those window etchings are so sad – almost reduced me to tears when I went there. One of the most atmospheric places I've ever seen.

When I think back to last "summer" I have to say I've had far better ridng this winter & it's not over yet. I love winter rides especially at night 😀

Used a Big Face for winter munros/corbetts for years & wouldn't use anything else. NEVER wear a base layer. Too warm for MTB however.

As the total immersion rider in pic 1 I can catergorically state that all parts of my bike & myself are still in perfect working order, just as they were after the Langdale dunking of a few weeks ago. However, thank you once again for your concerns, it really is warming to know how much you lot care about other people's bikes. The 'frigid waters of Decmeber' were not that cold believe me, or maybe it's just that I'm made from Northern Grit.

This Mountain Bike malarky, it's all about having fun in your leisure time & I certainly do that whatever the weather & conditons when I ride & so do my mates. As do my children when they see their Daddy getting down & dirty again in SFB's excellent shots.

Get your bikes out, get a yourself some decent winter kit & go put a smile on your faces instead of sitting in front of a laptop dissing those who actually enjoy riding their bikes all year round.

Well here was I thinking of putting my Stumpy in the vice today & setting to with a lump hammer. Don't think I'll bother as its clearly not fit for purpose so I'll just ride it instead.

I actually thought we ride our bikes for fun. How silly of me. I also thought I was doing the environment a favour by taking the bike to work instead of the car whilst really I'm giving off more emissions than a Ukrainian power station.

And yes the current was vicious so that's probaly irresponsible as well.

All those people who never get thier bikes wet please email me for your next ride, love to join you in Utah.

I'd like to lay claim to those lights in the picture but I'm not sure it's me. However, you definitely took hand held shots on my 2nd run Simon.

I'm thinking along the lines of re-uniting for a ride when Chris is fit again and maybe trying to raise a few quid for said air ambulance/MRT team anyone interested – I've already got a couple, SFB, Julia, myself maybe even fit nursey!!!

Totally useless on a wet Lakes ride round Burnmoor Tarn a few weeks back. Racing Ralphs are exactly that – for racing.

feenster not for one minute are my remarks aimed at you blaming us for the crash, it was an earlier poster. Agree we could have used someone up the hill to get riders/racers to slow down.

Bigcol, any chance you could email me Chris' surname I would like to contact him on facebook when he's better. Address in my profile.
