    @bob summers

Your route us terrible , no one should use that route
Please never mention it again cause I go that way and its usually fairly quiet

You can carry on the A500 and come out higher up the M6 as well

I’ve had 4 kobos and they are OK generally but they do break fairly often

Picked up a kobo simple touch from asda last year for £20 ,bargain

I also have a current kindle paperwhite and so far it’s much more stable than kobos, it’s also quicker and the mail to kindle feature is great

I manage my epubs using calibre which is fantastic

Care to elaborate on reports of cycle service centre/rebound ?

There’s a new suspension servicing place in coppull that I might try but I would be interested in knowing which business the dodgy reports refer too ?

Both my hudl2’s won’t charge until they are rebooted

    Minor annoyance really

    Battery life isn’t great

We have 2 and they still haven’t fully resolved the charging bug
Sometimes they don’t charge up without a reboot

We also have an Asus hd7 and although it has a great battery the hudl2 blows it away. Massively faster , great screen , better sound , cameras

Not much point speccing anything above cat5e
I use the pe outdoor grade as its more robust

Its worth having gigabit switches everywhere though for file transfers , media streaming etc

Preston isn’t the nicest place to live

However there are loads of nice places within a few miles
Look around the chorley area , loads of small villages

Rivington is on my doorstep and theres miles of trails.
Darwen tower and tockholes offer plenty of routes and can be ridden to from the chorley area

I book directly with the hotel and arrange flights separately
Its true that hisaronu is a lot more ‘British’ than OD but theres more restaurants in hisaronu
Its cheap to travel between the resorts
There are people trying to sell you things and get you into their bars/restaurants but its relatively low key

    Dedem hotel in Hisaronu
Bookings are dealt with by a Brit , Angela
Ask for an apartment in the new block
They will sort airport transfers as well if you like

Hudl2 is well worth the money , I got 20 quid off with a voucher
Battery life is fairly poor though

Asus memo pad HD 7 is a good buy , good battery but a lower res screen than
    Others

Dd-wrt cable routers are quite cheap most of the tp link ones can be flashed and can be had for 20 quid

Dd-wrt firmware is useful as there are several methods for restricting device usage e.g. block Internet access per device before 7am and after 9pm

I had an idea you were referring to this junction , I commute into Blackburn in the summer and it’s just as bad going the other way

I try and use the canal towpath instead but its the wrong way for you

I don’t think you will have issues by restarting the router

Restarting the modem is another matter though and I think that would cause DLM issues , not 100% sure though so its probably safer to leave both alone

Anyway my home hub 3 suffers random drop outs all the time on WiFi and when watching BT HD TV channels

I’ve just swapped to a BT business hub 3 and it’s stable so I simply had a faulty router

Simple test is plug your PC/laptop straight into the modem as below

It sounds like you want something like this :-

    https://www.overplay.net/setup/vpn.php#vpn_router

In my view though it’s easier to use their smart dns service , all you need to do is point the PC’s DNS at the one they provide (it’s not free though)

Any cable modem can be used as a replacement for the home hub

Unless you have WIFI coverage issues though I wouldn’t bother replacing it as theres not much point

Also if you have BT vision don’t event think about replacing it as you will lose the HD channels

Some areas are covered by community wireless , generally this means a roof mounted 5GHz point to point link.

Boundless communications cover parts of rural lancashire so have a look if their is a similar setup in your area.

It depends on whether you are looking at north or south Manchester , to the north you have the west pennine moors which you could spend years exploring especially the Rivington area

South you have the peak district

I live about 15 miles north of Manchester and can ride to Rivington , no car required.

    Another vote for Viewranger
I bought UK OS maps several years ago on DVD for an old symbian phone
As mentioned previously amazing customer service meant I have been able to reuse
these maps on the half a dozen or so phones I have had since.

I even run it on 2 phones at once and it sync’s my routes between then , old iphone for offroad
    and newer Galaxy for commuting.

Works well with imported .gpx files if you want to follow a route

Install plex media server on your laptop
Install plex client on your phone
you should then be able to access your songs on the laptop remotely
