colds and flu prevalent in winter – I like the vit D idea (it’s not a theory ‘cos it’s not backed up by science) i.e that you fight off colds better when you’re stacked with the sunshine vitamin.

I take a ton of vit D now, and even if it’s placebo it’s working. No colds for years…

Ditch the HRM. Doesn’t tell you anything useful. Get a Power Meter.

‘Asian Kids scared by dogs’ – could this be because of the number of aggressive dogs owned by racist scumbags ?

Pendle very secure but boy does it trash fuel consumption. Big estate car is the only answer (I now have a 1994 Merc into which I can put bikes without taking the wheels off).

Cheapest TT on CRC is £55.

TTs are for training, they’re not a replacement for cycling.

I’d be worried about doing hard training soon after surgery, increased blood flow / pressure may damage the repair process.

If you’re worried about leg strength you could do a program of bodyweight leg exercises – toe touches, single leg squats, lunges etc – that would need no kit and be very beneficial.

Mine blew up and spewed oil everywhere. Now use a mag. Won’t make a mess when it breaks.

Don’t expect it to be like the Drop Off. But you can get a hot drink and a snack (chicken/beef sandwich).
Sadly, the real food seems to be off the menu. A massive shame.

ride up the road to the goat village, up under the lift to the col de chesery, then over portes du soleil, across the swisss side to the col de cou and back down to morzine.

similar to col de chesery but back down to Chatel. (long way) back to morzine on road.

Up col de jeux plan and follow the chapelle de jacquicourt route.

Up col de jeux plan and back on the morzine side.

Plenty to do if you don’t mind a road climb…

Towpath probably essential out of London, but after that would prefer to keep off them – looking for a cross country epic, more hills the better.

I love what you get out of a Moka, but it isn’t the same as what you get out of a high pressure system.

IMO it would be worth having a (burr) grinder even with a moka, because it frees you up to use better coffees, and Mokas do make a drink which allows the subtleties to come through.

Love it. Totally unpractical and tempramental, but what style. And wonderful coffee. Awesome steamer too.

Although the £75 de Longhi was nearly as good for flavour (15 bar pump so what can go wrong), but the steamer was pants.

NOT a bean to cup. The tamp is never hard enough.

NOT capsules etc – you want to experiment with the beans

If you have £300 spend 150 on the grinder, 75 on the machine, 20 on the tamper, 20 on a jug, 10 on a themometer. Save the other 25.

    cheap but good coffee maker

    Any 29er ?

Some of them look like they’ve been ‘squashed’ to give a similar sizing to a 26.

Needs to be able to be ridden down the Pleney (although not the precipice or the ten percenter) but up the Col de Cou.

It’s worth spending more on the grinder than on the maker TBH.

de Longhi. £50. Lasts 2 years. £300 will see you sorted for 12 years, which is longer than my mate’s £500 Kitchen Aid lasted.

However, I’ve given up with pumps and now have a Pavoni, which should last forever but blows your budget.

omelette with tomatoes and nasturtium leaves for brekkie
sausage sandwich with eggs on home made spelt bread for lunch

55 minutes interval training. hard enough to feel quite ‘odd’.

    paleo ‘homebrew’ for recovery

    StoatsBrother,

unfortunately I too had a poor experience at a GP with a ‘dead arm’.

Many GPs are brilliant (when I lived in Watford, Dr Smita Patel in particular was fabulous) but sadly, not all are as good.

I had a Hastead, and it did as you said. I replaced the diaphragam, which initially made no difference, but discovered it would come on with a sharp tap to said diaphragm (discovered in rage). Would work for a few days, then would require sharp tap again. We kept going like this for years. Note, the boiler was in the loft, so the sharp tap wasn’t the most convenient thing to administer, although it did mean I could leave the cover off.

Now have a Bosch combi lovelything.

I had this with a new chain today. ’twas fixed by twiddling the limit screw. Can’t fathom why changing the chain would affect this, but it did.

Ditch the salt, unless you’re adding 50/50 sodium and potassium, otherwise Bazz is on the nail.

Do it. Everyone should live in London for a bit.

If you’re working in Westminster then living in Hammersmith (I live by the River ! ba ba da dummmm) is cheaper, easy to commute from and easy to get out from.

Double stem ! Now that is radical. Why didn’t I think of that.

Braced wing-bar ? Holy cow, they weigh nearly 2 pounds – nearly as much as the fork. But thanks for the thought, they might be high enough.

    In answer to James above:

How tall are you? 6’2″, but with short torso / long legs (36″ jeans)
And how long/what size is the frame? 20″ Smaller would be shorter but I’ve got a load of seatpin showing as it is.
Also what length stem, how much layback in your seatpost and how far back is the saddle on the rails/saddle angle? 70mm stem, straight seatpin, saddle as far forward as poss. Can’t think what else to do.

Don’t want a longer fork, have perfect 100mm 68 degree setup, although going 69er would look pretty cool.
