Like someone above, I recently bought an Ibis Mojo HD (frame and shock) from eBay. Just over £300.

And a set of wheels for my son’s bike – superstar hubs on Mavic £40

This was to go with his 2012\13 Orange Five frame – £100.

    So bargains out there

Might not be the current flavour du jour but it’s still great kit

That Pipedream Moxie may well just have gone to the top of my n+1 list

The obvious, and already mentioned, Bonham and Moon

Glad to see Clem Burke getting a couple of mentions

Gonna give a shout out for Reni.

Dogs stink, shit, slobber, and bark. On the plus side they are loyal, affectionate, can be trained and bite burglars.

Cats on the other hand are clean, quiet and shit on your neighbours’ lawns (our neighbour’s cat does anyway  ). But they are selfish and cold.

We have neither. The only animals in our house are my two teenager boys.

Either someone else has the same frankenbastard or I’ve seen you at Swinley on that

    That’s a brave post!

Probably won’t fit your ‘cheapish’ specification but is it worth going to an LBS that does that saddle fitting thing? Think Trek dealers do it

Thanks binners – will look that up on the iPlayer.

For those interested, Simon Lister’s book ‘Fire in Babylon’ is an excellent read detailing how the all conquering West Indies cricket teams of the 70s and 80s, led by Lloyd and Richards, changed both cricket and the Caribbean as a whole.

I suppose it also highlights the sadness of the current state of West Indies cricket, riddled with corruption and in-fighting and a shadow of its former self.

    Blimey, complete shock to me.

I’m going to suggest Sat 4th Nov for the proposed:

    Swinley Southern Shandy Saunter.

    Who’d be in?

Most people don’t pick any accent but a few place me as West Country or Welsh

Mmmm, not looking good for 1pm Sat. I’ll probably be at Swinley but either earlier or later.

But I’m there pretty much every weekend so certainly up for future meets

I got given one of these (sans the little jewel on the clip) for my 40th. It’s a very nice thing to own but I rarely get to use it

We have a couple of the Keeter ones. Not big enough for a bike, we store various stuff in it; lawnmower, strimmer, etc

I wouldn’t put anything in it that I’d be upset to lose

Nothing surprising below, but all good. Really good, it’s easy to forget how good

Led Zepp: II, IV, and Physical Graffiti
    JJ Cale: Troubadour
    Bowie: Ziggy
    The Who
    The Kinks

Not exactly ‘hard’ rock but Supertramp, ELO and (even) early Elton is great road-trip music too

See also CountZero’s list – all good – though The Bangles surprised me!

Haven’t you got eight (8!) of the wee nippers?

Law of averages suggests at least one of them must turn out decent

Is the Bikemate front light new? Anyone any idea how bright it is? Anyone recognize it as something rebranded?

Looks worth a punt for £15, with a rear light too

Loved the Smiths in the 80s, but I was a moody teenager.

On the plus side, he’s kept his quiff far better than me.
On the down side, well he’s just a bit of an irrelevant knob these days, surely?

50/50 chance of me being there Sat afternoon. Will post here nearer the time if there’s much take-up.

Looks like I’m the slowest ‘declared’ time on Stickler :( . I’m either going to improve my time or crash next time I’m on it

Yes, I am a Stella* bowler
    * Reassuringly expensive, avg. 28 this season.

    Overly modest mefty

I’d settle for a bowling average of 28.

Come to think of it, I’d settle for a batting average of 28 too

I saw Shane Bond (ex NZ quickie) bowl at a local club a few years back. A few of the better batsmen were netting with him. He was bowling well within himself and was well past his prime anyhow.

After a while the batter asked for a ‘quick one’

    Bond: ‘You sure’
    Bat: ‘Yep’
Bond: ‘Okay, it’s coming full on off stump. I don’t want to hit you’
    Bat: ‘No worries’

Bond runs in, bends his back. Batter hardly moved, off stump cartwheeling away.

You could do stupidest bike maintenance blunder

Surely Northwind’s forks have this sewn up in perpetuity?

I think perchypanther’s post describing Jezza’s trail preferences wins.

I’d like to argue but have no argument

I have a 2.0l Focus diesel estate. Surprised me with its performance especially from about 40mph.

Boot is excellent; can easily get 3 bikes in (front wheels off) with the rear seat split so can still carry 2 passengers

I’ve been pretty much every weekend this year (yellow Ibis Mojo or On-One Fatty Trail)

Tend to stick to blue and red as I’m usually with one or both of my boys

If there’s any form of STW ride going on I’d be interested – would like to see some of the off-piste stuff

I broke my left wrist 20 years ago. I still get pain when it’s cold and I’ve never really got full strength back. Movement is okay though

I’d echo above and look for private physio. The NHS will stop physio when you’re ‘more or less’ right – but crucially not quite. Do the physio and rest. A little extra time off the bike is worth it IMO
