Ferry Crossing over to Ireland should see a number of riders catching up with each other for both Full and shorter distance riders. Quite mesmerising this dot watching. Members of Rhos On Sea Cycling Club organised the race namely Mally Ryan who has done the Trans Continental. Must say it’s been very well organised and everyone who entered signed on at the start.

Bought the 5800 hydraulic groupset sticking with the compact crankset as the 11-32 cassette gives me the same ratio as a 46/36 with 11-28 also not sure about the 5800 hydraulic disc brakes the levers seem massive compared to normal STI levers, what’s the consensus on shimano hydraulic disc brakes, a guy I know has STI levers with TRP twin piston Spyre mechanical calipers and they felt very good and he swears buy them. Do the Shimano ST-RS505 work well especially for CX?

Seeing as Ive gone for Shimano 105 5800 and Ultegra 46/36 crankset I’m stuck on disc brakes wondering if the TRP Spyre twin piston calipers are worth a punt or is it hydraulic all the way if so Shimano (pricey) or are there other options compatible with Shimano STI levers?

No had to pay £799 trying to get over the pain of it, but I sold another bike to even up the odds.

I’ve ordered the frame and sourcing the components decided to for Shimano, just wondered as there are no mudguard mounts has anyone found any mudguards that work with the frame?

Ahhhhhhhh was about to buy the Pickenflick frame at what I thought was £610 its now £799 will have to reconsider my build I had decided on now, I’ve emailed On One to try and appeal to their better nature, should not procrastinate so much.

Talking to a few guys from my club who cyclcross the consensus seems to be shimano groupsets 46/36 chainset, wondering if 11-28 cassette should be sufficient, I’m used to 11-27 on my road bike. Also plan to ride the bike on the road during the winter as well as CX racing if I got a 11-32 I may spin out too much???

Anybody no of any deals to be had on Shimano CX hydraulic groupsets or will I have to buy the bits individually as stock from online retailers seem scarce.

Anymore tips and advice and build ideas welcome.

I see On One & Planet X only do build with SRAM, shame that as I prefer Shimano but lookis like there’s slim pickings on Shimano hydraulic disc groupsets at the moment.

Glad we are not in medieval times as if Singletrack haters would of had her burnt at the stake for being a Witch. I know how Chris Froome must feel with the French press and haters judging him.

Great martinhutch I can plot the route on Garmin Connect or Strava.

If anyone has any rides they can point me to on Strava or gps downloads that would be a great help.

Good a big up yours to all the F**kwits who signed the petition to get him reinstated, goes to show you cannot expect to abuse & assault people and get away with it no matter how popular you are.

Having an office in a business park there are a number of visually pleasing women and usually get a polite hello in the corridor, however the accountants office down the corridor who often take parcels for me has one very friendly young lady who always insists on stopping for a chat, now she could be just a friendly outgoing person or me being absolutely clueless not picking up on her actually flirting, so to be on the safe side I shall remain blissfully unaware and carry on being awkward around her especially in the tight confines of the shared offices kitchen.

There tubeless so you will need tubeless tyres which are thin on the ground snd pricey if memory serves, seem like a real bargain and DT Swiss have a good reputation although my £120 DT Swiss winter training wheels are pants and given me over 1/2 dozen punctures this winter, never had a problem with my fulcrum racing 5’s and the DT Swiss are a pig to get tyres on and off the rim.

Carbon Road wheels trying to convince myself I need them either Reynolds Assault ones or Farsports Chinese ones, it’s a similar scenario to the scene in animal house with the devil and angel but it doesn’t involve sex.

Getting over the lurgy also on the single malt watching 3:10 to Yuma may venture out as the neighbours meet on a bridge on our housing estate to pop a few corks and fireworks but to be honest I can’t me arsed and dislike fireworks, if the family go I will force myself so they won’t call me a grumpy git as per usual.

I looked at Bonts when buying a new set of shoes and found they looked and felt poor quality when I tried them on and considered this heat moulding to be a bit of a faff which also put be off, I the tried Sidi Wires and immediately noticed the difference in quality and comfort straight out of the box and they were on offer and same price as the Bonts. I have not regretted my decision to buy the Sidi’s and have had hundreds of comfy miles in them.

