completely buggered my a levels too. big mistake, really limited which uni i could go to and even a lot of the engineering type job now ask for your a level results :|. In hindsight i have no idea what happend to me through college. hated every day i had to go there, no real friends, and i didnt really know what i was going to do afterwards so had no motivation. even so i went to university as was expected and it is flipping ace!

its shit at the moment but it gets a lot better.

well, they couldve increased the wall thickness on a 31.8 bar for the same effect, but then everyone would be saying how heavy they were. you cant win.

and in fact that just what the editor of the mag said as well…

no but the suspension curve of a single pivot system lends itself better to the maxxis range of tyres. Hense why the Giant mystro linkage works better with the kena or Bonty tyre range.

    top trolling

Im sorry but that just looks gopping. not because its an orange, not because its a 29er, just the paintjob looks like crap. might look better if it was sparkly gold but that just looks like cheap spray paint gold. i hope to god it rdes better than it looks, and if youre that loaded to piss this much money up the wall to have something ‘unique’ then good for you.

TT bikes are generally heavier due to focusing more on aerodynamics. another reason to be not as quick uphill.

i had a pap ride to :? bike was bouncing all over the place, my balance sucked, cornering was all wrong and i almost went over the front on jump that ive done loads before…

good job on loosing the pounds OP. getting fitter lets you enjoy the ride so much more :-)

also, get them from germany unless you really dont want to. i picked up an slx 10 speed triple for £75 posted the other day. funnily enough the 10 speed was 20 euros cheaper than the 9 speed one. took it out today with everything else being 9 speed and it worked fine.

Float, obviously you wouldn’t cut the very hard BB axle, you cut the soft alluminium chainset, split it and bin it.

    obviously…

    lol.

yeah pretty good i guess. plenty strong but just not really wide enough now a days. running a 317 on the front of my bike for a couple of years and its still running straight as the day i bought it. its never seen a spoke key in that time either and im no mincer. maxxis minion 2.35 fits on there nicely size wise.

cutting through a BB axle takes ages, and I managed to get through 2.5 blades in the process when i did it a week ago…

i dont like alot of travel on hardtails, so it will be run with a max of 130mm travel, but to be honest most of the time it will be 115-120.

this says on one 456 summer season to me. unless you like steeper headangles.

if youre not good enough then these sort of things look massive, i can appreciate that (we were all there at some point), but you dont need to be a riding god to be able to do it pretty easily. dont feel you have to do it, but doing it will make you a better rider.

a small thought i had the other day about this forum and all the threads asking which orange 5 should i buy: A better bike makes you go faster, but it doesnt make you a better rider. stuff like this, that takes actual riding experience, will still freak you out like they did before no matter how much travel you have.

    pardon the ramblings :-)

ooo theres some crackers in there i wouldnt mind owning. ive got a soft spot for those massively tall bikes as well… *goes off to check if feasible for a summer project*

cool idea for a film. would i be right in saying its a bit like breaking bad in that ‘guy has fatal illness and decides the law doesnt apply to him’ ?

    float
    Free Member

    No it’s not.

yes it is. more enjoyable could be argued, but it is definitly quicker. anyway, when i go out for a bike ride i go out to ride my bike, not take it for a walk, thus the granny ring stays.

id get one that goes ‘bring bring’ rather than ‘ting’

the first is the oldschool type bells with the little lever like this that makes lots of rings per stroke.

the other is one of these kind of things where you have to be franticly fliking the lever to get it to ring properly, and they suck, hard.

ive put a new chain on a worn drivetrain and i could turn the pedals and not go anywhere. the chain was just skipping over the teeth of the cassette/chainring (i wasnt sure which, they were both shagged)

it was a bit weird them just missing out a huge chunk of the track, surely they couldve spared one more camera to film the giant tables.

i was impressed with the quality for a live stream though.

the one thing about that video is that with an aluminium frame, you can see that its buggered if you smash the front end hard enough whereas the carbon frame looks fine right up until it snaps in two.

saying that, if i had the money id buy carbon, as id probably never get close to breaking it.

Most are inaccurate because they add in roller wear.

im pretty sure thats what chain wear actually is *waits to be corrected*
