@demonracer – at the moment I’m just using a spare from an old FTX canyon for mock up. I’d like a yeti score but they seems crazy money, so maybe something off eBay. It’ll be 2wd, hopefully with a 3s. I’ve got a bit of a mix of components that I’ve pilfered from other cars so who knows whether it’ll work!

Going to start bending and cutting pipe this evening. Then maybe some welding tomorrow fingers crossed!

Carpetkana didn’t work out so well on the deep shag pile at my mums

That. Is. Awesome! Well done sir, that’s fantastic work! Can I ask how you bend the tubing? Pipe bender or big hammer?

My rear axle turned up today so I’m back in the conservatory tonight to figure out how to fit it. In other news my youngest step daughter destroyed my carisma Range Rover gearbox today so I need to have that in bits!

@demonracer – that’s awesome! Really nice welds too. Interesting what you say about prep and not bothering to mitre if I’m using the mig, if the come out like that I’ll not bother!

I just sourced 4mm solid rod off eBay, it’s not too expensive. On the model above is that going on a standard chassis or are you building that too?

I am indeed – 4mm tubing turned up today. It’s a lot of work if I’m honest, but quite therapeutic. Currently testing to see if I’ll MIG or braze – I’ve got a MIG so that’s the cheaper option but I think braze will look nicer. Then there’s the cutting and fish-mouthing of the rods themselves…lots to work out!

Work has started on my scratch build. Aluminium sheet has turned up and I’ve started working out where everything is going to go. Also had the shell turn up, ready for cutting up as I only intend to use the front half.

    Build

Although difficult to picture at the moment, this is what I’m aiming for

Simon E – I’m going to have to disagree with your last point. For the record I didn’t vote Tory nor will I. Ever. However I think through this crisis the one decent thing to come out of it is a renewed appreciation of the NHS from the general public. I’ve no doubt people valued it, especially when they needed it but for the most part it was taken for granted. Not the case any more and despite the cheesy clapping (imo) most people now praise nurses and doctors and I think hold them in much higher regard. People are starting to understand how valuable the NHS is, especially when compared to countries like the US.

Hopefully once this is all over, people hold Johnson and his bunch of Criminal mates to task and ensure that it continues to receive more funding and appreciation rather than a race to the bottom to sell everything off..

I’ve been into RC card for about 5 years now, always had them but since I’ve got into Lipo I’ve become somewhat obsessed. Having had the basher type stuff I’ve got quite in to crawling, starting with an FTX Kanyon

    Kanyon

These for the money are excellent – plenty of torque out the motor and bar the chassis having a couple of weak points they’re pretty strong.

Then I bought a carisma rtr Range Rover which is…ok. Not great and better now I’ve stuck some bigger tyres on, but it’s just a poor mans TRX really

    Rr

Then decided to build a drift car, bought a kit and spec’d it up to run an Absima esc motor combo on 2s. Recently bought an e30 touring shell that still needs to be painted up

    Drift

And finally a G-made BOM running the gear out the Kanyon. This is a lovely kit to build, I’ve upgraded the wheels/tyres and about to fit an LED light bar. Proper crawler and much fun to build

    Gmade

I’m about to start on a scratch built trophy truck, 1/10 scale running the 4s gear out of one of my older bashers. I’m going to build a proper metal space frame chassis/cage and am using some fancy axles and shocks from the US.

I actually get more fun out of building them than driving them!

Thank you! It’ll look better once I’ve finished with all the fixing and a few upgrades. New chain and sprockets, new tail tidy, I’ve got a new screen to go on and my mate is painting the nose fairing as it’s a bit chipped. Will be nice when it’s done.

Ooh I love a Tuono! Such a nice bike to ride and fits us taller folks. Factory too, so all the flash bits. I’d love ohlins for mine but they’re all the electronic versions on eBay and that’s a right faff!

