Those reflectors should come off before any ride ! not only will they unbalance the wheels and throw you off, but if they catch the sun, the reflection could blind a nearby rider, leading to an accident of untold proportions YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED 8)

Take it off NOW ! If the trail Police catch you with one of those on, you could be made to a Shell suit in public 😆

+1 for Weber. Not the cheapest, but when you pick a bag up and feel how heavy/dense the stuff is, then burn it for 2-4 times longer than the cheaper stuff, it realy is a lot better value in the long run. The old ‘buy cheap buy twice’ adage, even applies to charcoal. Its the XTR of charcoal 😉

Had mine for 2 years and love it, had a Five for a while in that time and it never put the same mile on my face as the 160. Its not the fastest climber, but because of its length, it stays planted. So far it is the best bike I have owned, and the list includes….5 Spot, Cove Hustler, Ellsworth Moment, Spesh SX Trail, 2010 Five, Canyon Nerve AM. Mine is currently running Marz 55 RC3 Ti’ and RP23, still comes in under 32 lbs. Buy and enjoy 😉

Deville 160 std. steerer direct from Bos europe work out about £730. I am trying to justify getting some instead of my 55 RC3 Ti’s, but to be honest they are the best 160 forks I have had so far. Also had 2010 Float RC2’s (not impressed) and Lyrik 170 DH Solo Air’s (more impressed than Fox, but not in the same league as the 55 RC3 Ti’s)

Take satisfaction from the fact that they had only got that far and already needed a break. I bet they also threw their empty bottles on the ground afterwards 8)

    Marko…nothing there mate 😥

rondo…I am expecting the headset in the post tomorrow. But then I need to machine an adaptor ring for the lower cup, as Works Components don’t make a lower cup in the dimension of the Verve head tube. I will keep you posted when I get it all sorted.

I’m in the process of building an AM6 from a frame bought off here a few weeks ago (£450 and mint) as far as weight goes, the bare frame with shock is 6.9 lbs, exactly the same as the 2010 Five frame I just sold. Just waiting now for Works Components to supply me with a 1.5 degree angleset. This hasn’t gone quite to plan, as the Canyon head tube is an unusual dimension, and nobody seems to stock an angleset to suit.

I use a semi fluid grease, doesn’t cause pawls to stick, and doesn’t spread out like thick grease, causing the pawls to become noisy again. Simples 🙂

Over the last 18 mths I have tried Fox float 160 (fit) RC2’s, Lyrik 170 solo air DH’s and now running Marzocchi 55 RC3 Ti’s all on my Alpine 160, so I know the bike well and only the forks have changed. The Marz 55 RC3 Ti’s are by far the best damped of the 3, not just in plushness, but in cornering grip and the confidence boost they give. Back that up with a 3 year warranty with NO service stipulations and a price to beat the rest. They are a touch heavier than the other 2, but then I am 14.5 stone 😳

What about an OnOne stem http://www.on-one.co.uk/imgs/products/900x650_constWH/STOOCNC_P1.jpg, cheaper and lighter again. When you look at a std. 1 1/8″ alloy steerer that these stems will bolt to, its the steerer that looks to be the weakest link 😉

Sent a frame by Parcel Force 48 a few weeks ago, value £795, £42 bloody quid. Won’t be doing that again.

Have had 2010 Fox 160 Float RC2’s, didn’t float my boat.
Then tried 2010 Rock Shox Lyrik solo air 170 DH’s, much better, but a little harsh even on the lowest compression settings.
Now running those improved 3 year warranty Marz 55 RC3 Ti’s (in purple), very plush, controled, and above all, seem to offer more grip when cornering. The only fork I would consider (going by reviews) after these, would be Bos Deville’s.

Presta for me because I run a home made tubeless set up. If I do get a puncture (only 2 in 4 years), I can undo the Presta valve and fit a presta tube without disturbing my rim strip (20″ tube cut to fit)simples 😉

good shocks, as long as you like propedal

Float R isn’t a Propedal shock, Float RP is 🙄

No shock is fit and forget. They all need a service at some time.

If they fit, Shimano always seem to last for me. Tried the fancy KCNC ones a while back, they only lasted a few weeks before bearings were ****.
