metal road frames can be bent with very little worry. pretty common practise and ive managed to bend a rear triangle straight after being t-boned by a car.

pretty badass. if its reliable then they’re on to a winner.

in a sense its kind of like a dropper seatpost. with the forks at the mo, you can change the travel but it takes some time (like a seatpost QR) but with this new gadget its just a flick of a switch, so you can keep the flow (and stoke and gnar) from the top of the climb.

had a go on a friends verde radia. superb bit of kit. really light, and the thing just felt dialed. i cant think the next one down is too much worse.

riding brakeless; you get used to it and in the skatepark it ‘works’ alright. riding on the road is a bit more leathal, just have to take it easy.

brechfa is always longer than i think it is, with more climbing than i think :-)

super trail though, i suppose the surface is a bit like afan, but cant really remember. the uphills are hard but the downs are well worth it, specially the part with all the jumps and such.

also, the last section on the black is pants. the best thing to do is miss it out and instead ride the last section of the blue trail, gets interesting when ridden fast.

get rid of speedometers and speed limits. drive at whatever speed you feel is safe.

just got hi rise sunline v1 off CRC for £20. even with all the bother theyve been having i couldnt resist that bargain. still waiting for dispatch though…

fixies are fun to ride, but id never ride one on roads as mental as that. you need to be able to stop properly and quickly, something that brakes do better than even the champion fixie skidder.

hes an idiot, but hopefully that’ll be a wakeup call. glad he survived.

yup order time is snails pace for me aswell. but £20 for pair of sunline v1 bars, i couldnt resist :-)

yup, ive also got good lung strength (or whatever the proper name for it is). had to do a medical thing to join the OTC where you blow into a tube and it measures how hard you blow. the guy said they usually do two readings but he felt he didnt have to with me *smug*. i failed the medical though, im colourblind :(

not recommended, but ive got a pair of nevegals that came off my gt avalanche pumped up to 90psi on the commuter. i think youll be ok pumping them up a little over 40 :-)

FWIW i have mine only four clicks down from top speed rebound, so maybe the damper is set a bit slow from stock, still fast enough for me though (i like em fast so they dont wallow over rocky downhills). im 70kg if that affects rebound speed…?

lycra is pretty stretchy, and i prefer to have it tighter rather than loose. i usually go for a small (same waist as you, 5foot10) and it should stretch an extra couple of inches for the height, dont quote me on that though.

for those who wondered if the cables were cut a bit short, I can confirm that they’re fine, they did a full 360, plenty of length there

    delete system 32 :-)

i was going to leave it at that but, yeah. anyway, i suppose yes, while im at uni my computer is constantly on and im doing the same, dicking around achieving nothing, only because its there. i do sometimes get fed up and go out, but not as much as when im not at uni.

i think im pretty good at not using it to procrastinate with. revision is currently getting done, albeit slowly.

I dont get why peoples feet come off flats on rough stuff, must be doing something wrong.

best be trolling :x . maybe for the bike youve got, the speed you ride at and the condition of the trails round by you mean theres no problem with flats. correct me if im wrong.

its horses for courses. its easier to get away with flats on a full sus as the bikes not trying to throw you off on every bump. for this reason im sticking with spds (ive got a hardtail) because when youre riding down something bumpy the last thing i want to be thinking about is trying to keep my feet on the pedals.

so a cyclocross bike with fat tyres?

what a load of chuff, doesnt need a new niche carved out for it.

    massive +1 for plus gas.

used it on ‘siezed’ charing bolts off my old roadbike. i was actually speachless at how well and how fast it worked on these bolts that seriously wouldnt budge a few seconds earlier. im sure its a bottle of liquid magic.
