It’s the penguins’ fault – clearly not ‘fox people’

Seems you have a strong suspicion he was about to ‘attack’ his daughter.

I reckon that makes it time to make a call

flashinthepan  » I made no mention of being offended by it.

And yes, a little bit ‘entitled’ by the guy.

Well now I’m properly confused – you’re not at all bothered by it, but you think it was entitled. Can I just check – what other things do people do which you’re not at all bothered by which you think makes them entitled? Just want to make sure I don’t do anything which offends bothers you think is entitled.

Not unreasonable for him to understand that some people present may have been offended

Ah, so it’s offence by proxy? That explains everything.

You seem ‘hard of thinking’ so I’ll try my best to explain.

Yes there are other things which are not ‘inherently offensive’ but that can cause offence or irritation in the wrong context. For example I enjoy music of many types and am absolutely not offended by it. However somebody playing music loudly from their car stereo in a car park is offensive as it is them ‘inflicting’ their ‘wants’ on the many whether they want it or not. It’s selfish, inconsiderate, impolite and well, behaving like a dick.

Offence by proxy? Well, as I’ve said I’m not offended by the nudity. However there may well have been others there who were or would have been if they’d seen it. I’d call that, at best, impolite from the guy as his actions had the potential to make somebody else uncomfortable in a public space. A potential that he should have reasonably been able to recognize. So although I’m not offended by his nudity, his thoughtless actions do irritate me

    OP here

Seems a few of you jumping to conclusions. I made no mention of being offended by it. I just thought it was a little unusual.

And yes, a little bit ‘entitled’ by the guy. Not unreasonable for him to understand that some people present may have been offended and there are facilities (shower rooms and toilets) 50 metres away (or he could have used his car).

All the time. It’s what I do best.

In fact, think I might do as binners and go right now. See if I can catch the sunset from the top of the Chilterns.

Gotta agree with SaxonRider. The stretch from Dolgellau to Machynlleth and onwards to Aber is not to be missed. It’s absolutely stunning.

Not quite sure of your question Zippy

However, I believe most SS hubs are ‘generic’ rebranded Novatec, whilst the rims are made by Alex. All perfectly serviceable.

From what I’ve heard SS wheel builds can be, shall we say, variable and may need a bit of fettling.

My son has the Nukeproof Horizon plastics on his Mega. So far they’ve stood up very well to typical teenage abuse.

Being yellow ‘all the way through’ also means that even when a bit bashed up they look better than painted / anodized metal pedals. Not exactly important but a nice side benefit

I may also go for a pair of those cheapies listed by Stuey. Can hardly go wrong for £14

I think I’ve camped more or less in the spot molgrips suggests (about 25 years ago!)

TBH, you’ll get away with camping pretty much anywhere in the Beacons provided you’re out of sight from the road.

I like to take a couple of pies and 4 stellas, you never know when you might need them.

I did a similar job last year. Mahoooosive front hedge (might be stretching the term as it implies some level of order) cut down. Prepare for a miserable weekend or two. Don’t underestimate chopping it all up to take it away.

Note: the same tree looks much larger laying down on the ground than when in the ground vertical

I used a mixture of bow saw, axe, panel saw, heavy loppers and a heavy dose of bad temper.

Did I say, prepare for a miserable time? I’d get someone in next time

I bought one as a frameset in 2007, built up pretty lightweight, rode it for years.

Superb bike, just wants to be flat out.

I still have it – though rarely ride it now as at 47 I prefer something a little less ‘energetic’ and, truth be told, the 2007 version is a bit steep at the front. It’s still great for bombing up and down the Ridgeway though

I’ll not get rid of it

Maybe some of us could come at it from a different perspective?

We have gravel. maybe just a little bigger than 20mm.

    It does migrate

It does break up and pack down.

It’s fine to laugh it off in the short term but ultimately you can’t let horrendously stupid ideas go unchecked or they fester and breed in the dark.

And that’s why we have eBikes
