Can’t imagine the OS on an external drive will do performance any favours.

Had a puncture that the other half didn’t notice for a bit so driving on it destroyed the tyre past the point of even attempting to use the foam cr%p. Luckily local so borrowed the spare from a friends car for a bit.

Have since gone and bought a space saver kit:
    http://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_c-max_16_space_saver_spare_wheel_kit_f_1827860_c_963.htm
Needs a tyre so about £130 in total.

Like it, just wish it had one exhaust and reasonable sized wheels, but then I guess there’d be nothing to tell everyone your car is ‘special’…

Microsoft have a couple of tools you can use, i’d stick with that.

Perfect opportunity to do a nice clean build..

    Windows Easy transfer.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/products/features/windows-easy-transfer

Used a few times, copy your profile to a USB stick, Re-build machine, Plug in USB and re-apply stuff. 🙂

Theres the Command Line based USMT (User State Migration Tool) too:

Does it have to be Carbon, and can you wait until February?

I’m in a similar position, loving the look of the Bird Aeris, although I live near Swinley so that’s probably why:

Think the Bird people sometimes lurk on here too.

Peaky Blinders. First series was brilliantly dark, violent and moody. Superb casting too. Series two kicked off on Thursday.

Only just found out about this,it looks good.
Tried watching first episode of season 2, but not following at all.

This is something that annoys me about the iPlayer, stuff is never available long enough.
Why do the BBC not have the first series available on iPlayer?! Other channels manage to host more than one series of something.

Hopefully netflix will get it later in the year…

Thats nice, didn’t know they would have flat bars in the future… Is your suspension setup correctly? Looks like you have more travel to play with, or are we all running bikes like that in the future too? 😛

Held meetings to get us freehold, it started well but ultimately went nowhere, a few other residents want to just pay and be left alone, that and the feud it transpired was going on on the ground floor over plant pots in communal gardens meant people refused to speak to each other about it!

Don’t forget service charges in the flat.

This, every so often we get an increase on building management charges, yet never seem to get anything fixed, previous requests for a breakdown of what has actually been done just gets a reply of threat of court if we don’t pay up! Basically we pay a f’load for I don’t know what and get threatened with court if we complain! Tried getting other residents involved to move or go alone but they seem content to just stick head in the sand and pay up. looking into it further, the law even seems to help them have you over a barrel. Never living in a flat again.

Lived in a house that shared a 1987 Honda Accord that went to just over 300,000 abused miles before the gearbox started to go, we were driving it (auto) with it slipping completely in 2nd before reaching high revs and dropping heavily into 3rd near the end. Think it was bought for about £300/£400.

I’d be looking at Honda, Toyota, Nissan.

Gumtree would be best bet i’d say.

Very biased, was once knocked off my bike by a driver, very intentional, he drove off, other drivers followed and he was arrested. Thankfully only cuts, bruses and a smashed lid/bike. Guess what charge/fine he got….

Attempted murder or ‘driving without due care and attention’, 3 points, £60 fine.

I was just going on the wiki page:

Fair point though, 9 years not 21 years:
    Duratec-HE 1.8 L, 2.0 L – 2005–present – DOHC I4

Have actually looked at a couple of Focus C-Max and Mondeo Estates for about 3k with around 70K miles recently.
Have a little one on the way and currently have a Passat 130 PD that’s just about on 185,000, starting to develop lots of little niggles (none engine related though) figured we’d get something that’s not potentially going to cost a lot in the very near future, going by threads on here though, I should maybe just keep the Passat?!

Intrigued as to what Flicker knows about these engines, the Duratec is in a lot of vehicles, being chain driven and going on the fact they are still in production after 21 years you’d expect them to be pretty reliable? no?

    Hope this all works out.

Current one came from Amazon, I’d look at AOC, currently have an AOC i2353Fh and for the money (about £125) it’s been superb.

Would you not be looking for a plug in box? Company called vanAaken used to import PSi Motorsport boxes – about the only thing i can think of to come out of Luxembourg! Not sure they still do, ebay maybe?!

    From a quiche Google:

looking at the service book, that engine without a particulate filter will
    take VW 505, 506 and 507 oil.

With a filter, it requires 507 oil.

When asking what oil theyre using, they’ll have to give more than just fully synthetic 5w30. You need to findout the vw code.

Are you seeing the memory constantly maxed out and paging to disk? You may get a rough idea from the amount of Virtual Memory the system is using.
If you have a spare memory stick, you could try using Readyboost and see how much that takes you up to, although I’d guess it would need a pretty speedy USB stick:
    http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-use-readyboost-to-speed-up-windows-7.navId-397912.html

    Have you considered an SSD?

I had this on a 2002 vw passat.

Its the rear tyres, they wear funny and you get “saw tooth effect” on them and it creates the noise you speak of.

Try swapping your wheels front to back to see if it cures it.

    Cheers

    Steve

I had this on a 2001 Passat, there was almost a chunk of tread missing every 5cm or so on the inside edge of the tyre, moved them to the front first, the noise was ridiculous, replaced the damaged tyres and had 4 wheel alignment done as well – 20k on and it’s fine.
