Hated riding in contacts, fine in specs. But I’ve always worn specs so feel naked without them, probably different if you’re new to them.

    501s. Carhartt. Uniglo.

None of these fit over my cyclist thighs. Cannot get jeans to fit at any price. Grrr.

We need a return to Loose Fit. Where are the Happy Mondays when you need them ? 15 years ago easy to get proper fitting jeans.

Test will find allergy not intolerance. If you don’t get on with it, stop.
Don’t do soya milk, do Almond milk.
Tofu really bad unless fermented (tempeh).
    FFS don’t do margerine. Poison.
But I’d stop eating bread and muesli and porridge before stopping milk, my other intolerances (including what I thought was a milk one) went away when I stopped those.

Go Pro + iPad SD card reader + iMovie for iPad = record, import, edit, share. Very easy.

Don’t have iPad but do have latest iMac. Does that route work for iMac ?

    Thanks

Indeed I will, but it can be advantageous to have other folk’s experience first.

Chamonix has a couple of lifts open early June but they are hellishly expensive. More non-assisted riding available there too if you don’t mind some technical climbing.
Can be quite a bit of snow at 2000m at that time of year.

My ‘strep throat’, which wasn’t treated with antibiotics (Doc told my mum that I was a malingering child), turned into Rheumatic Fever.
You really don’t want that, I can tell you.

Yesterday had my first Nespresso at wife’s brother’s. Better than I expected, I can see the appeal if you want no mess and don’t mind ‘OK’ coffee.

Me I got a Pavoni Europiccalo pro and Acasa burr grinder. This is the opposite, i.e. a complete faff and mess but fantastic coffee. Decide where on that continuum you lie.

yes please for that fork. long enough for a frame that’s corrected for 100mm. with option for rim brakes. I’ve waited sooo long for a rigid replacement for my Pace Evo (to which it looks similar).

one of the black chilli compound contis if it’s grip you’re worried about, ultra gator skins if it’s punctures. Thousands of miles done on gators, never punctured. I puncture on every ride with other tyres. Mind you, I’m not exactly racing weight.

Whilst on the subject of Pavé, Mrs flap-jack noted that the chanting on the background of ‘A day on Hell’ was the word ‘Pavé’. A Flandrian chant rather than a Gregorian…

Another recommendation for Hotel Igloo. They let you keep your bikes inside too.

    Stayed there 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009. Basic but excellent every time.

It’s not as if I’m against the BBC muffia – Toksvig, Perkins etc are absolutely top notch entertainers. But CB cheated on that bike ride and everything she does seems equally fake to me.

The time gap between 3rd and 4th at the Vuelta shows what the current crop of undetectable drugs do. 2012 Vuelta up with 1996 TdF as dirtiest race ever IMO.

Unless he’s caught Bertie will crap over everyone next year – or unless his knee blows up again, with a bit of luck.

I put 2 on the (admittedly rear) driven wheels. Thought it a good idea to save money. Horrible. Went back 2 weeks later for the fronts. Bliss.

In 1974 my dad bought a Moskvich. It came with two enormous tyre levers and the trackpump from hell. No doubt in Russia it was expected that you would be changing tyres yourself.

Needless to say, we had a go.

    Once.

And there are threads on here about getting tubeless bike tyres to seal…

looks like i might be commuting into London a couple of times a week so would be handy to have.

Noooooo. Take the train. 45 minutes. Car 2 hours + at rush hour.

As you can see, a real Marmite of a place. Some love it, others hate it. No-one’s indifferent.

I’ve lived all over the country and MK is brilliant. We’re not moving.

Loads (hours and hours) of singletrack in Woburn, fab road riding in the quiet lanes to the east or west, great running through the parks (I can do a 10k run from my house crossing only one road, and 9.75 k is in parkland, passing the concrete cows), great theatre, music, easy access for shopping, easy access to London (30 mins on fastest train).

As with all large towns there are places to avoid. The oldest estates are tired and have problems. Big new ones, like Furzeton, are nice but can be a bit quiet if you’re single IMO. As stated above, if you’re on your own, go for the Hub.

There’s some real detail in here if you’re keen The estates are ranked in order, with 1 being lowest. Avoid Beanhill…

Another for Col de Balme to Trier. i can honestly divide my MTB riding into before and after those switchbacks on the cliff face…MTB equivalent of crack cocaine.
