It’s a complex situation. The town I live in (tunbridge wells) has a shortage of housing and plenty of wealthy folk. Competition is often made up of either london commuters or those with loans/ gifts from parents. Lots of frustrated buyers has created urgency and competition between folk and in tun has steadily pushed up the prices. I’ve seen this myself over the last 2 years. I’d be willing to put money on the said property easily selling within a month, regardless of whether we buy. It’s absolutely mental!

Thanks folks. I reckon it’s about 15k over a ‘sensible’ asking price. But I guess it’s worth what folks will pay for it and there’s no shortage of eager buyers in the south east. We’ve lost out on several occasions through being too conservative with offers.

Good advice about thinking about it as a business deal. We ARE thinking 5yrs + but it’s bloody impossible to know what the market is going to do…

It’s a lovely street and properties are selling v fast in the area. I actually could see us enjoying the house, but it makes me wish I had got in there when it was last on the market.

To the credit of the vendor, they have spent a little bit of cash. In my completely unprofessional layman’s view I would estimate about 8k on a bathroom, insulation and some other bits and pieces.

If it all starts going haywire take a brief timeout and break tasks down into mental lists. This might help you structure things better.

Hypnotherapy can also help some people overcome problems and might be worth considering.

Good luck buddy 🙂

Amazing game, probably my fave ever after Deus Ex. Completed most of it after 160hrs of play, with the exception of a few achievements. It did become a bit samey after about 80hrs, but still enjoyable.

Having a break from the Xbox before Witcher 2 next month. Now that game looks amazing!

Future sound of London – Lifeforms … It just hasn’t aged which is very difficult to achieve with electronic albums and is a truly stunning piece of work to boot.

This is a really useful summary of Lymes disease in the UK. The link to the US paper detailing best practice and gold standard tests for Lymes is particularly useful – worth printing out, reading and taking to the GPs.

That’s a really good overview.

If you do undertake a long antibiotic regime, don’t forget to eat a low yeast and sugar diet (ie keep off the alcohol!) and supplement with probiotics to re-colonise your gut.

This is a really important point for anyone taking antibiotics for an extended period. Cut out sugars and yeasts otherwise Candida will strike and that’s hard enough in itself to get on top of. Symptoms are almost as bad as Lyme too. Nasty.

No worries buddy, good luck!

flow – good luck with the test tomorrow.

Like grum says, the NHS ELISA test is considered unreliable. If you do come up with a positive, then a month of antibiotics, which is the standard NHS treatment, may not be long enough to cure you. You may come up with a (false) negative, in which case you will get little support from your GP.

If you strongly believe it is Lyme (if the clinical symptoms support a diagnosis and you and your GP have ruled out other possibilities such as candida, lupus, etc) then do yourself a favour and get it looked into privately. If you have the finances to do so of course 🙂

ILADS is very good for information on treatment protocols and options. This is a good starting point.
Eurolyme is a good source for asking questions about symptoms and where to get treatment

Do you recall being bitten by a tick at any point?

I would suggest a graded return to exercise. You might have to stay off the bike for a few months. Swimming and saunas are a good combo for building yourself back up again. Speaking from experience here.

What antidepressants are you on? I found amitriptyline to be helpful (I had ultra-low doses to help with sleep and the flu-like aches).

I thought the way Warner was talking a few weeks ago sounded like an unofficial goodbye from freecaster, not cool.

http://freecaster.tv/mountainbike/1017572/santa-cruz-course-ride-presented-by-fox-racing-shox-world-championships-2011

Anyone notice how Warner crashed into the Rocky Roads banner at 1:37?

Bit of a subtle dig at the WC sponsors for next year? Have they cut funding for the Freecaster team for 2012?

Future Cop: LAPD

Epic, intense 2 player co-op and VS games. Amazing gameplay for it’s time (1998) but never heard anyone else mention it. Was it a big game? Think I picked it up in the bargain bucket for a fiver. Good times…

Hmm, very useful feedback, cheers. My main concerns are competence and efficiency. I’d like to think I wouldn’t have a problem turning around and saying no if I felt pressured.

I might investigate a local broker, but they seem to tick the boxes so far.

A colleague at work is in and I have to say, from what I’ve seen it is very good. However, these things obviously come alive once your online network has joined (i.e.friends).

They have seen Facebook’s achilles heel… That is Facebook’s mediocre design and usability, as such Google have approached it from a very user friendly and design led angle.

Will be really interesting to see how this develops.

Many professional nutritionists will advise you to balance every meal with carb, protein and fat. In other words, you need more than just porridge for breakfast, as although it might be considered ‘healthy’ it is lacking in fats and protein if you mix it with just water or semi-skimmed milk. The advantage of balancing carb, protein and fats is that it will slow digestion and make you feel less hungry.

“Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper” and you’ll be reet…
