I like the jumps in the gully there, I thought they were really well built.

They are, I pretty much learn't to jump there.
The problem is the people who try to improve them.(and leave litter, but thats another story) The chap who originally built those jumps doesn't really build too much anymore, only ever see him knocking other peoples stuff down and maintaining some very busy trails…
Helped a guy out with a broken collarbone this winter, he crashed on the other side of surrey hill, not the gulley, had to walk out a bit but eventually met the ranger. The ambulance service don't have a 4×4 ambulance and the current fleet are FWD, so in the summer they may get there but if wet and the ranger isn't around it's probably walk out or fly out.

Always ask if people are alright, helped fix a chain before..
Had a puncture once and found that my pump was broken, started walking and a bloke rode past with a flipping trackpump poking out of his rucksack, shouted after him when I realised but he didn't stop…

Fair enough, ran the stinger in Les Arcs last year and never had an issue.
For the price of the NSX-C4 id personally get the stinger and a bashguard as you've then something to use back here with a 2 chainring setup if you want to, but the nsx will be perfect if thats the way you'd prefer to go.

I use a blackspire stinger with a front mech. Only about £25 too, provided you have a front mech you can use.

21 miles, when i've worked it out I get an average of about 14mph, do a few dirttracks to avoid a couple of roads that are used as rat runs by HGV's and are not fun to ride down in rush hour..

Theres a guy at swinley who minces down the (barely) DH runs on a stumpy HT in a full 661 suit!

If it's the same guy you're talking about that i've spoken to at the jump gulley before, hes had quite a few crashes there and doesn't feel comfortable riding without it, seemed nervous but loved riding, fair play to him…

Drivers who use their car as a weapon need to be taken off the road. There is no difference from walking round threatening people with a knife, a gun or any other lethal weapon. Doesn't matter if he actually intended to hurt the guy or not.

I wish the law agreed with you, had a very close call with an undertaking driver who really just decided to ignore the fact I was riding in the 'cycle' lane he decided to use to advance past about 5 cars, I lifted his windscreen wiper as I rode past in traffic, he intentionally drove into me a little later, I took a trip over the bonnet and he drove off, had witnesses, police pulled him over and arrested him, the lot.. It went to court and he got 3 points and a £70 fine?!?!

Got a LHD Corrado, never had any problems with it in the UK tbh, and it's not costing anymore to insure.
I forgot to mention it was left hand drive until i'd gone through buying insurance the first time and was told it makes no difference..
Learnt to look down the left hand side of cars to overtake and if anything it forces me to be more careful, don't really see it as a big problem, you're not going to be doing much of that in a day van though are you..

    Jupiters Travels – Ted Simon
In the late '70s Ted Simon rode 63,000 miles over four years through fifty-four countries in a journey that took him around the world. Through breakdowns, prison, war, revolutions, disasters and a Californian commune, he travelled into the depths of fear and reached the heights of euphoria. He met astonishing people and was treated as a spy, a welcome stranger and even a god. For Simon the trip became a journey into his own soul, and for many others – including bikers Charley Boorman and Ewan McGrergor – it provides an inspiration they will never forget.

    – warning: may induce a desire to go travelling –

Had a gravity dropper for about a year now. It works and I like it..
Wore off the anodising on a thomson quite quickly before and probably was starting on the inside of seattube too, so look on it as frame preservation also…

"You should have a bell" normally just after I've said hello / hi / morning / excuse me. Admitedly aggresive bell ringing is more fun as it does make them jump, but I've grown out of it.

Get this regularly on the ride to work, I go down a river towpath, A bell even with a single 'ting' regularly made people pretty much jump in the river and have been told the bell was rude, so went to saying 'excuse me', exactly the same effect, and get told to get a bell.. Can't win… Maybe I should get a WW2 air raid siren wired up to a dynamo….

Phone conference, or get a video conference setup? Some companies and hotels have Video conferencing rooms you can hire and i'm sure this will be the same for Germany, Spain etc… Seems a bit mental to travel that far just to have a meeting…

Currently working my way through Spike Milligan's war diaries that a friend at work lent me, is this a valid recommendation for this thread?! Really good, the lighter side of war maybe… 🙂
