I hunted high and low for white logos and eventually spoke to the uk importers. OEM only and they couldn’t get any themselves.

What’s a resilient measure for 6 feet of flood water?

Last year my bill showed up a couple of foreign phone numbers so I googled them. One was a gun club in Germany.
Phoned them up to explain that they didn’t belong to me so they said it must’ve been me. It took me nearly an hour to explain that I didn’t speak a word of German and I’ve never shot a real gun in my life so why would I start making calls the this club?
Then they suggested that somebody who could speak German was using my phone. I pointed out that the wife’s best mate was German, AHHAAA they said triumphantly until I pointed out that she lives 140 miles away and I can’t stand her so why would she have my phone.
Maybe it dialled in your pocket? Through a numbered key lock?, Blimey my pocket is clever.
Eventually they agreed to refund me the money for the calls.

    I left them last week.

When my parents were flooded out in Carlisle in the January 2005 floods they were out of their house for over 10 months. ~5 feet of water in the house.
There was still work outstanding when they moved back in October. Once they occupied their own house and the rental house wasn’t being paid for by the insurance company, everything pretty much ceased to happen and my parents gave up fighting. My mam nearly had a breakdown because of this

It’s still not right 11 years later.

They’ve been flooded again in December courtesy of Storm Desmond and are in rented accommodation again. ~6 feet of water in the house this time.
Dehumidifiers are in, kitchen, skirtings, door frames, plaster, etc have all been ripped out and they’re just waiting for it to dry before work starts. IIRC it was ~2 months of drying before anything meaningful started happening.

My advice is to be vocal with the insurance company but don’t be in a rush to move out of the rented accommodation that they’re paying for and use it as a big lever to get things done right.

Used mine at the weekend for the first time.
One size up is fine with a thin “summer” sock. My feet were perfect temperature, held out the ground water(although it wasnt sheeting down with rain), fit was good, sole grip was good.

    Back on topic,
My elderly parents were rescued at lunchtime, they’re on both BBC and Sky news helicopter footage being rescued from the garage roof with the dog.
The closest I could get was about 300yds or so away from the house.
Apparently they’ve had over 6 feet of water in through the ground floor.
I’ll head back down tomorrow morning to see what I can do, probably not a lot.

Greystone road still flooded upto jesmond st (irvings coach depot), was upto Norman st this morning.
Trying to get to my parents house in Brunton crescent, they’re being stubborn and not shifting from upstairs.
Not heard from them since 10.30 yesterday morning so getting a bit worried now.
Penrith MRT organiser didn’t want to send his guys back to check they were OK despite them finding out my mothers on so much medication that she’d give lance a good run for his money. They all packed up and went to the Lint.
Apparently my dad took the dog for a walk on the flat roofed garage!

Flatfish, what is on your garage?

It’s a normal up and over door but with extra bolts and two hungry dogs roaming the garden.
Admittedly, the dogs are likely to piss on your feet with excitement rather than bite anybody.

I have installed dozens in my time and would never have a roller shutter on my garage.

Got mine for £107 inc P&P from Holland

Size is quite small, I’d go two sizes up.
I bought one size up and I’ll only get a thin sock into it but having said that the liner boot should more than compensate for the lack of thick wooly sock.
Not actually used yet as it’s not cold enough.
If they perform as good as they look they should be good.

8,500 people want this outrageous imposition on the rights of motorists to be reversed. Only 3,500 people want them kept. Is this a democracy or not?

Democracy and George Ferguson aren’t two things I’d normally put in the same sentence.

Where are you seeing these extra kids on bikes?
I drive around Bristol for work through loads of areas and I’ve not seen these mythical kids.
Also, why are the anti 20 people “daft buggers”, everybody is entitled to an opinion?

Let me have a dig round later as I’m sure I’ve got a pair that were used for half a ride then filed under way too hot. Virtually brand new.

Had a snowboard stack at easter, resulting in a small bleed to the brain but nothing else.
Advice from French doctors and UK GP was a couple of weeks.
    I managed it, just.

Interesting alignment on Boris’ front light. Not very forward-looking, and surprisingly skewed to the left of centre.

Might actually be his D lock.

Funnily enough I’ve just opened one this morning for my birthday.
    Anker A3143.

Not fantastic sound like you’d expect from a home stereo but for a travel speaker it’s really good.

    I like.

    Wife has a V50 2.0l diesel R design. 09 plate.
If I didn’t have dogs, children and bikes to cart around at the same time I’d have hers in a flash.
Not massive for an estate but still practical to live with.
Posh Ford Focus in all honesty but I like it a lot.
Nothing massive on the repair front other that a new clutch when the thrust bearing died at 80k miles, on 90k now.
Don’t get one of the Eco cars, had one as loan car during a service and it was awful, Gutless.

I’ve been using it for the last 4 months.
Nobody has clicked the link to say they’ve paid the invoice when it’s been processed but other than that it seems ok.
Just got to keep checking any incomings into the bank account and tally them up yourself.
