Lance. By whatever means he won, I don’t care. They were all cheating. But, he loves the bike. And his fightback on the cobbles this year was truly awesome to behold, real one man against the peloton stuff. Next year’s tour will be dull…

    I am a PT.
Do not do steady state on cardio machines as this will MAKE YOU FATTER.
Do exactly as littlegirlbunny suggests, but ensure you have a professional show you how to do those movements properly or you WILL hurt yourself.

    Good luck.

Right or wrong is irrelevant. What’s relevant is that it produces ‘information’ of no usable quality, hence it is stupid.

But then, what do you expect of religious fanatics (Bush, Blair etc) ? They ‘believe’ things, so they must be true…

Milton Keynes. Woburn (with hours of singletrack) close enough to ride to, great road riding from my door too, cheap enough to buy a nice house and big garden. Perfect.

“I’m sure the extra expense and effort is worth it if it’s your thing.”

    It is and it is.

Maybe some of us are supertasters, we’re all different.

    Stove-tops about 3-4 bar I believe. That’s why they’re called mocha, i.e. it’s a mock-espresso. However, much better than nothing when camping.

IMO a cafetiere is better than a filter. I use a cafetiere at work, espresso at home. If I use one exclusively I miss the other. The coffee maker, that is.
Much more caffeine out of the cafetiere…

Lavazza Red ?!?!? That is obviously a troll, and I’ve bitten. Lavazza Red is a blend FFS, and uses robusta ! You obviously have no taste buds whatsoever.

Also, a hand burr grinder makes a good grind but takes forever…

I have a Delonghi. It works just as well as my mate’s KitchenAid. Doesn’t look anything like as nice, and actually I’m on my third in the period he’s had the KA. I’m still ahead on cost…

The difference between the coffees labelled as filter etc is the grind. You need a much finer grind for espresso so that you can tamp it good and solid. Filter / cafetiere grind is so coarse that the water goes straight through. I always grind my own, and do it fresh.

IMO it’s worth spending a lot on a proper grinder more than on the machine – 15 bar is 15 bar whether the machine costs £60 or £600, but a cheap grinder will wreck the coffee before it gets near the machine. The Kitchen Aid Grinder is worth the money.

Finally, I’ve yet to find a decent coffee at a supermarket, yet the cheap and cheerful beans at Costco makes a really good cup for everyday drinking.

still using my 99 mount vision, in fact this morning fitted a new (to me) coil over shock as the air shock has about had it.

However, it is rather more burly than when purchased (130 forks, 203 discs, etc)

    Cheap turbo and Tabata training.

don’t bother with a HRM or anything. google Tabata training. It’s the only protocol that’s been properly proven to work and you’re sorted in half an hour from putting your kit on to being showered. Anything else is a waste of time.

Don’t expect to be able to anything else that day though…

many thanks, ernie, now at least I’ve got the vocabulary. Mrs flap_jack has fluent French so now we’re in with a chance.
I think I want each pane about 1m high and 1.5 wide, but probably opening out rather than in. I fear this is going to cost a fortune (which I don’t have)…

*brag* just did 14 in a row, riding to Rome. Best advice I can give is to choose a nice day and just do it.
Make sure you've got plenty of food (stuff you like as well as 'energy' food) and drink, and don't get cold when you stop.
Final tip. Take a can of Red Bull with you. Drink it at 60 miles and you'll finish no problem.
    Enjoy.

Less than 2 hours, done it many times. Not for a few years though. I walked it once too, but that took muuuch longer.

Best on a full suss, the towpath has lots of ripples and it hammers you to death on a hardtail.

Actually, it's not too bad a road ride though. Up and over Bushey, take the road south by the old church in Stanmore and keep going straight until you hit the north circ, then through Harlesdon, turn right over mitre bridge, wiggle under the westway at white city and basically you're there. Hour tops on a racing bike, 1hr 15 back. Commuted it for a few years back in the mid nineties.

me and my mamil mates just cycled to Rome – however, I kept the Singletracks over the lycra the entire way, much to the displeasure of the Italians with us.

Two guys did it on handbikes (legs blown off in recent wars), great vid of one of them hurtling down the Aosta valley at about 5 mins 30 in this…

I don't think folk want to ride bikes anymore – checkout the lack of a big ring on many new bikes. They just seem to want bouncy hobby horses…

SIS stuff is old technology. Torq are up with the more recent research. However, I've found that Maximuscle Cyclone protein bars give me a real kick – think it's the whack of creatine that does it.

don't forget that the duke had a big claim from a horse rider who broke their neck a couple of years ago. Horse riders were not welcome for over a year I believe, until that was sorted.

I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't worried that something similar will happen with all the crazy new digging. I think he's right, but I'd hate to lose access to some of the best singletrack in the south east.

BTW, a load of 'no riding' signs appeared about a year ago, in the area around the roller coaster. Not sure of their legal status…

So they really have got 10,000 trackpoints ? Brilliant, as the daily routes I'm planning on Bikely are giving about 1500 each day.

I want to hold 14 days of about 1500 trackpoints each – will an HCx do that ? Otherwise I've got to take the PC and load each day, which Id rather not do…

    Thanks
