Top fuel V8 with a mahoosive charger on it… more of a feel than a sound, I quite like the sound of a flat 4 too but it has to be in a VW not a scooby with a stupid phssst valve

They have arrived, just fitted them and well, they are round black and knobbly, will report back in the morning after my early ride.

Went for the 2.4 evo snakeskin flavour, front and rear specific.

Reminds me why I dont like riding bikes on the road, they are quite clearly full off cocks in cars, would people behave the same way if they didn’t feel safe in thier little bubbles. I very much doubt it !

I drove back from glentress along the A68, kept thinking I was still on spookywood. I was even trying to tailwhip the car by shuffling on my seat 😳

Always drive within your limits is the order of the day… ride mtb as fast as you like, chances are no one else will get hurt that way. And always remember to distinguish between the two.

    Why I like the Rush…

It climbs like a hardtail with 2 clicks of propedal on, but there’s also the extra grip the rear suspension gives you. Out of the saddle uphill bursts dont have you wallowing around like you would be on a long travel bike. Even with a 50mm stem the front doesn’t wander and I can keep my weight forward on the steep climbs.
Long Epic rides dont leave you feeling as tired and beaten up as a they do on a hardtail bike. The weight isn’t a penalty at 27lbs, any lighter and it wouldn’t have the strength and planted feeling to get me back down the hills.
Its very well balanced and flickable when you point it downwards, just remember to switch the propedal off at the top of the hills. Long wheelbase and slack head angle keeps it stable at speed. It only really gets a bit lairy and short of travel in big rock gardens which would probably have you pinging all over on a hardtail anyway.

Get one and try a short stem and some fat tyres if you want something a bit more all mountainish.

Germany is the cheapest place to get them, and mine havent arrived yet so cant really comment but they get some good reviews.

So the world runs out of money and they print some more, what a brilliant plan, my 7 year old could have come up with that one. He could have probably come up with a better solution given another couple of mins too.

Politics its all just spin and BS isn’t it.

Vehicles that are based on the same floor pan doesn’t make them remotely similar!

But driving a leon/golf/A3, if you had your eye’s shut*, could you actually tell the difference. The old leon even had the same dashboard as the A3 so no needs to shut your eyes in that one.

*don’t try this anywhere (disclaimer for the numpties out there)

I think its Golf Jetta Eos Beetle Scirocco A3 TT Leon Altea Toledo Octavia that are all built on the same chassis, actually the beetle is still based on the old golf so that probably doesn’t count.

I agree, its much better than a bell, sneak up on walkers then a quick back pedal and they dive out the way usually shouting something like “why dont you get a bell?”

I’ve had tora’s set at about 100mm and then Pikes set at 110mm. Any 100mm ish DJ type fork should do the trick.

First they all need to get in the cab, then send the lightest person out to collect rocks or….

You would imagine they might be a bit of rope lying around the bus, they could lasso the gold and haul it to the front.

The obvious thing that annoys me though is the fact that instead of one person going to get the gold, they all try to shuffle down the bus, now if the rest of em had got far forward in the cab then one person could grab the gold and start throwing it up the bus.

Still its better than the crap american remake.

The normal evo knee guards are comfotable enough for long rides so the “lite” version should be even better. I managed to test mine down chapel gate on sunday and the d30 stuff did its job.

The Italian Job… what kind of ending is that, made me think for hours about how to get the gold off the bus.

I have a crappy old muddy fox explorer circa 1987, perfect for shopping and centre parcs. Have taken the good bikes before but ended up locking them in the lodge and walking everywhere. Maybe its just my distrusting nature.

I managed about 50 yards then decieded a nice walk was the order of the day. Although I did clear every other climb on the way round without dabbing but that jacobs ladder was something else.

Chapel gate… think that was the last descent we did, managed to test my knee pads on the way down. They did the job thankfully and I only have a nice little graze on my shin instead of a smashed knee. That’ll teach me to go too fast on trails I’ve never ridden before.

Oh and do people actually manage to ride up Jacobs ladder?

    I took 700!

Did you find time to ride the bike too?
I only took 18, probably could have taken a few more but I was too busy enjoying the ride and kept forgetting to get the camera out.

The rase post performed brilliantly round the peaks yesterday, did evrything it was supposed to do. Admittedly I didn’t need the full drop as I didn’t do anything too extreme but my local trails have some vertical sections where I need it right down to get the weight over the back wheel. Think mine only drops about 7 or 8″ as you set it to maximun height for the rider and there is the issue with bottle bosses on some frames but there is none fitted to the seat tube of my rush so no problems there for me.

34lbs not that heavy, I’d just get some lighter fast rolling tyres and you’ll notice the biggest difference.

Was indeed very nice today, glorious clear skys. I think a load of bogtrotters came down past us on one of the climbs.

I’d agree with all of that BearBack except…

I dont really use the Rush as the designer intended hence the 50mm stem, risers and fat tyres. I know its supposed to be an XC marathon bike but it gets used for everything except uplift days, building an Intense M1 for that. I’ve also found that when it gets really steep 5inches of gravity dropper isn’t enough.
