It’s a short course fixed route where you have to visit each control in a strict order using orienteering type mapping, fastest time wins. There are two courses, first one in Lee & then one in Cragg with the link ride not timed. Both times then added together for overall winner. Age cats apply.

Would like to point out again the trails will remain open for anyone riding up there on the day but please be aware that there is an event on.

No Ben Tues/Thurs again this week

that’s a very clever way of selling a 2006 model as 2010 one. Alternatively you could by my 2009 carbon FSR for £1500 inc XTR 970 crank & mechs, mono mini pros crossmax SLR in vgc

My apologies for not spending my life attached to my keyboard Kenny

I’m glad you refer to yourselves as fellow forum members instead of fellow mountain bikers, says it all as does the ‘its raining’ comment

I have little time for hypercrites goodbye

Dead bodies & computer glitches apart what a great event in a great area for riding. Thanks to Andy & all who helped to make it possible.

No thanks to moaning whingeing nimby hypocrites who haven’t got the balls to come down & insult me in person. Yes you Kenny, skulking behind your keyboard like a good little single-tracker.

Any news on the body? with any luck it’s one of the moaners.

Actually after reading Bawbag’s latest whinge the time has come to ban mountain biking in the Pentalnds outright.

Plenty of tyre marks in those pictures so the locals, sorry people with the most informed opinions, are riding there.

The organiser is saying that the routes will be out of bounds but even if they aren’t it is no business of yours.

As above, bunch of whining moaners.

I for one will not be cancelling my entry.

I will also not have any guilt, trepidation or other fears about riding a few trails that may or may not be wet on the day just so they can be in pristine condition should the local elite wish to ride them once every couple of years.

Maybe we should shut the countryside per se cos its been raining?

just thought of another – Creag Mhor above Fords of Avon, I approached from Tomintoul via Glen Avon. Bit of a carry beyond Faindouran & the descent down the Lairigh an Laoigh to Bynack Stable is ace. Did a loop from Loch Morlich SYHA. Also could be accessed from Linn of Dee. Superb remote country.

Bike by (old) Fords of Avon refuge

Chaisgein Mor in Fisherfield from Poolewe, reckon it would go. Bit of a push beyond Carnmore Lodge but the run back down would be justifiable. (Walked it but looked promising).

loving this thread BTW I’ll try to think of some more

Yes I’ve pushed a pram to the top of both Gulabin & Freachadein. I could ride up both of them in the right conditions, track all the way to the top. Walked Monomanach, track up to about half way then a grassy singletrack to summit.

    Gulabin

    Freachadein

Leathad has the Minigaig pass going over it near to summit. Also Carn Ealasaid near Lecht Ski slopes would easily go.

Ben Gulabin at Spittal of Glenshee, Monomanach bit further East, Cairn Freachadein at Kingussie & Leathad an Taobhain in Glen Feshie.

Thanks everyone – much appreciated comments/advice. Looks like a no-no for the XRC then.

Lower leg service monthly or thereabouts admittedly they have done more miles than an average pair of forks & oop North mud is an ever present. However let’s stay on topic please.

My main concerns about the DT Swiss are flex & longetivity. I well remember the 28mm original SIDs flexing considerately. Is this an issue with the XRC?

Cheers I’m a SID fan myself but currently going through a set a year due to stanchion wear. Just looking at alternatives & the weight of these if nothing else made me look twice.
