oh, well. 3 PRs today, but the one I really wanted didn’t record. C’est la guerre.

Will try even harder next time, although I was in full Alf Enders mode, and even crashed around a perfectly OK corner at 25mph. Iodine, oh the agony…

    MTFU.

I just done 18.5 mph for 40 miles, on my own. And I’ll never see 50 again either.

Mind you, I’m glad I didn’t bump into you lot. I was committing all the crimes against roadieism
    – wearing unmatching top and shorts, and helmet for that matter
    – MTB shoes and no socks
    – saddlebag containing spares
    – full length Zefal pump
    – triple chainring on a racing bike
    – 11/34 rear cassette

It’s surprising I can get along at all…

If you’re near Milton Keynes, go and see Paul Joyce. He fixed me with one session of acupuncture. I went from crutches on the way in to skipping with disbelief on the way out.

we stayed at Mignon Meublè (admittedly 10years ago) and really enjoyed it. No frills, but quiet and central.

Double slipper bath. £500. We were redoing the bathroom anyway at the time, but that caused a radical rethink of style. Probably cost another grand in getting matching high flush toilet and fancy sink.
    Still love it though.

I wonder if any of us will even still be posting here in 10 years?

Sadly, I’ve posting in STW for more than 10 years…

I’d like a link to the mass banning too, I was riding bike / watching Olympics all weekend.

last 2 weeks I had this odd feeling of being proud to be British. This has cured me of that.

    Road clubs doing MTB. Nooooooooooooooooooo.

Mixed, e.g. Team MK, is the way forward.

my old XA was always a bit dark around the edges. Fab design though, I still have it for aesthetic reasons only.

left overnight on the back of a car ? It’s a shame, but you really can’t do that in any town I wouldn’t think…

I’ll shall be keeping my eyes open though (I’m local to this)

Do people still pedal downhill in the UK?

    yep. that’s why I have a 46×11 as a top gear.

I pedal uphill too, hence the 22×34.

I don’t ride with folk using 1×10 or 2×10 as I get bored waiting for them.

The whole country needs flattening and being rebuilt like Milton Keynes.

OK, I jest, but compared with the rest of the UK, cycling here is bliss.

You’re at the age when you’d be dropping ‘mates from school’ and replacing them with friends (who you’d have more in common with than just your age) anyway.

Were you also receiving physiotherapy at the time?

Yep. So, no, I don’t know what did what. Well, I think I do, but I can’t be sure. Hence why I said anecdotal.

more anecdotal evidence here – worked twice for me on separate injuries. Both times performed by proper physios. Both times relief instant and long lasting.

it’s too late for nearly everything this year, but wait a month and it’s perfect for early beans etc for next year. Richen the soil first, spuds really take it out of the ground.

Or, if you want to follow a proper rotation, onions or garlic for next year…

Finally, leave the spuds in for another month, everything’s late this year.

blimey, emsz, ‘enjoying oneself’ ? Whatever next ? This is england, we don’t do fun here !

One stravaholic I know always asks ‘what was your training objective on that ride ?’ ‘Out for a laugh’ just does not compute with him. He is a stereotypical sour roadie, though…

molgrips, it’s worse for women because larger Q-angles increase the load on the knees. You may well be bio-mechanically v suited for running so have got away with it. If so, I’m envious…

week off work here too. I just moved 2 tons of sand for the builders onto the patio. under the full sun. Patio thermo says 28 C. I LOVE the heat.

I am still not, by any stretch of the imagination, fat.

apologies, title of thread confused me.

Anyway, that’s excellent news because it means you can get fit quickly. Don’t run at a steady pace, but after you’ve warmed up do your run as a set of faster and slower bits. Sprint between lamp-posts, and longer (up to 2 minutes) efforts between road junctions, that sort of thing. Do it again when you’ve got your breath back. 3 times a week of this sort of thing and you’ll be on fire after a month.

    Enjoy !

I’d get properly fit and do all the riding I could. I think I’d get old and broken before I got bored of that, so I’d invest in a load of HGH to keep going as long as possible.
