Don’t do burpees or anything like that if you’re trying to lose weight. You’ll injure yourself and be back to square one.

My physio (who’s day job is with the British Olympic team) says that their rules are you lose weight first before doing any high impact stuff. For them that means running too. Anything over 3kg above competition weight invites injury in their view.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but jogging is OK though. Stay safe.

LOL at molgrips. would be inappropriate though, as unlike me she is totally focussed and dynamic.

wish I’d met a woman called Jill, it would have been v amusing.

mrsflap in similar weight position and just started running. Big problem for her is in putting herself first, there’s always something else to be done. Develop some selfishness !

is there a way of seeing of the lad from next door survived ? his mum’s been really worried for about 2 months since he entered despite me trying to convince her that it’s just an ‘aggressive cross country race’…

hi viz jackets must be in door pockets IIRC so you can get at them before getting out of car.

counted 6 radars (2 fixed, 4 mobile) on last drive to Chamonix from Calais.

This is madness. Stick a 150mm fork on it. Putting a 130 fork on my old Marin (which was ‘corrected’ for 100mm back in the day) transformed it, now 67 degree head angle and no frame cracking issues (and I weigh 100kg).

go and see a good physio. could be as simple as muscle imbalance, very common with cyclists.

    Jack’s fruity curry:

    Ingredients
Mahoosive bag washed spinach from Costco / wherever
    Sweet potatoes
    previously roasted chicken leftovers
    garlic
    thai curry paste
    creamed cocunut
    raisins

Steam the sweet potatoes above 1 pint water
whilst that’s doing (about 20 minutes), in a wok fry down the spinach and put in the garlic.
    Blend to a puree.
Add the curry paste, the creamed coconut and the meat. Hopefully the potatoes are done at this point, stick them in and the water that was under them.
Throw in a handful of raisins.

Bubble it a bit until you think it’s done.

Enjoy. I believe it to be iDiet compliant too.

1/2 English, 1/2 French Algerian…and that second half is well mixed if you go back further.

Would love to go to my mum’s home town (Algiers) but that seems to remain out of the question for the foreseeable…

Bromptons are the best folder anyway, so it’s all good for British manufacturing.

I really wish this was true, but it isn’t. You ever tried fixing a rear puncture on a Brompton ?

I don’t think there has been a clean winner ever.

This is the absolute point. The 3 week tours are barbaric circus events, not bike races.

can it be retro if you’ve owned it from new ? isn’t it like this vintage fashion thing, you have to buy it old ?

The whole road race scene is in chaos about this. Armstrong is ostracised, yet you can buy Pantani T shirts from Cycling Weekly. Where’s the consistency ?

Roller it regularly or it’ll come back. SS irrelevant, it’s running that canes it. If you don’t run and it’s bad, then roll it v frequently…

I personally shall be rolling this evening as it’s persistent for me.

Last time was in 1988. 112mph. Resulting hassle has somewhat discouraged me, which I guess was the intention.
I was actually listening to the Radio 4 news at the time.

IME cut all grains – Mrs F_J’s symptoms are much worse with oats than with wheat (and best without either).
Don’t go for substitutes, just eat real food. Cut the milk maybe too.

You may find (Mrs F_J did) that once you cut the grains, you are no longer intolerant to fruit. Which would be good as you can then have really nice breakfasts (e.g. frozen berries with Yoghurt)
