Brassneck + 1, I struggled through the climb and almost managed to hold onto my beans, but felt much better afterwards 😯

OP, do you still have the old bar? Have you tried refitting and seeing if the oil is getting through to pass the fling test.

I’m sure you’ve cleaned the bar of all muck including the oil holes!

For my two, to start with we set the seat so that they could sit flat footed. After much walking about they build the confidence to build speed and lift their feet. It was a slow process and frustrating at times but then it just clicks and they’re off 🙂 .

Matt, does it climb ok with 150mm forks, not too wandery?

Thanks for info guys, i’ve been mulling things over and reading as many reviews as i can find.
I like the idea of the sektor dual position fork but i’ve read some reports of the dpc version failing anyone suffered from this?
Being a lard ass, (85kg) i’d need a stiffer spring to add into the purchase, which will then bring the spend up to revelation territory, well nearly. How do the mordern rockshox air forks compare to those from say 5 – 6 yrs ago? I was never really impressed with the harsh feel of my old pikes compared to some coil vans I used to run. Maybe it was just me, but after much tinkering I couldn’t find a setting I was happy with.
Finally, I’ve read that it’s possible to retro-fit u-turn components to sektors, anyone know if I could salvage these from my old pikes and use them.
    Cheers

spooky – no, it was def corrosion of some kind, the sort of residue you find on battery terminals.

I can’t really be sure what the forks could have come into contact with. The bike was stored under some dust sheets in a dry brick built shed. There were a few gardening tools and pots etc about but on the other side of shed and all the nasty weed killers, fuel, oil etc is kept elsewhere.
Gutted doesn’t cover it at the moment 🙁

Ok, ok, the stachions are borked but would it be possible to source replacements 2nd hand? Do rockshox share parts across the range or will I be looking for just RS Pike 454 parts?

Hadn’t ridden a trail center for about 5 years until a recent trip to Llandegla and I was amazed at how much litter there was on the red trail. I’d have needed a coulpe of bin sacks to even make a start at clearing it up 🙁 . I came away feeling really pissed off that like minded people have no respect for the hills we ride in.

Did you use the brush in the tester pots and then roller the entire wall with choosen colour, if so, it could be the texture of the brush marks showing through. I’d definately rub it down with some 120 grit paper and re coat.

i was going to sell my full sus frame until i saw what they were going for on fleabay :-(. It would cost me a fortune to replace with something modern, definately a keeper now, even if it doesn’t get used enough (ever).

Yeah i know what you mean and maybe i should think about future proofing etc, but i have a fairly new set of straight steerer forks so not an issue currently.

A couple of yrs ago when took the kids to the states, the youngest was only just 2 and quite small for her age. We had the same dilema of taking the car seat (we took both seats as car hire firm couldn’t confirm availability, even if we had paid for them :-/ ) , in the end we decided that it would be easier for us not to use car seat in the cabin. We figured that by using the seat she would have to sit in one position for the whole trip, instead she could sit, lay down, wiggle non stop and had a great flight.
With all that luggage do yourself a favour and get a porter to help, best money i spent all holiday.
PS we did see someone using a British airways child seat on the return trip, it was massive! You wouldn’t to squeeze past that to many times for a wee etc.

Used to love the paston bash’s that took place at peppermint park, so many great/messy nights 🙂
Went past there a few days ago and it looks like it’s finally been converted into flats after years of being boarded up.

the ‘adam and eve’ pub is a very old and traditional pub with good beers (i’d go there) or you could head round the corner to tombland where there’s loads of places to eat and drink.

just remembered ‘the edith cavell’ is also a nice place to go too.

Just finished building our new log store, we just need to fill it now!
Segregation wise, we build walls with split logs between the bays and round the edges. These are built up a couple of feet at a time and then back filled using the jcb.

OP, I’d just build another store, you can never have too much wood 🙂

whilst on a big job in london about 7 yrs ago, i saw 2 chippies (supposedly mates and well into their 50s) throwing punches and then having a good old roll around on the floor. all because 1 had used the other ones chisel without asking 😯

as others have said above, bouldering is a good introdution without the faff of ropes etc.
started my eldest at windgather rocks in the peak when she was 3 and she often asks to go back there.
i’ve not taken her to the local bouldering wall yet, but will be in the new year 🙂 can’t wait.

we used traps after some mice started taking the strawberries in our greenhouse. used the old fashioned traps baited with grapes (tried peanut butter/nutella but no luck) and had 10+ mice over a couple of weeks. ime there is always more than just one of the little buggers.

tmb476, what shock and frame are you using?

    flip456

Cheers for the advice guys, never knew about shims are they difficult to fit? Still not sure about keeping my shock, I like the idea of a lever to change settings quickly but is it really needed on the 5 spot. I really want to find a way to enjoy this frame for but the current shock set up is pi55ing me off.
    Cheers guys

Yeap, 2nd time for us. Neither of us have done the training we set out to do due to injury, work etc but someone’s got to finish last 😀 oh well we’ll have a laugh and enjoy it if it stays dry, fingers crossed.

Personally I won’t use water based paints for wood work. In my experience they cover poorly and are difficult to achieve a decent finish with. Lately we’ve been using crown and gliden oil based undercoat and satin or eggshell top coat. Flats out nicely giving good results unlike water based products. Decent brushes are also key, try purdy sprigg elites 🙂
Sorry not a fan of f and b either, over priced, poor coverage etc.

Whatever punishment they receive should include a week in the newly installed ‘stocks’ outside 18 bikes 😈

tthew, i’m also going to be using an ignitor on the front and mostly ride similar trails to you 🙂
adam, thanks fella will take a look at the crossmark and ardent. I’m not suprised you tore your tire up, at the speeds you ride at….i’m sure my more sedate pace would be a bit more forgiving 😉

Very little money in moving logs around I’m afraid. Pending how far the wood needs moving, several tons could be as little as a mornings work.

Bit of a theme here re green bars, no replies to my emails either. 1st time I’ve used wiggle and I won’t be returning. Rubbish customer service, at least with crc (and others) you can give them a call.

No news on my green bars as yet. Emailed wiggle but no reply. I knew the offer was too good to be true, oh well

Ordered some of these (green ones) a couple of days ago and just checked the progress online to discover my orders not even been processed yet! Is this normal for wiggle? Haven’t used them before but used to crc’s next day deliveries and was a little disappointed postie hadn’t been today.

hi, i’m based half way from norwich to the coast and try to get out when family ties allow. have a look at the iceni velo website, they seem very active (mainly road but still a lot of mtbers). i’ve been out with them and they’re a nice bunch but i’m currently taking it easy due to recovering from injury 🙁 . bacton woods is my local haunt for mtbing and can be quite busy at the weekends, just watch out for the dog eggs there seems to be tons of it up there at the moment 🙁

pm me if you’re local and fancy a bimble as i’m unfit at the mo.
