Got a pair about 3 weeks ago and have ridden with them for a few 30 milers, personally i think they're awful, idea's right, but i think it might be me that grips the bar at a funny angle with my wrists kicked out, meaning my palms rest on the metal clamp bruising them as i ride the bumpy stuff, so i've taken them off after less than half a dozen rides to be consigned to my spares box unless somebody want to liberate them.
Am now trying the cane creek bar ends, ergo II i think.

Think about it in a car sense, you usual family car has 16 inch wheels but something like a disco/land cruiser etc has 18 inch wheels.
Big wheels are better for off road, end of.
Folk that come on here showing off their wagon wheelers have seen the light whilst you still live in the dark ages and drown witches.

Cavendish seems to have grown up a lot this year.

the HTC team have to put up with Lampre, Garmin and Sky trying to disrupt them for the last 10k at 60kph

you lot are taking the piss,

haven't you seen cav throw his bike on the floor and helmet out the bus because he messed up his sprint.

it's a race, trying to disrupt a leadout train is well within the rules but headbutting isn't

he'd stopped leaning before the last headbutt

    sprinting is a contact sport

boxing is a contact sport, judo is a contact sport, karate is a contact sport etc etc.

do they throw their bikes at each other when the camera's have switched off?

    contact sport my arrse.

leaning in is tolerated by the Commissaires but head butting him back doesn't mean its right, and the block was pre-meditated.

    punishment raised my eyebrows though.

if you are owed holiday you could just take that at the end of your notice period and effectively leave early.

my mrs looked into this a couple of weeks ago and apparently your boss can refuse to accept your holiday request and make you work your whole notice period and pay you for the holiday time you are still entitled too.
Be aware of this law before promising your new boss a start date.

my tarp, bivvy bag and midge netting are about 100g heavier than my laser comp and my Hennessey Hammock is about 800g heavier than my laser comp but the hammock gives me a far better nights sleep than a tent.
i still use them all, just depends what the weather and the terrain is like where i'm going.

but much more comfortable than a tent!

my mrs goes blue in the face blowing mine(fnar fnar) all in one go but i give it a few blast of air then do something else like get changed, few more blows, do something else like start food, last few blows. Done.

worth it over a bog standard thermarest and for the naysayers the reckon it rustles too much, piffle.

i got a stuff sac with mine!!

A newspaper so you can put it in wet shoes overnight if necessary.

disposable nappies will suck the moisture out of shoes quicker then newspaper, however, fellow competitors will not think your a wierdo if you use newspaper.

remove the front wheel and balance the bike on it's forks, then take two small guy ropes tied to your seat rails to make the bike solid. drape the end of your tarp over the bars creating an entrance and peg down. the front wheel can also be used at the other end as a "pole"

give tally a call and ask him as he's running the uplift so he's likely to know the routes.

It's a race, get on with it!
A dog ran out yesterday but that didn't stop them contesting the finish.
Nodody stopped when Cav caused yesterdays crash.

I broke my knee in a race 5 years ago and nobody stopped for me, in fact i heard mutterings about the fact that i was lying on the racing line with my kneecap in two peices, i was in second place at the time.

dont get an isofix seat or one with a base that the carrier clicks into, it'll restrict you by not being able to use taxi's unless you cart the base round and hire cars when on holiday. none of the cars on offer in malta offered isofix. seatbelt option is more versatile.
theres a place in clevedon just by the motorway junction that sells new baby stuff at a discounted rate.
