Just arrived in from the event and as a spectator, I have to say that was amazing. Incredible, friendly and uplifting atmosphere, beautiful weather and some of the best organisation I have come across.

It looked like such a fun course to ride, plenty of climbing, lots of well designed technical set pieces and no shortage of passing places.

Bresset looked as cool as a cucumber all the way. Annie was giving it her all, but you could tell that she wasn’t going to keep pace forever. Maybe Rio?

Well done to all the personnel, racers and crowd. Bloody good show chaps.

Sadly Woffle’s recommendation is now enjoying retirement, but a thoroughly nice chap I have to say. Does anyone else know of anyone?

Man alive! Exile! Bloody hell I’d forgotten all about that game… It was awesome sauce…

I remember the robots being hard as nails. Tricky game for an 8 yr old 😀

Would a remake be worth it? It was good for the time, but now?

A lot of games i just couldnt see working as a modern remake without either having comparitively dull gameplay or changing from the original significantly. But if there had to be one….

Take him for a pint on his birthday. Drive to the Specialized concept store on the way (or any other bike shop), that way he gets the surprise and the right bike for him?

Fabia VRS – Great mid range torque, chip well, diesel but plain looks
Mitsubishi Colt CZT – I’ve got one of these. Roomy and rapid, fuel efficient when warm and driven with a light foot, realistic 40+mpg on motorway runs at 70, more at 60.
Smart Brabus is also a good call (similar to the Colt as they are built at the same plant)

Take a pic for records. If it is suspected Lyme disease it will need 30 days of antibiotics as per the ilads guidelines http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/treatment_guidelines_summary.html (see sec23 of PDF download).

It’s not unheard of for some docs to prescribe just 7 days which is by some accounts not long enough. A good quality probiotic is a good idea to ward off any unpleasant side effects.

Has anyone had a look at the Weyland Industries website?

As a web designer, I’m blown away. It’s a beautiful piece of work (doesn’t play nicely with iPad though – tut) There are some lovely teasers in there. I love the Back to the Future reference. Points if you can spot it!

Only remembered this on Sunday evening, did a full run through the beta, all worked finem good fun Best Diablo game yet imo, although multiplayer did become an utterly nuts spam fest, even at level 10.

Agreed! Bloody ace too! On my ‘to buy’ list.

When I’ve actually been able to log in it’s been running beautifully. Not sure what the issues are that they’ve had, but I’ve not noticed anything (other than the servers being taken down).

Having the same name as the protagonist really ramps up the creep factor. “Alan, behind you!” *argh*

Ha, yes, I can see how that might be a problem! 😀

No mention of Diablo III? That’s out in the next couple of weeks. Open beta is on this weekend only.

I’ve just been playing this for the last 4 hours or so. Rather enjoying it so far. Nothing new in any way shape of form, but quite a polished feel and it’s rather addictive. I think 2-3 players is a better balance than 4. Witch Doctor is probably my fave character so far.

I do wonder if it will get old within a couple of playthroughs though.

It’s really ace! One of those ‘just one more’ games. Playing with friends is a total blast. Haven’t had that much fun since we used to play mashed (vs driving game a la micro machines – but more dirty)

Ended up in fits of giggles when someone would bail early to try and beat us to the line (its like an ejector seat) only to fall short by a hair’s breadth as we sail past to win. They end up as a humiliated twitching wreck 😉

There are some amazing games out, no doubt about that. Some of the recent releases have really raised the bar in terms of production and quality for me. A lot of good ones have been mentioned, but these are the ones that have rocked my world. They might do for you too…

Skyrim.. One of my fave games ever. So good my OH is hooked. And she is most def not a gamer.
Deus ex human revolution is another good one. Nice balance of action, rpg elements and plot. Graphics are decent. Cheap too.
Alan Wake is very original and has some great graphics. A little spooky in places, but not jump out of your skin scary like dead space. For the sake of one’s blood pressure that’s a good thing.
The Witcher2 comes highly rated and is a visual stunner. On my wish list.
Resident Evil 5 is great fun coop with a mate. Single player is ok, but def best played through with a friend. One of my fave coop experiences.
Portal 2 … Just a quality game all round.

