Usually going my fastest just after leaving the bike, but got no speedo on my body to tell speed. I’m sure there is a scientific formula based on bruise size and body weight to calculate speed of impact though 😳

mav12 is that T Mobile offer still on. On my tablet this very moment in work, that deal would be great for what I need.

Yep…a blob of grease is much cheaper than any new component.
Preventative maintenance will take a bit more of your time up, but hopefully prevent failures of many expensive bits 😉

That looks like a Campag fit headset. I’m not sure about your Canyon, but it wouldn’t have fitted the Nerve AM I owned.

Rubber Queens here too, in Black Chilli flavour. Very easy to fit, no broken levers. And on the levers topic, try Pedros levers, SUPERB. They make Park levers look like Christmas cracker contents 8)

Contaminated rotors !, more likely to be the pads. Try new pads and before fitting them clean the rotors with some solvent or alcohol. Pads will absorb oil, rotors won’t 😉

Yes you can, and the system 8 pads too, and Shimano XT 755 too. I have never bought genuine Hope M4 pads. I mainly buy the old Shimano ones off ebay for about a fiver (sintered), they usually come with a £14.95 price sticker on. They work great and last for ages 😉

Can’t quote on supermotos, but from having a few enduro bikes for green laneing in the past. Which included KTM EXC 400 & 520, Yam WR400 and Honda CRF 250X, I would go for a KTM or other European model with 6 speeds as opposed to the Jap 5 speed models. That extra gear makes a big difference, not only to top speed, but also for more relaxed cruising.

I hope not 😳 I plan on giving it the odd spin if we ever get some sun this year. I don’t fancy those brakes in the wet though.

Seems that ebay have caused this problem. I have been ebaying for 10 years, and only recently I have had the same issue with a UK only item being bid on by an overseas bidder. Previously if you set up an ebay sale only members from the countries you had selected to sell to would be able to place a bid on that item. But now anybody seems to be able to bid and win an item. As for Bulgaria, I would take others advice, refund his payment and offer a ‘second chance offer’ to the next highest (UK) bidder 😉

Used both with no problems, and to be fair to Loco, he replies/responds to questions on here very fast ( musn’t have much to do 🙄 ), which can be a harsh environment for some peeps trying to promote their business.

Not sure about which frame, but I would go with Winstanleys for the service. As far as I can recall Active sport is one of Mark Anthony’s emporiums. Good luck whatever you choose 😉

LOCO as far as I know Stendec use their own branded oil. I think it is supplied by Millers, going by the large empty drums I have seen there. But I could be putting 2+2 together and getting 5. The wiper seals were Fox ones that I fitted. All the other seals and bushes were Bos.

    Oil weight was 7.5 😉

Prior to selling my Deville’s, I got a quote from Surf Sales for a service and new bushes fitting. They wanted £160 plus postage both ways 😯 I ended up taking them to Dave Garland at Stendec who wanted £120 for the same work using Bos parts. I actually ended up paying £107 as my main seals were as new (they had only been fitted 1 or 2 rides previous) No postage costs as he lives 15 mins away.

Had exactly the same issue with a new chain on a Midleburn ring, it looked good but the chain was plucking when released. I have now gone to an On One stainless SS ring. Only £20, I can’t say how good it will be long term, but it still looks as new after 4 mths and chain runs so much cleaner. I was amazed how much of the black crap on my chain had come from the old alloy ring 😯

Just measured mine, which has an external Hope lower and internal Hope upper headset….you will only be left with 30-32mm steerer showing. Not what I would feel safe with. If your 36’s have 1 1/8″ steerer, try an integral lower headset. I run my Mega with 150 Rev’s which I prefer over 160 Deville’s for the type of trail centre riding I do 8)

He may be waiting for a shipping invoice if you only quoted UK shipping. This happened to me only 2 weeks ago (I have been ebaying for 10 years)The item I listed was only set up for UK postage, which in the past would only allow UK buyers/bidders to win the item. However, this time a guy from Sweden bought my ‘Buy-it-now’ item. I got a postage quote and sent him an invoice, he paid, I sent, he received and left + feedback. All happy bunny’s.

