bikebuoy has it, most roadie clubs are full of miserable gits more intent on politics and ensuring any newcomers are ‘taught their place’ than having a laugh. Hence triathlon being so popular, no stupid roadie rules.

Clubs and fun don’t mix. MTB is all about fun.

Should be space enough for all types, but it’s disappointing when old stuff that folk like (e.g the MBR stream drop/climb at CyB) gets replaced with identikit fast bermy stuff. Add the new stuff, but don’t replace the old !

CYB circa 2001 (just after MBR opening and ‘toughening up’ of the Karrimor) was IMO the epitome. Not liking what’s there now.

this would be the week mrsflap and I normally go to Cham. Not this year due to overrunning ‘Grand Design’. Bad pangs. Consoling ourselves that it wouldn’t be the same without the train.

I let it dry out, mostly because I had little choice. I resisted the sudacreme although I continued to slaver it in the ‘wound wash’, which Mrsflap had bought for the dogs when they were having a bit of a fighting phase (thankfully over).

I got a 11-34 and an XT derailleur on the back matching ultegra front. Works absolutely fine and I can get up anything.

I can’t go out to get any modern dressings as Mrsflap varnished the stairs whilst I was out crashing. So all the upstairs windows are open and I can’t get at them to close them.

Meanwhile, Mrsflap went out briefly to her brother’s, but the train she was on broke down and she has been stuck on it for 3 hours, with no aircon! She’s not exactly sympathetic to my plight as her’s is rather worse…

as I hit the deck there were two roadies going the other way. One shouted to the other ‘hey, was that Cancellara ?’ In any other circumstances that would have been a compliment. well funny though.
