i used to live in stevenage and have been racking my brain as to a good spot i’d want to leave a car but can’t think of one, sorry. you could try the guys at marshalls cycles. they were always very helpful and may have a spare space somewhere for some beer 😀

a climbing buddy of mine can’t help himself and has to have a dump at every crag we go to. he was completely unfazed by showing his arse to a packed stanage one busy sunday afternoon.

thanks guys for all the responses. I’ve been invited to take it out for a spin tomorrow and really looking forward to it. The insurance quotes haven’t been too bad, but you’re worrying me with these expensive bill stories 8O.

I’ll see how the ride goes and take it from there. Half of me wants to find fault with it but i know that probably wont be happening.

Next thread- how to get expensive purchases past the mrs….

cheers, i must admit my sisters er6f can be more than quick enough for now.

i wonder if a red motorcycle could be hidden behind a red mtb in the garage and not be spotted by the mrs 🙂

Thanks guys, thudbuster abit too pricey and heavy. Was after either another alu or carbon post, but have no idea if any are more flexible than my current Thomson!

i use basically the same method as passtherizla, it served me well during my season and i ended up preping boards/ skis for mates as well and ended up with case loads of beer as payment.

i personally prefer to use a metal blade for scraping. i brought a burton one yrs ago with nice radius corners, go steady with it and results are great. structure base with scotchbrite pad to finish.

course you could be lazy, don’t bother servicing the kit and just straight line everywhere 😀

Hi maurizio, I’m local to you (just north of norwich) and usually ride at bacton woods but haven’t been out much lately but aim too change this.
Have you heard of the iceni velo club, I’ve just joined the forum. They have plenty of rides both road and mtb of which I’m aiming to get involved with, especially the Wednesday night urban jungle ride.

Hope to see another stwer out in the trail.

Mine can be a bit of a pig to start too, which is very annoying. The ms251 is apparently easier to start, which would be a relief during long sessions.

Last week my 4 year old girl asked, “daddy, can I have a blank piece of paper, I want to make a chart”.
    “what’s your chart for”
“You said, if I keep picking my sister up by her head it will come off”
“can’t you just stop picking her up”
“no and how many times can I pick her up”

My local shop said they we’re happy to sell me the nipples, but won’t touch it afterwards, if it needs them to tension it. So guess its down to me then, especially as they have a 2 to 3 week wait for workshop time.

Thanks for the replies chaps. I’m thinking I could give it a go first and at least change the nipples. The wheels are off my xc bike and don’t take a hammering, so probably a good set to learn on and it give me an excuse to make a truing stand.
On a slight tangent is the wheel pro book worth getting?

It seems ti be a bit of a grey area. If she was younger and smaller, she could have used a sky cot. At 16 months she’s too big, so she can either sit on my lap (for 9 hours) I think not or she can have her own seat. Virgin have asked if we require the safety seat but haven’t said if its necessary or not, they were pretty useless tbh. Just wondering if anyone had any experience of them.

We’ve just fitted 2nd hand granite worktops, as my parents are having a new kitchen fitted. They’re 17 years old and were a pig to remove, but now fitted look amazing. The fitter couldn’t believe how new they still looked. I don’t know if there’s much 2nd hand stuff on ebay!
Re: corian etc I personally wouldn’t touch it. Yes its amazing how damage etc can be repaired but imho it marks too easily. My Mrs would wreck it and I’d have yet another job to put right.

Grab an OS map and explore from mardley heath up towards the east side of stevenage, some nice bridleways out there. It was my old stomping ground until last year. Do check out the grinners, they’re a good bunch of lads.

Ok i’ll stop moaning, I now feel shamed by all you soloists. How does the transition area work, is it a case of judge your mates lap time and be there/ ready 10 mins before they return?

Can’t decide which is my favourite as they’re both perfect 😯 especially compared to my nephews, who are both equally despised by all who meet them, even their parents.

Thanks for all the info/ views guys. Will pop into HG and have a trying on session. Really just looking at fine weather kit at the moment, so don’t need to splash out on the goretex kit just yet, but may purchase a cheap one piece for our drought 😯 summer.
Well fitting and as comfortable as possible protection is my priority, as I felt so exposed, especially in town. Had looked at some spada boots and couldn’t believe how thin they were, almost like trainers without any protection.
Finally, why is most kit black. Surely this isn’t the easiest colour for others to see you in.

Cheers for the info, definatley going to look at the textile kit. Anyone use the RST kit, looks stylish and well priced. Helmet wise, the ‘ shark vision’ was a good fit with the largest field if view, which gave me a bit mote confidence re: blind spots.

Fingers crossed all is well …. A few months ago our 2 1/2 year old presented us with an empty (large) bottle of calpol, having drunk 80% of the contents. She’s fine but that was a fun morning in A&E! We later discovered that she could reach the shelf where the calpol had been, by climbing up the heated towel rail. That’ll teach me for taking her bouldering

slight hyjack – are there many riders/ groups in the norwich/ north norfolk area that aren’t roadies. Nothing against roadies just not my bag. Used to ride witton (bacton) woods and haeding up there soon, so looking for potenital riding buddies 😀

as bigbloke says above the led upgrade has made a massive difference 😀 rode for 1.5 hours on medium and high settings and the little hope battery still had juice left. I’ll be out again on Thursday night and will try to get some more definate run times. the light now has 3 settings (no flashing) low is similar to high, pre mod. medium is great for general riding (used this most of the time)and high has completly changed the downhill/ fast sections or just when bigbloke and his ‘dominator’ light are near by 8O.

great service by troutie, as i sent my lights on saturday lunchtime and they were back at mine monday at 10am amazing, thanks chris.
