I did Skiddaw & Helvellyn on the same day. I have a MMO somewhere.

Aye that's exactly where I was at weekend, leading a Boggies ride down there. There is also some wicked trail in the Lickle Valley as a prologue to the Seathwaite descent.

We await TJ's response with baited breath. Could he actually have been wrong for the first time ever?

NO carries but it was very dry, even the bit from Lingy Hut to Knott. However….wet ground will be very very different. The descent to Nether Row I would not recommend just stay on the miners track. Even in the dry it was hard going.

The main descent off Great Sca Fell has little in technicalities, just fast grassy singletrack which goes on & on & on. Its mega fun though top grin factor 😀

Will try to send MMOs later tonight.

I was out that way Sunday myself but I was walking with Gill. We drove round through Orthwaite, Longlands etc. I looked up at the route & wondered if anyone was riding it. Must have been a bit nervy on that wet grass ST.

Think I'm gonna check out that Worm gill descent weekend after next, see if it lives up. Report/pics to follow.

Might be as well to wait for the next dry spell, my route past the Lingy hut would be an absolute 'mare in the wet.

Lowey, you know I'm only taking the p1ss mate, I would have loved to have been doing battle with you against the elements. Next time maybe?

    For the record:

I clocked it at 3.76 miles LITTLE Sca Fell summit to gate at Longlands onto road. You have to pedal up from Great Sca Fell onto Little Sca Fell to begin descent so that bit doesn't count.

    Height Loss:418m

Time descending: 8 mins (includes photo stop at signpost near bottom) & I am sure aomeone will be along shortly to say they have done it in a quarter of the time blindfolded on a fully rigid unicycle

    Grin factor: 100%

    Effort to get there: 99.9%

Gav, I have to add I made about half a dozen pedal strokes in total near the bottomto keep speed up but could prob just have got down without

Summit of Little Sca Fell looking down to Longlands

Postscript: I would say that at least 5km of Bowderdale is pedalling Not descending

I did the Bruts Moss/Groove Beck BW excellent at the moment. Tomorrow I'm doing the Great Sca Fell one. I can feel another epic coming on 🙂 Report & pics on here tomorrow night hopefully.

Let's hope last night's rain hasn't wetted out the trails

No gates on Black Combe except at the bottom both sides.

Did the Great Dodd/Old Coach Road on Sunday. Just the one pedally bit, 2.5miles pretty good, very dry, not so good after rain I would have thought.

It's only a bike forum after all, why take it so seriously?

All the people I have had the good fortune to meet from STW have been pretty sound folk 😀

Scienceofficer – don't apologise for being rude this is STW after all.

FYI – BB 1 month old, started creaking at Skiddaw House. Rode to Keswick Mountain Bikes where new Hope one fitted. On inspection bearing had disintegrated on non drive side. Two weeks later bang – axle snapped.

Also had SS brake pads part company from backing plates in the wilds of Torridon.

Moral – if you buy crap goods expect crap performance.

I would not use Supershite BB if I were given it. Previously a collapsed bearing on a SS BB gouged a trough in my Axle and it sheared. XTR cranks too so the twenty odd quid saved on BB cost 300 for new crankset. Avoid like the plague.

I couldn't care less what Rooney does/says wearing an Ing-er-lund shirt. As long as he's home fit & fresh for next season is all that matters.

For 48 weeks a year he's a c*nt in red why want him to do well now?
