Thank you all for your input its appreciated. I know I’m partly to blame in this whole situation and we are making time to be with each other, doing fun things like we used to but things are different between us.
The constant work load of her working 3 or 4, 12hr shifts a week and me fitting in my work around hers, the kids, housework etc etc has left us burnt out and taking each other for granted and feeling unappreciated. I know I’ve been difficult to live with in the past and I am now paying for weekly counselling, which I’m hoping will help.
We’ve discussed the issue a few times and both agree we want to save the relationship, but I have days where its really hard to think of anything else.
Re discovering the flirting, a message popped up on her garmin watch whilst I was replacing the screen protector for her.

I’ve stayed there twice, for week long winter trips and had a great time. A mate owns a snowboard shop and held his kit tests there.
Food is really good, even when catering for large groups (20+) there was plenty of good quality grub. Nice bar/ terrace, comfy sofas and often with live music. I’d definitely recommend it.
A few more hooks/ storage in the rooms to hang kit etc would be ideal, but that’s me being picky.

Any suggestions for a cx bike using mini v brakes?
I’m looking for more coverage than some old mtb crud catchers. I offered up some sks chromoplastics but the v brake noodle clashed. I suppose I could dremel a clearance channel but it might effect the mudguards strength.

Loving this thread so much that I’ve dug my 33 year old grasshopper out of the loft.
I’m thinking of buying new transmitter/receiver, esc, battery, charger etc and making a bit if a project for me and my eldest (11 yr old).
Are the budget electronics ok or is it worth spending a bit more?
Will I need to replace the old servo? My plan is to get this one up and running and then buy another kit at a later date and move the electronics over. My old grasshopper is fairly tired but is fitted with bearings and bigger motor, so it will serve as a good learner for now but I suspect the plastic will have deteriorated and won’t hold up to many crashes. Hence the new kit 😉

Looks like you’ve done a nice job there. If you need to carry out any future repairs, I would recommend Timbabuild EHB60. I always use it when I’m repairing windows. It bonds incredibly well to the old timber once prepped and is flexible, unlike 2 part filler.

I’ve got a Shark vision r helmet and the wide visor is a revelation. I don’t think I could go back to a normal visor now.

Take a look at CC Smugglers. We saw them live last year and loved them.

Pinkster, that’s one of the sets already on my list.
Perchy, my eldest found that expansion pack on forza a couple of weeks ago and has been crazing me about it ever since. Might buckle as it looks awesome!

Hummm that Orient Kamasu is definitely going on the list, although I might save a bit more for the Stienhart Ocean One 39, which is lovely.
I keep coming back to the Citizen Ny0040, real tool like look about it, which I like plus its not going to be available for much longer.

Johnners, nice is that the new mako 3?
I’ve been looking for a cheapish diver and i’m quite tempted by one of those.
I’d like to add an automatic watch to my meger collection. I currently have a swiss Actua from the 50’s issued to Italian artillery officers which was left to me from an uncle. A couple of old quartz ediface things and a beater casio diver that refuses to die.

Thanks for info, will be interesting to hear what Hope say re cost. £50 an end is = to new slx, hummm. I’ve looked at buying the parts and i’m capable of doing it but time to ride is currently pretty low and tinkering is none existent, so I’m erring to send them anyway.

Looks like there’s some corrosion around some of the lever end, hose fittings. I’m assuming these would be sorted too?

I’ve seen the ukfoofighters 3 times at small venues and they’ve been great. So much so that we’re seeing them again in November.

The comments about music are so true, ‘wish you where here’ Pink Floyd brings a tear every time.
gnusmas – fella, you’re an inspiration! I’ve been around a while but don’t often post I’m afraid. Your posts and blog have helped me and the wife through our previous dark times, we took strength from how you managed to keep going, so thank you for sharing.
We hope and know that things should get easier but at the moment it’s hard to see.

I’m going to see it tomorrow and been told it’s really good by a couple of bouldering mates.
I saw Dawn Wall a couple of weeks ago and was blown away by it.

Watching with interest op, as I’m thinking of rebuilding some wheels with those rims.

Well thanks a bunch, there was me thinking I might be able to get us another passat. Hadn’t actually tried the kids boosters in one. Really liked my old one until the Mrs wrote it off. Still I got my own back, as she’s had a Zafira since then.

<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”>So, looks like a Smax is now top of the list.</span>

Watching thread with interest as we’re currently in the market for a new to us family car. Moving up in size from a Zafira, we need space for three kids seats in the back and biggest boot possible. Shortlist is smax, i40, Passat, Mondeo and Superb estates.

We live in the sticks and don’t often use the motorways or sat in traffic and always had manuals. Seems to be high % of autos for sale. Are the Ford Powershift autos particularly troublesome,  heard some horror stories? DSG autos better or just stick with manuals?

I’ve just discovered the website ‘reelhouse’ after a Facebook page, linked me to a deal on a bunch of climbing films. There’s loads of great looking stuff there, might be worth a look.

11 weeks on from my op and I’m still in a fair bit of pain, in both the tear location and from one of the incisions. I’ve had two courses of antibiotics for a deep set infection and still have swelling around the infected area.

Numerous friends have recovered quickly from their own ops which makes my slow recovery so frustrating. I guess being unlucky and early 40s hasn’t aided the healing process.

<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”>I’m finally seeing the consultant on Monday, but not holding out much hope for a quick fix 😕</span>

Had my arthroscopy op yesterday for a complex medial tear. Apparently it went well and was just trimmed!
How were your 1st few days after op? I’ve only hobbled to the toilet a couple of times but things feel very odd in the knee (not really surprising), does it take long to settle down?
I was also surprised to not be given any crutches, just told to rest a couple of days and then start trying to walk around as much as I can, but to listen to my body….
I’m already feeling cooped up but know I shouldn’t rush this early stage of recovery.

I’ll be getting my excuses in early this year, especially as I’m going in for my knee op on the 29th!

I’m definitely going to use some mini v’s on an upcoming rebuild. I’ve been looking at some bling TRP 8.4 over the budget tektros, is there any performance difference?

A mate of mine has a decorating firm who specialise in spraying. I’ve helped him on numerous jobs and even had a couple goes. It’s not particularly difficult and it’s very quick.
But, the kit is expensive, you need a mountain of poly and tape for masking. A van full of dust sheets if you want to keep the carpets or cover the doors.
Paint wise, trade emulsion, thinned by about 20%.
We spray the walls first, then the ceilings but come down onto the top of the wall by a few inches. We then either cut the top of wall in by hand or give a full roller coat. This is because sprayed walls have a very flat finish and can’t easily be ‘touched in’ if marked.
The kit must be cleaned really well at the end of each day, this takes around an hour but is essential to prevent the machine getting bunged up.
Try your local Brewers paint merchant as they supply spray kit and should know of a local sprayer. HTH

It’s not just me that feels like they’re missing out then. If I’m not working, I’m looking after the kids and it seems that everyone else is always out enjoying themselves. It’s getting so bad that the bikes will be heading to the classifieds if things don’t change soon. Full sus hasn’t been ridden in nearly a year and the cross bike since January.
Sorry no help just letting off steam. Hope it gets better for you op.

Watching with interest as I’ve been looking at both these frames recently.
Would I be able to run some 26″ pikes and 26″ wheels with these without any major issues. I’ll upgrade to 27.5 when funds allow.
