depending on the hammock you can go to ground if needs be, not ideal, but it'll get you out of the soft and smelly

going to cost a bit more than £50 to stay warm and dry in a hammock but i'd use my hammock over a bivvy bag every time given the choice

i've got one.
it gives the wife more peace of mind. if i'm out for a couple of days riding in the back of beyond i'll give her a 2/3 "spots" a day just to shut her up but it could come in handy if i were to break something.
she is given my intended route beforehand too.
