What about just getting a few things anodised yourself.

I’ve plugged this company a few times on here now:

Some examples of the stuff they do.

White Onza Porcupine, just so that I can pull skids and leave white lines everywhere.

And the Flite, had a grey one, don’t know what happened to it, they’ve gone up in price too, obviously, still remember I saved up and bought it in 1995 it was £55.

practice makes perfect, good to have some challenging stuff in there… Think I might have to try and get out earlier this week then. My friend had a little ‘off’ through the bombhole you mentioned too, hoping by the volume of traffic that it will soon wear in though.

Good job on the trail BOB and Gorrick. 🙂

Can we have a wallride please!?

Rode today, very nice section, and was a busy bit of trail, rode down it twice on the ride each time passing a few people coming the other way.

I’ve had one for 3 years now, it’s just passed 80k, 3rd owner full service etc. and (touch wood) haven’t had any major problems with it.

I think Aus pretty much summed it up…

There are faster and more efficient cars out there, but the Corrado is good fun, has nice handling and feels bloody fast, also the VR6 sounds good. 🙂

If anything when buying be a little wary of the Storm model, despite being only slightly different from a regular VR6 (paint colour, alloy style, colour coded grille and two badges) some people seem to put a stupid amount of money on top of the asking price.

x9 shifters, work well and also haven’t got the stupid gear number windows, and an x7 rear mech, shifting is fine and its a bit cheaper if I smash the rear mech….

Jason, what BB have you got? 113mm is fine for the RS7’s I have, theres a bigger gap than that, i’m on a shimano UN54 bb. I tried a 118mm and the chainline was really bad.

Had the same drraggy tyres for a bit, put a maxxis ignitor 2.1 on the rear and kept the super tacky 2.35 high roller up front, made a world of difference…

    You need a 73-113mm bb…

Had middleburn square taper cranks for a long time now, always used the UN54 BB and it’s never been a problem, they have usually lasted about a year and would still be running, just start to grind when they go…

There are a few square taper still out there, i’d say stick with the UN54 though or splash out for a Royce Titanium Bottom brakcet.

From what I could find on an internet search engine, the c16r was made from 1995 to 1998…

Retrobike has all of the old orange catalogues online, go through them and i’m sure you’ll find the right year:

I have got magura hs33 on my bike its a 94 fire mountain using 117 rims, not broken anything yet, but then again i’ve only been riding it for about 10 years like this, so theres still time…
The maguras are a W**ker to setup, maybe the guy at the bike shop is scared of them…

If Charge are reading: Theres a longish section of a bloke skidding which not many people like, and then the ad cuts out just as someones about to ride down some singletrack, can it be swapped around?!

I have Square taper RS7, running a 36t middle, needed a spacer behind the bb too, the chaindevice created that spacer.
73-113mm is still correct, any smaller and the cranks would pin against the bb and not move…

    no problem. 🙂

Well the Patriot doesn’t have ISCG mounts so it will be mounted with the bb shell, so i’d say 113mm (ISIS and Square Taper) will be fine, start going any longer and you’ll be in bad chainline territory…

    Run a 73-113mm on my orange 5…

You may also need to check theres clearance between the middle ring and the swingarm for the chain to move onto to the granny ring, but not sure if this is an issue with Patriots…

    Copypasta from middleburn site:

Having the right BB length is crucial to having gears that work as well as intended.

Middleburn cranks run a 48mm chain line for cross country and 50mm for downhill

For a standard MTB setup a 113mm axle is needed for ISIS or square taper.

However, there are far too many variables to always be able to predict what bottom bracket you need. BB-mount (“E-type”) front derailleur and chain devices can throw a stick in the works, as can a lot of oddly designed frames.

If in doubt have your local bike shop fit your cranks.

A chain has to have a powerlink IMO, currently use SRAM PC991 chains, about £25 – £30, and last quite a while.
Also heard very good things about the KMC X9 SL which are about £50 but they are meant to last a long time so probably worth the extra £££…

yep, had a whole frame anodised silver and linkage plate done black, and have had quite a few other bike bits done by Acorn Plating over the years.
Can’t remember how much it was as it was a while ago, best give them a call…

I am running exactly this on mine…
73-113mm, anything shorter and the cranks wont go on, anything longer and you’ll have a hideous chainline.
