Si, did you get to Llandegla today ? I was there between 10-12 but did'nt see anyone on a Chumba. Bit windy, but trail conditions good.

    falkirk-mark…spot-on.

trail_rat…I too use my car as a form of transport, but I value my/my passengers safety too. Your cheap tyres will one day let you down when some numpty suddenly brakes too hard in front of you, or some old codger or kid runs out in front of you.
I put the best tyres I can afford on my car and mtb, and in both cases it makes the driving/riding more fun as well as safer 😉

spooky_b329 wtf !?…Put the best tyres on the front on a front wheel drive car, all your steering, power transmision and most of your braking are put through those two tyres. As far as (rear!) oversteer on a front wheel drive car is concerned. That is as much down to poor driving technique (lifting off mid bend ) as tyre choice.

Took cheap (with loads of tread) tyres off my wifes Focus as they were leathal on anything other than bone dry tarmac. Bought some of the latest Goodyear NCT's. The difference in grip was amazing. It was nothing to do with tread depth, as the tyres are nearly at their limit now, and still gripping well.

Maybe the SPV valve partially or fully stuck, giving little or no damping, hence the topping out noise.

Have you tried 30% sag ?, especialy if the shock has a firm Propedal tune.

Flows would give a better tyre profile for grip if you are going to run 2.35 High Rollers 😉

Currently running two sets of Hoops, one set on 5.1's and another on Flows. I did have a set on 4.2's, which I put 2.25 Racing Ralphs from my 5.1's on, they were a lot more skittish in bends, just from the more rounded tyre profile (now sold because of that reason)

I had an old secondhand set that did this. The piston inside the lever on some old units is made of some type of plastic, which in time swells and gets tight. A replacement piston kit with the later metal piston, sorted the problem.

Hi LoCo, not found any good books yet, but put a search in Google for 'Shim Stack' and that brought up quite a bit of interesting info.

RP2 has 1 fixed propedal setting, RP23 has an extra knob with 3 different propedal settings. If your propedal works OK, don't waste your money on a RP23.

Don't bother trying to get it out, just knock it further down the steerer tube (a long 1/2" socket extension will do fine ) and refit a new one.

not all end caps are the same. Hope Pro 2's are the same both sides, Hope Bulb's are odd lengths either side. Some other hubs may not accept a 20mm axle due to bearing size.

spooky…before you start the car tomorrow morning, take the cap off the expansion bottle, if poss get someone to start the engine while you watch the expansion bottle for air bubbles, if you get some on start-up, chances are the HG has gone.

Focus….Best secondhand car my wife has ever had…in 27 years of driving. Previous car was a Golf, the most uninspiring to drive car we have ever owned, and not that reliable either.

I spoke to him before Xmas, and he said it was running a bit late. Looking at Feb. He was busy doing other filming (his bread and butter job) The bike stuff seems to be more of a hobby for him. If its as good as Home, it will be worth waiting for.

You can get 5.5mm allen keys, which when knocked in, should work. Or get a small file and carefully file it out to fit a 6mm key.

I tried the ripcord set on my Hustler. It looked the part, but rear mech cable snapped after 3-4 months and strands of reinforcing wire from the outers tried forcing their way through the ferrules. I'm going back to Gore Ride-on, twice the price, but more than twice as good.
