Park up at the top of Church Road from the funny double roundabout in Woburn Sands. Google maps shows this point as ‘Cyclone Mountain Bike Meeting Point’.

There’s a gate opposite the cottage. Once through the gate go sharp right, you should see the signs for the the trail.

The signs can be tricky to spot, and don’t take you back to the car park (god only knows why), but if you get to the end take a left through the woods and a right when you hit the wide sandy track, and you should get back to the car park.

Often when you park up someone else is about to go out and they’ll take you around. Sadly busy tomorrow myself…

Before you touch any electronic components, touch a metal part of the chassis. That will discharge any static.

Surely that’ll only work if the chassis is earthed? Don’t you need to get an earth wrist strap?

    This sort of thing…

15kg this year. Not had a cheat day, nor wanted one. Eggs, bacon sausages, tomatoes and liver for breakfast, why would you want carbs?

Thanks, Dave. I thought it was 16A but was struggling on google without my first coffee.

My mother is French, so I have lots of French family and have been there, ahem, quite often. They would certainly take their own stuff to an Ibis.

As scotroutes said. Cut the carbs and eat fatty foods until you’re full and you’ll stay full longer.

Up until this September one of these was my main ride. It’s still going strong, but I bought a 29er Stumpy 2 months ago.

Crikey, things have really come on in 20 years…

BTW, the coil-over is correct, a mate has one identical that came with his in early 1998. And, it’s still his main bike.

Thought is that those on low carb diets need different amounts. Not known what these requirements are, but vit C may be much lower as there’s no exogenous glucose competing.

What’s interesting is the abuse the haters give. Why not accept that, even possibly as placebo, it makes some of us happy?

YMMV, but for me keto works well. Yes, <25g net carbs per day.

Some performance compromise – my 15s power output is unaffected, my 1 hour ftp is unaffected but my 2 minutes power output has suffered and warm ups take much longer.
However, the improvement in mental clarity, particularly at the end of a long off-road ride (several hours) is fantastic, and well worth the slight compromises above.

The LCHF thing certainly works for me, no need to eat during day long rides any more. Took quite a few months to adapt though.

Camping Ainsa ! Still there :)

25 years ago I had to ride my motorbike home from there, two up, panniers and top box, with no front brakes after a disc-lock incident.

They have a fine selection of talent, all female (Creasy, Reeve etc). Few of the men cut it. But the average member seems to want a stupid old git.

    @jamba

Heath stated on many occasions on (admittedly late night TV interviews) that the direction of travel was towards ever closer union, and Powell remarked afterwards that he was amazed Heath had told the truth, and amazed that the British public had voted for it.

No-one was lied to like this time, and IIRC the public were much more engaged with politics in those days so could see through the BS.

FWIW if my parents had survived they’d have voted Remain, but unlike the Boomers they’d fought in the war and knew the alternatives to union.

Westie and Scottie. They’ve worked out their roles between them. The Westie (oldest) guards mrs flap_jack and the Scottie guards the front of house. They both stand down when I’m around.

If what you’re looking for is a fitness fireroad type blast, you could follow the bridleway loop that runs through the parks that encircle the town itself.

    map

The route itself is surfaced, but alongside it runs an all-weather clay / shale bridleway that gives a good workout. It’s well signposted.

Lodge Lake car park is a good place to park up and start.

Ha ! I’ve got one, after 20 years still going strong. Don’t have a pic though (and the forks are carbon Pace EVO).

Medium to high intensity exercise is fueled 70-100% carbs

Depends on your adaptation. It tends to be the case in the untrained, but in the highly trained fat is used predominantly. There are a load of Keto-athletes showing how this is done. I intend becoming one of them (and I’m now up to 90% of previous FTP).

how heavy are you ? rear couldn’t cope with my 90kg, only modern spokes I’ve ever snapped. 28 spoke front radial road has been OK though (I don’t care about lateral flex).

Stayed in Chamonix a few years ago, and the guy in the flat above worked for SAP in Geneva. He said the commute was 1 hour and totally worth it. His wife was treating the experience as a total chill-out holiday.

It’s the sustainability of these diets I find interesting.

Me too ! Although so far I’m only missing beer. TBH I was already low carb before starting this apart from the beer, which is all I’ve given up (I stopped rice/pasta/bread/spuds etc years ago as they made me bloated). Clearly my turbo efferts were previously beer-fueled !

Another LCHF here, about 3kg off in a month. Sugar cravings etc much reduced.

I’m struggling to get the numbers on the turbo-trainer though, and my RHR is about 10% higher. I’ve no idea if that’s a transient thing, I do hope so.

Tacx reckon I was ‘unlucky’ with my firmware update.

So Tacx haven’t improved since the old imagic days. FW updates were a total nightmare then too.

I have an old Flow from 2003, and had to replace the head unit a couple of years back. Imported was half the price of UK. I wonder if that’s the case for the whole unit…
