im with hugor, as an LBS theyre really good. pretty big shop with loads of stuff in stock, and they have mechanics that actually know what theyre doing. never ordered off the internet with them though.

if it were me id get rid of the scandal and the dolan aswell. maybe its becasue im a poor student, but i cant understand why people would want more than one type of bike, ie. two ‘different’ mountain bikes.

lol, ive just put mine on for winter but then it doesnt really get muddy where i ride, it just gets wet.

for gods sake dont spend 3k on an xc race bike! You WILL hate it after the first few rides. the position on them is designed for racing, not for pootling around the countryside and when designing the frame the comfort of it was way down the list of requirements. I cant say what bike to get, but it sounds as though you need to do a LOT more riding before even you know what you want. if in doubt, buy an orange 5, should hold its value if you want to buy something a bit faster in a few years.

ive shot the dirty harry handgun last time i was in vegas. it was insanely badass. the weight of it makes you think its going to be a beast to shoot, but the extra heft helps reduce felt recoil.

that gumtree one just looks like theyve stuck transition stickers to a BSO. dont remember transition ever using that kind of linkage.

never had a problem with crc, both wheels are still true more than a year after buying them.

superstar rims? nice and cheap, just got me a wheel loaded with their downhill rim to stick on the hardtail so Ive yet to see how strong they are.
