big topic of conversation in our office. commutes around us have a mix of fast road and rough cycle-track, what’s wanted is a relaxed geometry curly bar bike with tough disc braked wheels that you can put a 23 tyre on.

that Genesis looks very close to what we all want…

What temperature you washing at ?

I have 4 pairs from 2010 which haven’t shrunk at all despite being all I wear both on and off bike for 3 seasons of the year. Always washed at 30 degrees using Dreft.

Have to say that despite all being XL the sizing is a bit haphazard and the waist tensioners are all set different. And they need XXL liners to work properly, the XL liners way too tight.

(9 speed) 53/40/30 coupled with 11/34. XT long cage rear mech. Ultegra shifters. Works fine. Even flight deck is happy with this combination.

Deffo NO to 1 above. Get kids to roll puppy onto his back when he does it and place hand on his chest firmly enough to keep him there without causing pain until he turns his head away. He then learns that they’re dominant over him and that his place is below them, and will stop.

Sadly, IME, SONs always die in an unfixable fashion with just road use. I dread to think how short the life would be off-road.

Chap at work is doing it on a BMX…He’s been commuting 40 miles a day for quite a few weeks now so he may well succeed.

Feel a bit inadequate on the racing bike.

I am quite drunk but it it makes sense to me – I think he’s saying that even when set up wrong they’re not very wrong whereas you can set up other shocks very wrong when they’re wrong.

Paleo diet. Clears all allergies. Well, at least in my case it did. Hard work though, and currently lapsed due to 2 weeks in pain-au-chocoland.

Chamonix. All trails legit in September. Descent from Brevant to valley is 1500m, just crazy, includes some via ferrata with bike on shoulder if you fancy it.

Maybe we should have a Friday night STW beer in Morzine as it seems most of us so far are doing the ride on Friday

Well I’ll be in Bar Robinson once I’ve finished – if I complete it unscathed. But then, so will everyone else…

    Nothing.

Pull ups from rafters, everything else body-weight (have you tried single leg deads or squats?)

Spend the money on more bikes.

Ruins a nice frame, they were truly hopeless, no better than a standard canti and much worse than a V.

I chucked mine for V’s after boiling them in Les Gets…

Similar to Capt Flasheart, I have a diesel W124 from ’94 that still looks and runs good, my mate has a W210 from ’98 that’s a rust-bucket and has about 7 faults from the BIT on startup.

Have tried them all imho nothing comes close to XTR v-brakes they’re in a class of their own.

IME the parallel push XT/LX were heavier but better. At 100kg I give brakes a hard time, and to get equivalent performance with discs I’ve had to go for 203 rotors.

    Original V-brakes were ace…

weight off wheels if possible. But, TBH, as long as it’s inside it should survive fine.

Healing vibes too, plenty of sitting in sun if poss to get that vitamin D to the bones.
