Watch out for telephone activated volume license keys , several companies are selling these and they aren’t legal and could be revoked at any time

    Vivoactive 4

Doesn’t have all the fitness metrics of the higher end watches but it’s enough for your requirements and it’s less than £200

Norden near Rochdale looks nice and less than 30mins from haslingden albeit over owd betts which can be tricky in winter

Personally I would avoid living anywhere that meant I needed to use the M6 or M60/M62 , car parks at rush hour

Specifically went for the 4s as it’s smaller
Last watch was a Vivoactive HR which was huge

It was £30 cheaper than the 4 as well

As above , ANT+ broadcast heart rate on the Garmin

The lezyne should pair with the watch , mine does

Strava is one way of pulling all the data together in one place , just link the accounts in the lezyne gps ally app.

Do all your devices support 5GHz ?
Are all your other devices connecting to the 5GHz network?

If they do turn off 2.4GHz support on the router.

If your netbook doesnt support 5GHz use a different SSID for 2.4GHz , that might fix it.

We use 3 at work and I have had dropouts on some routers

Our SIM provider also sent an advisory out saying they were having issues with 3 but this was closed around 3pm

Anyone know if a company car benefit needs to be added to basic salary?

As far as I can work out company car benefit is already taken out in tax and doesn’t need to be added to salary but confirmation would be great

Crowne plaza is ok , not sure if they park off site but your car is waiting for you when you return.

There is a shuttle bus but it’s walking distance to T1 or T3 as well

Great question, I am due a new company car in May and am also wondering what to get. I want to hold onto my Audi A3 1.6D for another 12 months ideally to see what hybrids/electric vehicles are around then

My A3 often does 70MPG and I claim back 10p per mile so I dont know what get next.

I don’t have any advice on how to stop the visual disturbances

I have learnt how to get rid of the headaches from hell though

double espresso as soon as the flashing lights start works for me

in my case stops the headache before it starts

I can answer the lezyne route question

you need to upload routes to lezyne’s gps root site and then sync to the mobile app

Exporting files as .tcx from ridewithgps is straightforward even on a mobile device

I have the super enhanced gps and I think it defaults to north up

i use it on road only though so I am usually following turn by turn directions

I quite like my lezyne super gps

to be clear though it doesn’t have maps stored on the device

it does have turn by turn directions and bread crumb trails which work well

rerouting needs the lezyne app running on a smartphone and a data connection

It’s easy to download tcx files from ridewithgps and then upload to the lezyne website which are then synced with the lezyne app

You do need to use the web version of ridewithgps though I think to extract the tcx file which isn’t great on a mobile. I just download routes on a pc to Dropbox then upload to the lezyne gps root website on a phone

Mac mini should be right up your street

plex for all your media needs

you don’t need to pay extra for Apple kB/mouse , just get a Logitech K400 combined unit

the base model is underpowered so if cheap is the most important bit then look elsewhere