Spent about 4 days trying to get the exhaust off my Panigale to deal with the wobbly heat shields. Finally got it off after dismantling what felt like the entire bike and decided to give it a clean up whilst off.

    Before

    Before and after

Have now painted the heat shields a satin black so once back on I think it’ll look better

TJ – just calm down man. Every covid thread you’re going ballistic and it can’t be doing you any favours physically or mentally. You’re not going to change this, you’re not going to get a prize for winning an argument on here and all you’re doing is winding yourself up.

I live in the sticks. I have a lovely Ducati parked in the garage. Every day this week I’ve heard sports bikes thrashing up and down the roads and it’s infuriating until I realise I’m doing my bit by staying in and what I think of them isn’t going to change owt.

    Just relax mate

EDIT: not being entirely honest – the Ducati is in bits (surprise!) but you get me drift

I live on my own and have wfh for the past two years. I can hand on heart say that it’s been far from great for my mental health. You need some form of interaction and without careful monitoring you can end up losing the plot a bit.

The ideal is 2-3 days a week from home. Might be different for those with families but for me it didn’t do me much good at all.

Anything by Michael Bay doesn’t make any sense apart from Pain and Gain. Which was ace. I’ve yet to make any sense of any of the Transformer films.

There’s plenty of rubbish on Netflix but nothing compares to the Expendables

Different strokes for different folks isn’t it? They wouldn’t build the s works completes if people weren’t buying them so clearly someone is. And that someone might have muchos cashola and not blink about spending 11k on a pushiron. In addition, the likelihood of the same person spending hours on Bike24 and similar finding who has the cheapest Red AXS rear mech is slim.

The price of forks amazes me these days. I’m currently rebuilding my Remedy and after some decent 29er forks. Anything upwards of £600 seems to be the going rate. In most cases, £700+. Now I’ve never considered myself tight but that seems like mental money

First proper mtb was a Coyote, not the shit duel slalom thing but an original one. Came with a flexstem which snapped middle jump over the first double at Ipswich BMX track. Still have the scars. Following this, I had a Giant ATX something hardtail which was mega. 15 inch frame, terrible rst forks and canti brakes which I upgraded to DX vbrakes. Snapped it trying to back flip out of Thetford bomb hole.

Don’t the supersix frames have weird spacing on the rear? Something to do with having to redish normal wheels?

    Thanks for the heads up.

Worth keeping in mind that for me personally citaprol had a very different effect on me compared to sertraline – headaches, tight jaw and so on. Maybe start on half a pill and work your way up.

I can’t post a picture of the tree that fell over in our garden during Dennis – however it’s a whopper and though it’s taking me a number of weekends to get through, my fisher-price saw is slowly getting there. You’d be surprised at what it can get through – the only limiting factor being me and my inability to understand that some branches are under tension….with obvious results.

I run the motomix stuff in mine, plus hedge trimmer, strimmer and leaf sucker – I’m surprised at how long 5 liters has lasted considering the amount of two stroke stuff I have. It also works a treat in my 1/5 scale RC car, and that has a right old thirst on it!

    flange

+1 on the motomix- brilliant stuff. Means I know I’m not doing any damage by getting the mix wrong plus it doesn’t go off.

I’ve got the 170 version and it’s been great. Well apart from the fact it’s not very big and my girlfriend calls it a fisherprice chainsaw…

I came down with a cough and cold on Saturday so have been stuck inside on my own since then. Girlfriend has left some food at the front door but other than phone calls, nowt. To make matters worse, I got made redundant before Xmas and this week was a big week for interviews that have now all been cancelled.

Today has been the worst so far, the ache in my legs and back is horrid. On the flip side I’ve got plenty of bog roll and I’m not a fan of pasta.

As someone with ‘it’ (in theory – I’ve not been tested), there does appear to be a ridiculous amount of panic about. The flip side being the joke threads that just aren’t funny and not much comfort when you’re stuck in a house on your own every day.

Anyway, whinge over – I’m off to build a radio controlled car

Are the calipers new? I know my 685’s (think that’s the number) had a recall for the same issue and they ended up replacing the calipers FOC.

Agree with Daffy – I think my Chris Kings actually came from you and they were ace – mine was a SS specific one and did many rounds of the Thetford winter series without a grumble in pretty biblical conditions(Tunstall anyone?). Can’t remember if it was that hub or another one but I’ve definitely had a set of kings off you in the past..

I also only used the Torch and classic hubs, I’ve no experience of the new Hydra but I think the one I saw in my brothers shed was a hydra and that was goosed! That said, Logan on bikepacking seems to rave about them and he clearly does way more miles than me. The big thing for me was the lack of support on I9 when they did go wrong – basically not interested. I’ve got a set of Halo wheels on my bikepacking bike and I’ve had quite a few issues with the supadrive hub, resulting in them going back three times. However they’ve been brilliant on their customer service every time, even though the wheels are well out of warranty and I’d not hesitate to buy their wheels again.

Shit breaks, especially when you ride it in the wet and muck – for me the clincher is what the support is like when you have issues – Hope and Halo are brilliant. Kings just don’t break..

I’ve had three sets, I’d never have them again.

All suffered terribly from bearing failure, the seals went on the freehub meaning every time you took the rear wheel out, the cassette fell off spraying pawls everywhere. When I contacted the importer he said it was a common problem and I needed to buy a new seal kit! Over 18 months of used, I replaced bearings three times in one set, the others were grumbly and I just stopped using them.

Was looking at another in my brothers shed last weekend, seized solid. For the money they’re shocking

There’s a parallel between Jones and the nut job preachers who fleece their congregations for huge sums of money. Ones uses politics, the other uses God. Both rely on fear because fear sells.

Whilst I agree that we shouldn’t wish physical harm on the man in terms of brutality or rape, he’s a disgusting human being who prays on the ill informed and should be punished. I wonder how long it’ll be before he goes bankrupt and Louis Theroux does a tv show on him..

Soma and Bregante – my thoughts are with you both. Please don’t see the remainder of my post in any way undermining the gravitas of what you’re going through.

In response to the thread, I totally agree that it should be a persons choice as to whether they continue living. Especially in a society where choice (to an extent) is fought for, it seems at odds that you shouldn’t be allowed to make the ultimate choice for yourself.

To me, I think the grey area is mental health. Please bear with – this is not to make this thread all about me. For as long as I can remember I’ve not been bothered about living and certainly in the past couple of years, if there’d been a button I could have pressed I would have. I’m (relatively) fit and healthy physically, but I’m miserable and just tired of life. I’ve not done the act as I’m a bit of a coward when it comes to pain and the worry of putting myself in a vegetive state terrifies me if it doesn’t go to plan. Obviously my family wouldn’t want me to do it (sibling and parents only – I’m not married and no kids), but I can’t see the point and am left in a numb state where the thought of ending it fills me with a bit of peace.

On the above basis should I be entitled to end my life if I want to in a controlled and effective manner? I think I should – I’ve have multiple counselling and anti-depressants and nothing has ‘fixed’ me. If what I want is to just end it, even if it means paying for it, then why can’t I?

Please note I’m in no way comparing it to the others mentioned in this thread with serious medical conditions, I can’t imagine the pain involved for both the patient and their family. My point is merely around the choice in dying.

Without wishing to sound self absorbed, having suffered from depression, adding in scrutiny and bullying by the press would make an awful situation a million times worse.

Frankly it’s about time the press was held accountable for this sort of shit. Nasty hate rags like the Sun and Mail should be banned. Screw freedom of speech when it’s so frequently abused..

Didn’t post this on Sunday but having had the tree surgeon round we’ve found it’s going to be an expensive job!! I’m not sure it was the severity of the storm as much as it was the shallowness of the roots on the tree, either way we’re sorted for firewood for the next 10 years!
