liver oil
    1500mg Vit B5
    500mg Magnesium
    200UG Chromium
    Acidophilus

Does anyone get really cold in the winter, I mean even in doors with heating on and layers upon layers of clothing?

I have read that could possibly be thyroid or adrenal problems. Look into it, theres quite a lot to read.

Be careful Mboy, rub Molgrips up the wrong way and he will get you banned.

I did exactly what you are on about. Had an Audi A3 2.0 TDI, sold it and got an A3 1.6 FSI. Its damn slow but not that much worse on fuel (infact it was better to Scotland and back), and like you said a hell of a lot cheaper to fix if it goes wrong.

No DMF, DPF, turbo, diesel pump etc

We still have a 28″ Sony that I bought about 5 years ago. This thing is indestructible. It has broken loads of times then fixed itself!

Its either bar angle or shifter angle if its bike related.

If its injury and illness related I have no idea.
