what you guys measuring spoke tension with ? This is something I’d like to do (I’ve built a few wheels now which have all been fine but I have been guessing with the tension). None have ever gone out of true and I’m worried I’m overdoing it…

you won’t wear out your tyres needlessly

Turbos don’t wear tyres out. I’ve used the same cheap smooth tyre for about 7 years. And I turbo lots and hard.

generally it’s nearly impossible to ‘go somewhere else’.

My current GP is useless. My previous GP was brilliant. Sadly, she’s 40 miles away…

Spear tackle, in front of children. Disgusting and disgraceful behaviour.

The correct response to an attempt to turn a man into a quadriplegic in public surly is arrest, preferably with a tazer. That might stop it.

I’m convinced the cold ruins the tyres. Also the tiny battery in the power meter.

Flap Jack, I don’t know where I would spin out a 46×11 gear,

Into Les Linderets, you can hit over 75 kmph on the PassPortes heh heh. Just watch out for the large drainage channel…

a good day out is Morzine – Lac Montriond – Ardent – Les Linderets – Col de Chesery – Champoussin – Col de Cou – Morzine. Try not to lose too much height on the Swiss side.

TBH if you’re 15st you’re not suited for distance running. Careful with those knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone…

Don’t ride at exactly the same time tomorrow. Staying safe is paramount.

Nasty mood on the streets at the moment. Walking through Towcester High Street yesterday, I saw there was a BNP stall setup with some odious looking chaps manning it.

    Above all, stay safe.

1999 Mount Vision. More than adequate. Mind you, plenty of upgrades (130mm revalations, 203/185 discs, etc)

It depends what you like, those Keswick photos don’t do it for me, I like twisty tight claustrophobic singletrack in trees like wot there’s tons of in Woburn. It’s great this sport has so many variations to suit everyone.

Tight rec fem. look up some stretches that go across the hip and the knee.

Probably isn’t, but was for me.

bath waters maybe in for best part of an hour at a time, and sometimes the door left open.

We used to do this, ended up buying a dehumidifier because we didn’t realise how much trouble it caused. Were without the bath for a month in winter whilst I slowly redecorated (good test of a marriage, whether your wife puts up with washing in the kitchen for a month in winter) and the damp vanished ! As you might imagine, we don’t leave bathwater lying around now.

Also, condenser tumble driers aren’t as efficient as you might think. We got the one Which recommended and, using a hygrometer to measure it, the house humidity rises by nearly 10% when it’s in use, and stays elevated for a couple of hours.

There’s a theme here. If you’re unfit ‘larger’ gentleman, you spend more time in the saddle resting rather than hovering, so you need an FS. If you’re a bit fitter, you can spend most of the day off the saddle so an HT is fine.

Only caveat is that your bike must be stable at speed, there are several points which you can be doing over 45mph if you feel up for it.

I’ve done 5 PPdS. If you’re reasonably fit you’ll be fine on that bike with some 2.3 High Rollers or similar. And you’ll enjoy riding past the folk on DH rigs between Chatel and Morgins.

People are getting spoilt. I did the first two with canti brakes and a 90mm fork !

Move. Most places are quiet and peaceful.

PS I remember the 70s. Now, that was nasty.