Came home from work on the 23rd and went straight to bed been there since, only just stopped coughing up phlegm by the gallon. Having to miss a party tonight as just feeling crap. Was going to go to out of ours surgery to see if I had a chest infection but my cough etc has eased. Have managed to eat and now getting fresh fruit down my neck to aid recovery, I’ve drank litres and litres of water so kept hydrated. Not a happy chap!

I live in North Wales so plenty of great MTBing, looking at what I would get for the bike I may hang onto it and give the trails another go and decide then or perhaps give cyclecross a go and if that floats my boat see if anyone wants to do a swap.

While the rest of you argue the morals and circumstances of this incident, I would of been back my bike perusing the t**t on the BMX and dished out some rough justice.

Years ago I went to Cranfield University for a product launch and while we were there we went to an excellent pub that had a fishmongers and butcher inside the pub so you could choose your meat or fish of preference and have ot prepared on there hot grill or BBQ in front of you, was one of the best meals Ive had but cannot think what the place was called. Would imagine HS would have something to say about such a setup nowadays, It was the early 90’s.

Got final Uni Open Day on Saturday then another year and my eldest will be off, it will be sad to see him go but at the same time hes more than ready and looking forward to going. Be interesting to see the effect it will have on MRS FH as she sides with my eldest in all our tifs and disputes, so I am hoping for a more peaceful life when he goes. Should be careful what I wish for though.

The Pro Teams seem to use predominantly Shimano probably because of the reliability ease of use, although I like the look and image of Campag I am put off by the thumb shifter that I had on my first ever road bike Sora shifters and hated it and much prefer shifting using the levers. If I changed from my Smimano Ultegra 6700 it would be for Di2 or perhaps even Sram when they bring out there Electronic system thats currently in development.

Do Campag do shifters with the thumb lever though?

Ok so Rapha attracts Hipsters in droves and its a bit of a city click look at me posers type of brand. But Rapha do have a good brand and their kit is good as well as their coffee based on my Rapha Tempest experience, I nearly got to throw my leg over a Pinarello F8 on one of their organized rides but the lightweights cancelled the ride because of the rain 8O. I don’t like Manchester so doubt I will make a journey especially to visit the store, although I have a couple of events I’m attending in Manchester so if I have time I may pop in or even join a ride.

All the miserable gits having a moan about Rapha is amusing though!

I just told my neighbours that I hate children especially ones with no manners and don’t do as there told, they (the children) give me and my house a wide berth I just smile & wave at their parents who give me rather nervous glancing looks if their little shits are play out ( by their own houses)

+1 what phunkmaster said! Sickening video and easily avoided. Whilst cycling around the roads of North Wales I see many motorcycles going far to fast and taking unnecessary risks the fatalities in the last year are testament to that, you can never prejudge what another road user will do.

This may be a good start for you as I have entered my first ever race The Great Orme Race[/url] albeit the masters race 3 laps but bound to be pretty intense but a nice 6.5 mile circuit on closed road.

I am lucky enough to win a couple of space for a friend & I at the finish point hospitality with friends life at Llandudno, so full access to VIP area lunch and a chance to be up close for the podium. Super excited and hopefully will meet the movers and shakers of cycling and some of the riders.

He went looking for the mugger with a knife that shows intent, because his son was robbed it doesn’t give him the right to kill him. Given the fact he had located his whereabouts using find my phone and went along with his sons I think the judge was fair in his sentence.

Ironman Tri’s would be so uncomfortable on a tri bike/time trial bike or tri bars as the aero position is fatiguing for that type of distance so going into the run I would of thought your likely to have a sore back and neck so again fatiguing and not saving energy plus those aero helmets look uncomfortable. Be interesting to see data on athletes who have done iron mans without all the extra tri gear against their times with all the gear.

Surely a nice light road bike instead of a time trial bike would be better for climbing and faster to do Alp De huez with and better handling on the downs, bit questionable efficiency over aero, so not convinced they are saving that much energy.

What a load of twaddle bloody dog wasn’t under control, squirting it with water is hardly animal cruelty, you should of had a word with the owner and so what if your a dog lover, I am but been chased and bitten in the past my dogs not under control. What if you were out with a child on a bike who could of been bitten. Probably OP trolling but that’s my view.