Alien is a classic. Bladerunner is a masterpiece. This film will be forgotten about in ten years. It’ll have as much atmosphere as a bag of piss in a microwave.

    This ^

I’m excited about a new film, but the more I see the trailers the less enthusiastic I become. Part of the appeal of the previous Aliens films was the dark, dirty atmosphere. It drew the viewer into the claustrophobic environment. So far the trailers haven’t conveyed enough of that.

Alien had a clever simplicity to the design of the Nostromo set. I loved the way it portrayed the living areas as white and sterile, whereas the Alien stalked the darker areas of the ship, covered with black walls and dim lighting. This really cranked up the tension when the crew ventured into these areas. Simple methods which were very effective imho. I hear that Prometheus is going to use less CG, more special effects, so there may be hope here.

The costume designer seems to have gone for a very clean, sterile look to the suits. I’m not convinced by this. It’s not unlike something from the game Mass Effect. Even Alien, with the basic white suits, seemed a bit more unprotected and vulnerable.

It’s all very well having great camera work and script, but if the environments and costumes aren’t spot on then it will miss the mark for me.

    Let’s see.

Decathlon in Stockport is your closest store (to Bradford?) if you want to check one out.

Definitely make sure whatever cycle scheme you’re on has got them on board otherwise it could be a wasted trip.

    If it’s http://www.cyclescheme.co.uk/ then you’re ok…

It’s definitely useful to get your experience with L&C RH. In hindsight as a FTB I would have gone to see a decent Independent MA, but L&C have generally come highly recommended.

Concerns have formed over the last week similar to what you have experienced and I’ve not found the advisor’s advice that insightful. The range of mortgages he had available compared to what is on the market seems quite restricted. Although to his credit he was helpful. I guess it’s a bit of a lottery as to who you end up dealing with as a contact to some extent.

We have now got an agreement in principle with YBS and are going to see where that takes us. Application going in Monday. Fingers crossed everything will be ok, it’s out of our hands so need to keep reminding myself that there’s no point in worrying about it.

Cheers folks. It’s actually got some great trails in a quiet little wood 30 secs from the front door, so all in it’s a winner. Despite it being 20k more than the vendor paid for it 18 months ago, in the grand scheme of things I think it’s what we had accepted was a solid deal in the current local climate.

Fingers crossed completion goes smoothly. Any tips for a first time buyer with regards to solicitors, etc?

Perhaps you should take a look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself whether you’re still the same guy she met.

    ^ this

I would suggest doing some activities together. Maybe some longer walks or similar?

Alternatively, if you want a serious chat then turn things on their head and ask what *you* can do to improve the relationship. This way the emphasis isn’t just on her, but be prepared to hear things you weren’t expecting. And when it’s your turn then try suggesting that you’re worried about her health and would like her to eat a bit more healthily and be a bit more active. Actually saying she is fat is not going to do her self-esteem or relationship any good!

Just had an offer accepted for 15k less than the asking price. I’m satisfied that it’s a pretty fair deal all round, so we’re chuffed 🙂

I had a 1989 Citroen ax. Electrics were dire. Switching to full beam used to turn off the lights altogether in wet weather. Garage couldn’t work out what was wrong.

Ergo all French electrics since 1989 are inherently poor. Case closed. HTH 😉

3:19 Why does he not just go past him? Perfect opportunity. Instead he chooses to loop back on the trail to end up behind him again? Bumblebee guy was blocking the trail to the right so he could have cruised by end of story…

    This^

No idea why he didn’t just take the obvious shortcut to carry on with his gnarr crusade and avoid the whole ugly episode. Yes, bumblebee was being a chump but Gnarr boy really was asking for it. The equivalent of poking a Doberman with a sharp stick to move it out of the way and crying when it tuns and chews your arm off.

Testosterone and adrenaline got the better of them both, but gnarr boy obviously feels public humiliation is worth it in order to track down the perp to dish out the comeuppance..
