How old is the wheel? had a wheel that was about 5 years old, started breaking a spoke pretty much everytime I went riding, lost 5 spokes in a week of riding so have had it rebuilt.

Give the Bell Sweep XC a look, really well ventilated and pretty light lid, bought mine initially because of fit and because I found it doesn’t give as much of a mushroom head like the giro helmets that I’ve tried do.

Have an ethirteen DRS, bb mounted, it’s great, don’t even notice it’s there and don’t have any noticable drag.

You are meant to deflate the tyres, did this for Canada with no problems, the tyres should stay seated while deflated, just take the bike to a petrol station when you get there and reseat the tyres if thats what they need…

A clue to the origin of the name Swinley comes from the Doomsday book which in 1086 referred to ‘Swinleie’ as pannage for pigs or swine. The forest had been granted by the Saxon king Edmund to the Abbey of Abingdon in 942 and during the pre Norman period the Forest was the home of wild boar, wild ox and red deer which were introduced by William I who “afforested” the area (brought it under Forest Law) in 1079.

Rode a Nicolai gearbox bike in whistler for a day, absolutley amazing, flew down everything, so stable and controllable over jumps too, i’m guessing because all the weight was central.
Got a lot of attention because no one had really seen a Nicolai there too, Even had tourists who didn’t ride asking if they could get photos next to it.

Fixing braking bumps to then watch a Rider come through and lock up the back brake for no real reason, usually get an ‘I cant help it’ when we shout for them not to?! yes you can, you don’t have a problem with the front brake ffs?!?!

litter, especially inner tubes etc. in trees, that took **** effort to get it there, why not use the effort to put it in your bag/pocket..

    Need a crank extractor:
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=7329

Or middleburn do some neat self extracting crank bolts:
    http://www.middleburn.co.uk/access_crankbolts.php

Funnily enough, a couple of days ago I overheard a guy chatting to his mate about a bike that came to the shop he works at (not sure which but seemed like halfords) with square taper cranks that needed removing, he didn’t once mention a crank extractor, did mention using a screwdriver, hammer etc. and then said ‘thank god for Hollowtech on new bikes, makes taking the crank off so much easier’… 🙁

Onzadog-Yep it’s true the greenest cars are the most recyclable and the Jeep Wrangler (of major manufacturers) including fuel consumption was worked out to be the greenest. The Toyota was one of the worst due to amount of electronics and that battery which is a recycling nightmare. Our super goverment insists that all minister (below built proof issue) have a Prius, even though Toyota could not(would not) give them CO2 life cost. Prius all marketing and no substance.

Yep they could do that, the first stage is to dip the frame in an acid bath though so you’ll need to source some replacement graphics. 🙂

Had a frame clear anodised and it took a lot of abuse and came up looking fine, can’t remember how much it was though, paid a bit extra to get the frame polished.

And three albums I think you’d get into:

I have the exact ones as in the picture and can tell you they are 2006. differences: have a split clamp for the handlebar (single on 2005), and a silver reservoir cover (black in 2004). 2007 onwards were a black in colour and had an aluminium adjuster dial.

Who chipped it? Theres a lot of companies doing this, not all offer a decent warranty and probably a small minority to another owner, is it actually chipped as in they have reprogrammed the ecu or is it a plug in box?
