This happened to me, and I don’t remember a thing from the crash either, you definitely did the right thing and have nothing to feel guilty about. My friend had the same as you, personally, I am glad they were around..

Brain injuries need time to heal, a very long time, for me, it’s been a long road and things are.. different, but they’re ok.

I’d strongly recommend contacting headway: https://www.headway.org.uk/ they’ve been invaluable.

Him being out says to me that we still don’t take head injury seriously enough in this sport. If he’s had a skull fracture, he shouldn’t be out, he should be resting.

Surprised no-ones mentioned an eletric car. Cheap to run, little to service, no road tax etc. You should get a Nissan Leaf for that money just make sure the battery isn’t still on lease (FLEX).

A mate had a Nicolai Nucleon ST, spent a week riding it in Whistler when I was there in 2007, so f’in heavy (52lbs) yet so balanced in the air as all of the weight was in the middle.

It was a pretty thing: 😆

Got a lot of random people come up asking for a photo with it too?!

Been waiting for something with a gearbox and belt drive for a few years now, surprised it’s now only starting to take off tbh.

    No off-street parking?

You will probably be able to just have the car go off and charge itself when you’re not using:

I’m running Specialized Trigger Pro 38c, mixed commute; road, fireroad and canal towpath, they roll well and seem to be holding up on the wear front too.

Would consider a c max, are they roomy enough in the back for 3 kids?

That’s where that recommendation falls over! Middle seat in the back isn’t as wide as the other two so its a squeeze for three.

Fair enough, I still miss our old Passat estate, really comfy and swallowed bikes, Mrs hated driving it though, found it was too big.

We now have a 2008 CMax, and i’d recommend that, (just not diesel) Petrol, Manual, Rear seats fold forward or come out completely to make a van almost for my occasional bike trips,(although they weigh a bit!) it’s been reliable and is really quite nice to drive too, with higher up seating position that you’re looking for, Mrs wants to replace it with another when the mileage gets nearer 150k.

How do you Aeropress users find it? Mine seem to be a bit hit and miss and often end up too bitter. Have tried various methods but never quite got it right!

Maybe you are putting the water in too hot? There isn’t really any technique involved, no more than a cafetiere. How many variations on coffee in, water in and squish can you manage? If you are pouring the water straight from a boiling kettle you may get some bitterness

I too found I was getting bitterness at first, then kind of worked out a process: boil kettle, pour a bit of water through paperfilter to get it to seat, let the kettle cool for a few mins before putting in inverted Aeropress, stir for a few seconds, leave for about a minute, press into cup = good coffee everytime. 🙂

Do you need 4×4? Going on criteria in the OP i’d be looking at an estate.

Take an Aeropress in and use with a KeepCup, easy to use/clean and makes lovely coffee.

Start getting your solar PV fitted and your house set up for no electricity.

Great, loads of electricity in the middle of the day, **** all in the evening when I get home. They don’t ‘generate all your own electricity’ as the marketing puts it, they generate electricity for someone else, and then a coal fired power station runs your TV and heating in the evening.

Does it need to be petrol because it’s doing short trips? If the range fits and there’s room to have a charge point at home; Nissan Leaf or Renault Zoe.
Failing that I’d be looking at the Toyota Yaris Hybrid.

@slowjo on a downhill road section of my commute I can spin out but I live with it, otherwise it’s fine, i’m prob not that fit at the mo though, so could find it an issue one day!
On 38t solely because it’s the largest narrow wide chainring that superstar do, would prob get 40t if available,

1×10 setup: 38T narrow wide chainring up front to an 11-28 cassette, 10 speed. 105 rear mech, Tiagra levers.

If you want a bigger cassette on the rear, there’s this mod~:
