was planning on sticking my pikes on it, they are currently set at 110mm but I could pull the spacer out and run them up to 140

according to the website blurb it can run anything from 120 to 160, really wanted something that has a 17+ inch seat tube so I can ride it on the seat occasionally which rules out most jump bikes.

2.4 schwalbe fat alberts here, they come up slightly smaller than 2.35 kendas, grip better and roll much faster

Have you been to Lidl as well then Gary?

Got mine on Thursday, heres a few tips…

    1) Helmet is a must.

    2) Wear shin pads, it hurts when the pedals spin round and crack you on the shin.

    3) Dont let go of the wall straight away thinking it must be easy… the above will happen. 😳

This site has some good pointers, I’m thinking it might take a while to master the art so far I can manage about 2 pedal strokes before dismounting.

Does anyone know if fitting a fatter tyre will make it easier to learn?

Tossers… for riding straight past her.

Just for the record if I saw a lady in distress I’d stop to offer assistance straight away, especially if she was a looker 😉

Usually stop to offer help for anyone, wether it be mechanical or otherwise, you never know when you might need the favour returning. No doubt Karma will catch up with them one day.

Not really secret bikes as such, but every now and again she will ask where that one came from, Its usually something I’ve had for ages and she’s just not noticed.

Friday, riding at hamsterley with the mtbe crowd.
Saturday, probably a trip out with the wife and kids somewhere nice, maybe a castle.
Sunday, local ride on the morning, taking the kids swimming on the afternoon.
Monday, masterminding my plan for world domination, or of the weathers nice I might do something outside.

one of the other 27.2 options, as there is a few popping up now, is the Rase black mamba, I’m over 14 stone in all my gear and havent broke mine yet, oh and it also drops 9 inches so you can get the seat right out of the way if you want*

*cue the usual stw suspects “but you dont need to drop it 9 inches”

FFS people stop giving the guy a hard time, all he’s done is run a red light. I’ve been in a similar situation where the wifes waters broke and been faced with the decision of wether wait for an ambulance or jump in the car and get to the hospital. I jumped in the wifes car (didn’t want to get the seats diry on mine) and drove quicky and responsibly to the hospital. I didn’t need to run a red light on that occasion but if needed be I would have done a quick risk assesment and drove through if it wasn’t going to cause an accident. It is possible to get from a to b quickly and responsibly without causing an accident, ok there are drivers out there who might take undue risks but I dont for one minute think that is the case with sharbait.

All he’s done is put his family first which if faced with the same dilemma then I’m sure most reasonable people would do the same thing. There’s also the possibility that the camera is set to catch out anyone who even thinks about crossing the junction on amber.

A cut on the head isn’t exactly life and death is it? Depends how bad the cut is I suppose.

If you were so worried then dial 999, let those that know what they’re doing and have the right gear pass through the red lights.

Do you not have kids then?

If one of mine was injured like that I wouldn’t think twice about jumping a red light and I’d worry about the consequences later.

Probably still get a ticket though sharkbait allthough it might be worth writing them a nice letter saying sorry and explaining the situation, you never know.

Thanks for the advice NZCol, I was of the mindset that “It cant be worse than here”. Is it really worse than here, I doubt it, for a start you only have about 1/10 the population of the UK and from what I’ve heard from friends who have already emigrated they really enjoye the lifestyle out there. Now I dont expect to get away from all of lifes problems over here be it out of control youths, heavy handed police, crap weather* or whatever but I was hoping to find a bit less of it in NZ especially up in the mountains.

Anyway its just an option at the moment, I might find that dream job and lifestyle in this country.

crap weather*, ok the last few weeks have been an exception.

Should a decision be made that is incorrect then the Officer will be dealt with firstly under Police Regulations and should it be decided that criminal proceedings should be taken then they will.

No it wont, I imagine it will be swept under the carpet and no charges pressed like the one who managed to shoot an innocent man 7 times in the face. I’m guessing from your tone 2hottie that you are one of Gordons secret police, KGB, gestapo, whatever, its all been done before and I dont like seeing it happen in this country.

Picked up a camelbac skeeter in pink for my 4yr old at one of the one day bike sales. There’s not much room for storage but as a hydration pack its great. She loves it, in fact she had to wear it all day even when not on the bike.

so it wasn’t a good idea to stick my stw bar end caps on my easton cnt’s, actually I did think about it at the time and was careful not to over tighten them

Filthy; so you’d abandon your country?

Damn right I’ve been thinking about it for the past few years, tbh its the weather aswell, I’d like to live somewhere that has proper seasons. Quite fancy the idea of living in the NZ alps, open a little bike shop while the wife runs a cafe.

Or maybe I’m just trying to get out of paying my student loans back 😉

Plenty of clearance at the moment but its fairly dry round where I live, cant see it having any issues at the back and if its that clarted up to clog up at the front then I dont think I’d want to be pedaling anyway.

Fair enough on the snakeskin stuff, I was running a 2.25 racing ralph on the back but these feel a lot stiffer.

Just back from the first ride with these on.

    Excellent…

    Rolls well on tarmac.
Outstanding grip especially on off camber loose stuff unlike the panaracer rampages which used to break away far too easily.
Knobs look far enough apart for when it gets wet, cant really comment on that yet.
Snakeskin so I should see an end to pinch flats.

So they are tough, roll well, not too heavy and very grippy, cant find anything not to like about them really, well maybe the price.
