FWD is plenty enough for snowy roads if you have the right tyres, saying that the Skoda Yeti looks like it might fit the bill. I used to have a Ford Kuga, crap mpg, low to mid 30’s and you could barely fit a 20″ wheel bike in the back. The standard conti tyres weren’t up to much when the snow fell. I now have a FWD Transporter and that gets further than the Kuga when it snows, 16″ steel wheels for the winter with m+s tyres, 20″ alloys for the summer. Plenty of room for bikes too 😉

I do a bit of everything on mine, climbs well, comfy enough for day long jaunts, excellent downhill capabilities and even chuck it about in the skate park.

Definately not too slack for just riding around, in fact it feels just right as goldilocks said to the three bears.

I did a similar trip end of august, GT saturday, red and black, inners sunday, red and dh. Ragley blue pig was perfect.

Seconded, a good spesh dealer will be able to get one. I was after a 24″ allez for my lad a few years back, bikescene were going to get one, unfortunately they had sold out in the usa so ended up with something else. But most dealers should be able to get US market bikes, if they are really good they will even swap the brakes over.

My schwalbe 2.4 fat alberts are smaller than rubber queens, slightly bigger than vert pro’s. Dunno how much room is on the commencal but they fit reba’s with not a great deal of mud clearance

Honda vtec engines are a bit like hope hubs, you either love the sound or hate it, personally I think they sound like they are about to explode. I’ve driven a few of them, s2000, accord, and integra type r’s and they are absolutely useless unless you are in the power band which is way up the rev range.

Not for me I’m afraid but each to thier own, if you want to look like a boy racer chav get one!