Just check his feedback history 1st, if its 100% good, then you should be fine.

As far as losing money, ebay will bill you for about 10% (final value fee and maybe Paypal fee). According to them, the item is sold. If the item is not paid for, then you can go through the channels to reverse this so that you don’t get stung for ebay charges.

Had same issue when I fitted a new chain. I was running an alloy front sprocket 1×10 spd, it looked good but chain was worn. New chain was getting plucked by sprocket as it released from it. The original chain and sprocket were new together. I usually get at least 3 chains use out of steel front sprocket, but this alloy (midleburn) was shot after 1 chain. So now I am running an On One stainless single speed sprocket, only £20 and the chain runs far cleaner too. I didn’t realise how much of the crap on my chain was black alloy muck from the front sprocket.

The On One ss sprocket may not work on 2or3x10 due to not being ramped.

The only issue I have had in the last ten years of with ‘Payment pending’ have been when details of the person you have been sending payment to are wrong, ie: could be just a full stop or underscore missing from their payment address, resulting in no address for the payment to go to. Double check with the person selling that their payment address is what you have. Hope this makes sense, I have had a few shandy’s now 😳

turbo1397….if its reliability your after, stay with the 1.9 engine. The 2.0 engine may be more refined and punchy, but it has issues. especially early models. Oil pump drives are weak, and can snap (f%8ked engine), injectors are known to fail £300-400 each 😯 . If, like me , you were lucky enough to get a VW recall, injectors replaced free 🙂

Good luck with whatever you buy 😉

I have a 2006 Civic 2.2 ctdi Sport(71k miles)and Mrs fivespot has a 2005 A3 Tdi 1.9 (111k miles). I have only had the Civic about 9 mths, no faults or problems in that time, but the clutch has always been a bit juddery (suspect a DMF issue) but has never got any worse. £120 PA road tax not £100, economy has not been what I was hoping for, low 40’s knocking about, 50 on motorway. Great on SMOOTH fast A roads, but crap over anything with a hint of roughness. On the plus side, the seats are very comfy and supportive. It doesn’t pull from as low down as most diesels (around 2000 RPM for proper boost as opposed to about 1400/1500 for other diesels I have owned/driven) this has been improved no end by a black box from ebay, as well as more MPG. Big boot, partly because of no spare wheel, and partly down to clever rear seat pivot design when folding down. Not Audi build quality, but not bad either. My 1st Jap car in over 35 years of driving, mainly because my last car (2006 VW Passat) had more electrical problems than the previous 50 cars I have owned put together. If the ride and clutch were a bit more refined, then I would be very pleased with it.

Onto the A3. We have had this about 2 1/2 years at least, apart from normal servicing and tyres, it has needed nothing. In the last 3 moths it has had a random showing of a warning light on the dash, starting, performance and economy are unchanged. Although the mileage is 40k more than the Civic, it drives smoother and with a more solid feel, uses no oil or other fluids. It is a base model will few extras (no on board computer) but seems to go further on £20 worth of fuel than the Civic. I think a higher spec version with a bit more poke would be a lot more fun, but for what Mrs fivespot wants, its been perfect.

Mrs fivespots opinion is slightly different. She loves her A3 and thinks the Civic is a girly car (but what does she know)

As far as Golfs/Jettas of that year, I can’t comment on the years you are looking at. BUT of the two VW’s I have owned:-

2002 Golf 1.6 petrol…the dullest car we have ever owned ( and I have owned 2 Allegro’s ) like driving a water bed with a whining gearbox (only 62k miles) and then the exhaust fell off. Got rid of that for 2002 Focus 1.6 petrol, WOW, great handling and better ride quality. Kept it nearly 3 years (a long time for us) only parts replaced appart from service items were front drop links (cheap easy home job)

2006 Passat 2.0 Tdi essate (about 110k mile) Tailgate kept opening itself, doors wouldn’t open, used oil, multiple suspension knocks, the dash had more warning lights than I can remember.

Hope this helps a bit in your choice.

P.S. Try a Focus 1.6 TDCI, cheaper, low tax, great ride/handling
