Yes private, and £1100 for a conversion with Genuine VW parts, could be done cheaper with non VW bits or less seats. I now have 3 in the front and a triple folding bench in the back.

    Couple of pics on Flickr[/url]

Next step.. chequer plate flooring, insulation and a bed that folds out over the folded bench seat

Paid less than that for my T5, took a few months of hunting to find the right one, aircon, mileage, windows seats etc. Actually couldn't find a kombi with aircon for the right money so I ended up converting a panel van.

Keep looking, something will come up… commercial vehicle auctions might be worth a look

    I prefer option F..

Look really hard so they dont want to have a go in the first place, obviously helps if you are over 6ft tall with a menacing expression. However if it happened to me I'd probably take option A only to avoid a criminal record.

Just what we need more cheap far eastern junk frames…

My suggestion learn how to build frames yourself, although unless your going to back it up with a lifetime warranty and give me the geometry I want than my money will still probably go into curtis' pocket.

But it would appear plenty of people seem to buy these cheap frames with questionable warranties, just look at the amount of cotics and on-ones about. Wether or not that business model is sustainable in the long term only time will tell.

2hr 35mins inlcluding a crash 6 miles in, sitting on the deck for 15mins and finishing the ride with a broken finger, that was my last ride out.

Anything under 2 hours is very quick, thats what I was aiming to beat, might have to have another go once the fingers healed

I can manual over stuff along the trail but haven’t mastered how to hold it. Oh and I’d like to stop falling off but I guess thats all part of pushing my skills to the limit.

Yes skate parks and bmx tracks are good too, its amazing how quickly they pick thinks up, and like gavtheoldskater said the most important thing is not to push them. Let them have fun, if he enjoys it he will more inclined to stick at it.

A full face might be worth thinking about, we got one after he face planted at the local dirt jumps. Still it doesn’t seem to have put him off.

Skate park on the jump bike…

He also road races on the local race track, which is run by the cleveland wheelers for under 18’s, in fact sometimes its quite difficult to get him to go anywhere without a bike.

3 bikes is normal for a 7 year old isn’t it? Actually thats one more than me, I shall have to redress the balance.

My Cannondale Rush fits the bill perfectly and didn’t cost me anywhere near 3k. If I was spending that kind of mony I’d get another one and build it even lighter and faster for racing, at the moment is a bit more hardcore weighing in at 28lb on 2.4 tyres.

I suppose the deciding factor would be how bumpy is the course, a Ti hardtail could well be quicker on smooth stuff but I’d still be riding full sus.

I’ve found the best way is not to ride with them but go for a walk instead. Let the little fella ride at his own pace and if he’s struggling up the hills you can give him a helping hand. My little lad is 7 and we ride together sometimes but mainly on flat stuff.

Managed about 10 miles yesterday, me walking (cant ride at the moment anyway, broken finger) and him zipping about on his bike. It gave me chance to help him with the steepish up and down bits.

We were on a cake mission and found some nice singletrack along the way…

My 661 evo’s have saved my knees twice now and I forget I am wearing them after a couple of minutes. Very good and keep your knees warm too, although I’m not sure how hot they will be in the summer.

    Oh Cock

Just got back from the fracture clininc, its worse than I initially thought, a lump of bone has come away at the knuckle. There was talk of surgery but thankfully the consultant changed his mind. I’ve got to wear a mallet splint for at least the next 3 weeks then go back for another look. He’s re-set the bone and x-rayed it in the splint, hopefully it will mend quickly.

I might try some spinning classes or set the turbo trainer up in order to keep my legs in shape, he was very clear about no mountain biking until he sees me next time, didn’t mention anything about trekking down fireroads on the singlespeed though 🙂
