    just buy a cheap router

They are often called cable routers and should be under £20

If you want to use the pi though I think you can install open wrt , this should work as well

    1337GB over 3 months !

How are you using so much data?

A free WiFi installation at a bus station I installed uses less than that

    Very impressive

@andreasrhoen , yes it is sad!
I’ve even got slicks on my hard tail and ride it on the roads at the moment.

Thinking about the trails though and I’m a lot fitter after loads of road riding so it’s not all bad

Hated my boss nut , thought it was heavy and slow uphill
Hated the wide bars , felt like I was on a horse
Swapped it for a road bike after 6 months

In hindsight I was expecting it to climb like my 12Kg trek hard tail
And ride like an xc bike which it isn’t

Mostly a roadie now so I was probably cutting back on mtb but the boss nut definitely pushed me in that direction

only been with bulb a few months
estimated bill came through today and gas reading exactly matched the meter!
Electric reading was uncannily accurate as well , just 3 unts out

Found an old call of duty game the other day rated 15
I don’t know if games are just more violent/graphic nowadays but
Lots of games are now 18 rated and earlier versions weren’t

[/quote]Presumably the M42 bit? There’s no cameras on the M6 toll (and they’d be banning every third motorist if there was).

It’s where the toll and the M6 join back together , always a queue on the M6 but not on the toll so even though the road is empty the variable speeds signs come on

Got done coming off the M6 toll joining M42

Variable speed cameras rather than average though

I kind of use a VPN , tunnel all my traffic over SSH to a VPS

Fairly easy to setup and free if you already have a VPS

    Another vote for vivoactive hr

Great device for cycling and fitness tracking

It does have rudimentary navigation , you can save a location and ask it to take you there. Basic and I have never actually used this feature

One point to consider , the new one might be out soon

loads of routes around darwen tower as well which isnt too far away

Rivington/Healey nab is a 30 min drive away

Gisburn forest is about 30 mins away as well

    I have a vivoactive hr

Missus has a fitbit and the social aspect is much better than garmin

Garmin though is much better on the bike though with strava integration

The vivoactive hr doesn’t have a specific bike mode and can’t connect to bike sensors like speed/cadence if that’s important to you

I would look on the DC Rainmaker site , a wealth of information on there

Roads might be getting safer but it’s from a very high starting point

2412 kids killed or seriously injured in 2011 , this is scandalous and way too high

I won’t let my 8 year old out on his own unless I am confident he takes road safety seriously

You can get a bike mount if you really dont want it on your wrist and dont mind losing HR

    flashpaul

I was going to get a fitbit but they don’t integrate well with strava

I ended up with a Garmin vivoactive HR , does everything you want and integrates well with strava
The vivosmart is also quite good but wont connect to speed/cadence sensors if that’s important to you.

Take the bike to this guy in Chorley :-

    http://www.thebikecabin.com/

He fitted a new drivetrain to my bike [parts supplied by myself]
and an XTR bottom bracket [supplied by the shop] for the grand total of £71

I would ask him what parts are required and ask him to give you a price , if it seems excessive ask him for a fitting only price and pop up to merlin cycles and save a few quid.
