Second collagen supplementation – though not sure marine (as someone said above) is necessary? I’d go bone broth if you want to be all Guardian reader about it, or get bovine collagen protein powder by the kg from a body builder place if you’re more prosaic.

Also – Powerball wrist trainer for rebuilding strength in your arm, though it might be a good few weeks after the cast comes off before you can manage this even lightly.

Anyway, I loved Oasis BITD, but the last time I saw them was Glastonbury 2004 and they were rubbish.

    @ransos
was that when Liam was wearing a long white puffer jacket and he and Noel stood on opposite sides of the Pyramid stage without saying a word to each other through the whole set?

I was there too, I’m very tempted to try and get tickets as ^ that was the only time I’ve seen Oasis, and although I loved them as well it was indeed rubbish.

I don’t disagree @tjagain. But there might be value for someone to try it for a month and see if it e.g. knocks a migraine problem on the head (pun intended) or reduces chronic inflammation.

You’ll probably not get scurvy or bowel cancer quite that quickly :-)

Also TBH I’m forever taking a variety of supplements so I’m hardly the exemplar on sticking to these things to the degree some Youtube guru is going to claim is necessary. I maintain it is interesting and potentially helpful to try different diet approaches though.

Beef, eggs and salt is all the human body needs to thrive.

Totally disagree with this @lambchop. I’d add liver as well, then you’re all set :D.

More broadly, I don’t think taking a partisan stance on any particular dietary regime is particularly helpful.

Different diets work for different people, and there’s probably more good than harm in trying various different things for a month or two and seeing how you feel – especially if you’re trying to address a particular health concern.

I’ve various been full carnivore, hardcore paleo, and currently I’m eating a ‘conventionally’ healthy diet (which includes wheat and other carbs) – they’ve all suited me at different times when I’ve had different health and fitness goals, and different amounts of mental/time capacity to devote to this sort of stuff.

Awesome. Another two years and there’ll be no cable routing for droppers in frames anymore so we’ll be forced into adopting these.

I might be wrong, but I strongly suspect this would be the treadmill equivalent of buying a £129.99 “mountain bike” from Sports Direct.

Use it to help with research and write a first draft. Proof read and rewrite to suit your needs. It’s a tool to speed things up, not a panacea that will do your job for you.

Thank you, captain obvious. It’s still crap at writing descriptions of items for sale.

Ooh that’s good. What did you use?

It’s really not. The adjective-heavy crap that AI spits out is now instantly recognisable, and any discerning customer seeing it is immediately going to think “this shop is dropshipping from Aliexpress”.

I get cost of living, petrol, energy rises and think this is partly the issue, but I think we should still try and support small/independent business.

I agree with this premise wholeheartedly, but when it’s a gambling business, I’m on the other side of the fence. No criticism, but I’d argue it’s potentially doing more harm than good.

Check the Radavist review of RideNow tubes if you’re considering those – my experience is firmly in the negative ‘random deflation, no hole’ camp.

Probably too expensive (and there’s a subscription), but much cheaper ripoff versions are available.

^ ah, that’s interesting @sharkattack. I couldn’t figure out why they’re listed as a GBR team, it (sort of) makes sense now.

OP, I for one would like to put my hand up and apologise.

Your choice to define your online identity based on some Chinese brakes is totally validated by a factory team (current average team rider ranking, 160th) using them.

    Do you feel better now?

Just had a quick peruse of the “sale” – it’s all the same Sports Direct tat at the same prices.

I was on chaingang last night with someone on the Cervelo fast gravel bike (with road tyres on), it was no impediment to them at all.

Thank you for pointing that out @mashr :D . My comment was a joke (evidently a poor one) based on what used to be called enduro racing in the UK in the 00s.

As noted in this old Pinkbike article

In some countries, like the UK, there is need for some clarity – in the last few years some events called themselves enduros, long-distance races that didn’t use the timed stages and untimed liaisons which define enduro. As Gravity Enduro series organiser Steve Parr jokes, “the UK are lazy bastards, instead of saying endurance, they said, ‘oh, enduro, it’s shorter!’ They just shortened it and it stuck because it’s cool, it’s a nice name.”

Has the novelty of Enduro worn off? Has the top end of the results sheet gone too far towards DH (in both equipment and personal risk) to make the have-a-go-trail-rider reconsider if its actually what they want to spend their weekends doing?

