What worries me is all the natural singletrack in the area is going to be manicured.

and that's putting it mildly Simon!!!

A very enjoyable day out in the Yorkshire breeze thanks.

Had the same problem myself. Titanium rings perfect rest ****. Just waiting for it to happen to the Dura Ace one on the hardtail.

Bite the bullet – replace it.

Mark, my heart goes out to you & your family.

Don't despair, it's not confirmed yet.

Back to May, 2001. I too started suffering from shortage of breath and feeling dogshit. From being always being first at the sprint station in circuit training suddenly I was down with the plodders. Bike power just went out of me too. Ends up I'd got pneumonia, admitted to Queen's Park hospital Blackburn and had chest x-ray. Right chest cavity full of fluid. My then wife was told (unknown to me at the time) to expect the worst – C – and anything else was a bonus. Cat scan showed nothing I'm pleased to say other than empaema, basically an absess on the lung. I honestly thought I was dying. Chest drain fitted and wait for it to empty. Trouble was it had solidified and had squashed the base of the lung, hence shortage of breath.

Blackpool Victoria next for lung op, raked out all the crap. 4 months before I could go near the bike. Eventually the day came when I got my life back and started training again.

Guess I was one of the lucky ones. I'm back as fit as I was then enjoying life (I can still beat those kids on the sprints!) but never ever take my health for granted.

Hope you can draw a scrap of comfort from this and you get a good result on Monday.

Dave, would you say it's silly light hardtail country or would I need the 26 pound big hitter?

Did this at Easter. Looks so different without snow. The descent to Glen Feshie has to be one of the best descents in the UK.

Can someone please tell me what the reference to his Father incurrs?

And if that looks like Victoria Beckham then I'm a spit image for her husband.

Now it's official I'll try & sort a kiddie swap. Will confirm by weekend.

Know the area very well so can chip in with route suggestions if required. Talked at length with Graham at pub on Sunday about this one. Should be able to cobble together a real cracker.

Wet, muddy, some big climbs and a fair mileage. Absolutely loved it to bits a great day out. My first ride on the North Yorks Moors most certainly won't be my last. That kind of terrain is why I ride a mountain bike.

Big thanks to Dave for leading and to everyone for making me so welcome as the newbie of the group.

Just cleaned the bike and I reckon half the NY Moors is lying in my drive, the rest is in the shower basin!
