I’m a Christian. I go to church. It makes me happy. It works for me.
I have no interest whatsoever in trying to convince anyone else that it’s what they should do.
I don’t give a monkeys hump what anyone else chooses to believe. That’s their business.

It’s not about who’s right or wrong. It’s about what works for the individual.
I’m done with this thread now because not one single person will gain any wisdom from it.

This should have been the end of the thread.

I’m not religious, I don’t go to church (or a mosque or a synagogue), it works for me.

    YMMV

I’ve a similar situation to resolve with my lads

I think poly makes good points above. Yes, a down bag is useless when wet but a synthetic bag is hardly at peak performance when wet either. Better to get a dry bag (or a couple of bin liners) and keep the bag (whatever material) dry. It’s about learning good practice.

Blacks have a few decent bags on sale atm. They also have a 20% off after a purchase – buy something cheap (dry bag  ) get the 20% discount code – then get the bag

Well I wouldn’t pay it, but I can do all those jobs myself so it’s a moot point

£180 for, say, 4-5 hours work on a job you can’t do? It’s no so much a case of whether it’s reasonable more a case of ‘is it the going rate’? To which I’d say yes

CFH – can’t disagree with your post – but a little harshly put if I may say.

I smiled at the bit when the Williams boss, worried Guy might screw up, said (something like):

Yeah, right oh boss, keep imagining

Not really, I can’t think of a time that the whole house would be tidy, but it’s a constant battle between Wife and Children.

    This

Remarkable how many full on mother / son battles start with a stray plate or crisp packet

Bike storage and all that goes with it is beautiful though!

If I was spending £3K I’d be looking at the Bird Aeris. £3K gets a great spec; Pikes, Eagle X01, Reverb. Up to you whether you think the 120 or 145 is more appropriate.

I had a test ride on the 145 and loved it. And the guys at Bird have a fantastic reputation for support. They do a medium, medium/large and large so you should be able to get sizing spot-on

I may be wrong but weren’t they thinking of setting up a test facility up in the North East?

Back in the day, if you just opened a can of nitromors within 6 foot of a frame, all the paint would just fall off.

Sadly, no more. Formulation change presumably because some/all of the active chemicals are not legal to sell.

I’d send the frame to a sand / bead * blaster and save yourself a whole lot of grief.

It’s partly generational. It’s not just the accent but the words used, lack of slang, etc

I heard an old interview of Arnold Palmer on the radio earlier. He sounded ‘posher’ (or perhaps just different) to modern Americans. And he wasn’t from an ‘elite’ background

I’ve had some therapy paid for through work (which is nice of them). My therapist (can’t believe I’ve written that) went through this with me at our first meet. Late 40s / early 50s is often a time for quite significant life changes.

Death of parents, kids leaving home, etc. Can often have a ‘what now’ effect on people potentially leading to apathy and so on. A lot of it rang true for me.

47 btw. I’m counting that as ‘mid’ 40s, just

So much of the above is true. I just can’t be arsed with the mundane and need some sort of looming deadline / threat to get me to do so. Give me something interesting though and I’m all over it.

As above it seems to be mania or nothing.

Not sure whether it’s a sign of mental health issues, diet, etc. Or whether it’s completely normal for a mid 40s bloke.

Just out of interest – is age a common factor in this? Late 40s is often the ‘lowest’ point in a man’s life