If only there was a different kind of enduro, that was say, a 6h timed route round some cool trails, a bit like an MTB sportive… it’d never catch on ;-)

Final question, given that interest rates are all pretty low

Rates are around the highest they’ve been for the past twelve years (give or take…). Enough to tempt me away from Premium Bonds towards a guaranteed return for my emergency access cash anyway. That said, I’m unsure about children’s specific products too.

The PF BB on my Neil Pryde road bike had an absolutely incurable creak. I tried a screw-together Wheels MFG BB, extra strength Loctite bearing gap filler, Loctite primer – nothing worked.

    I’ve avoided them ever since.

I don’t see what could really go wrong with a block of CNC’d aluminium.

Is it 6061, 7075 or melted down old Coke cans?

That ‘Sliced Bread’ programme is such trash. It’s like Radio 4 presenting a guest feature on The One Show.

By comparison, it’s enough to give me the impression that Winifred off of You and Yours is a worthwhile consumer journalist :D

Could be made in the same factory

Is there any documented evidence of this happening? I know a lot of people say it to justify buying knock-offs, but when you watch the QC videos of carbon frames from China (and full disclosure, I’ve got a Chinarello – albeit I wasn’t so shameless as to get logos on there) it usually looks like they are being made in someone’s shed meth lab.

Assume everything on there is fake, even Shimano stuff that is close enough to RRP to make you wonder.

If he happens to be Polish, there’s a few websites that compile this sort of stuff. They were pleased to receive information about my grandfather:

Polskie Siły Powietrzne w II wojnie światowej (polishairforce.pl)
Pierwsza strona – Lista Krzystka – Polskie Siły Powietrzne w Wielkiej Brytanii 1940-1947

Must be similar sites for UK/other nationalities?

You know, your typical “Autumn american girl instagram” stuff.

    Perfect description :D .

I experience similar feelings at a similar time in September, but then I catch myself and remember how grim winter is in southern Scotland. I’d rather live somewhere room temperature all year round.

Do a search for 300gsm 100% cotton t-shirts, and find one you like.

Most of the cheap t-shirts that go wonky after five washes will be more like 120gsm.

Tech tees are for sports use only, wearing plastic clothes in other settings is frightful.

It is better, but still key to try to get (and keep) heat into it.

Can you prime it with boiling water first? I’ve wondered if temp might be an issue with these – but then again an Aeropress or V60 must take a similar/longer amount of brewtime, and I’ve never felt drinks from those aren’t hot enough.

Has anyone found any coverage of the surfing on the BBC? I thought I’d found it on “Day 4: Extra: Afternoon” – it said surfing in the programme description, but there wasn’t actually any in the programme… :-(

I had this dilemma recently I went Hope Pro 5 because (a) UK manufacturing and (b) I’ve seen quite a few DT Swiss hubs with horrible paint loss round the spoke holes.

@beargrease that was me quoting another poster, I’ve been in some odd pension situations but not that one!

I’m currently paying far more into my pension each month than I actually get in my salary ” cheque”, which is kinda weird.

    @thegeneralist
I’m sure you are, but just checking you are aware of the annual allowance? Tax on your private pension contributions: Annual allowance – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

I nearly fell foul of this a few years ago and had to pause my contributions mid-year.

oh that’s interesting, given the “modern” advice to keep moving and utilising the joints,

As with most bits of medical advice though, this is aimed at Joe Normal who will – with a diagnosis of arthritis – likely spend the rest of his life parked on the sofa doing nothing other than operating the fridge door and the TV remote.

There’s a big difference between “keeping joints moving” and doing something demanding day-in-day-out, like climbing, painting & decorating or (I guess) playing and practicising the guitar at a super high level.

Hoods/bars interface looks a bit off though – roll bars forward a bit and hoods back up a bit. The way the hoods roll into the bars on  @rocketdog’s bars look good. (Your wrists will thank you)

In contrast, I once decided (off my own back) to service my ex-girlfriend’s bike while she was away for a week, and – despite being a low-mid-range Giant and well-used over a few years – it was a delight to work on.

Bottom bracket threads copperslipped, generous amount of grease round the headset bearings, seatpost greased, etc.

No idea what was going on – I think it must have been originally built up on a factory inspection day.
