Having being involved in a study as they needed some volunteer cyclists at a uni, They’ve done vo2 max test and exhaustion tests monitoring HR and lactate and recovery, got my last session on Friday and they will give me some data on HR and training zones which will be very useful to see how much more I can push myself and stop being lazy.

Rode over from Skipton to top of Buttertubs for Saturdays stage it was a fantastic atmosphere with great banter and very amusing seeing some of the caravan vehicles getting stuck on the last kickup and crowds Achem encouragement :lol:, never ridden in Yorkshire before and my legs certainly felt the 35 miles there and back over some big lumps. Headed to Bishops Abbey for 2nd stage before heading home.

Just got back from my 20min diabetic appointment with my Dr following ECG and subsequent blood tests for liver £ kidney function etc. I walked in to see my Dr with a baffled expression scratching his head whereby he proclaimed I’ve not had this before your results have changed over the previous 3 months your not diabetic and your blood levels have improved. He also expressed concerns over my heart rate which was 40 from the ECG, that was until I explained I cycle and my weight is down to 12st 5.

So brilliant news and I’m on the right track healthwise. :D I can now look forward to being 50 and fit.

I wear my gloves as my bar tape hasn’t any padding but my mitts do and the snot wipe gets lots of use, MTB gloves protect from brambles etc and snot wipe essential, also the amount of time I come a cropper on my mtb and gloves saved my hands I wouldn’t ride without. Stupid question really OP!
