    60kg, run my 32c marathons at 65f/70r.
If i was running a more supple tyre and/or tubeless i’d go 10psi lower

Interested in the Crossmax Light, but I’ve never been sure if UST works as well with “normal” – in my case Schwalble TLE – tubeless tyres.

Perhaps someone could be along in a moment to enlighten me.Works perfectly well with my XKing’s and Easton UST rims. As far as I can tell, UST rim and TR tyre works just like a normal TR setup but without the need to faff around with sticky tape.

my observation of cycling in central Leeds, is that most, not all lycra clad (proper cyclists ;o)) are a law un to themselves.
most folk riding cheaper bikes, usually wearing a reflective tabard, with a rucksack (blokes riding to work) seem to adhere to road laws.

to clarify that, most lycra clad riders are tossers.Interestingly, my experience in Dundee is the exact opposite.

    Do it!
Weirdly as a firm advocate of 2x on my 29er as I need all the range and more.
For most of my UK road riding, I just find 2x a pita as my cruising speed coincides more or less with the gears you swap rings. I’m personally well up for 1x on my next winter bike.

You need to go to work to afford luxury items.

But not for very long. When all my basic needs are being provided, I only need to work for a month to get a flat screen tv, console and a basic MTB. Another month for a 2 year supply of tyres, sealant, energy drink and a few games for said console.
And that’s me sorted for 2-3 years.
Reckon I could handle working 1 month a year.

Another question – who here would quit their job if they had £500/mo basic income? Would you sit around all day watching telly?

With housing, food, transport and internet paid for then me, absolutely.[/quote]

    +1

I rather suspect the country would fall apart pretty rapidly. Govt has to get it’s money by taxing workers/businesses. Except give people the means to not need to work, and you’ll not be generating any tax from them.

Best replacement for an 800 is an 800, but you can’t get them any more.
Next best replacement is an 810, but I hear you can’t get them any more either.
So you are now in the joyous position of having to spend loads of money on something that doesn’t work very well.

i don’t think there’s much that combats picking up infection from explosive vomiting etc.

Keeping the zipper firmly done up in the first place

    Nitrogen would make more sense?
They sell it as an upgrade for car tyres as it leaks out more slowly (larger molecules?)

My XC bike was just telling me the other day that what it really needed was a bright orange step cast fork.
I told it to keep dreaming cos it was too expensive, but now I seem to have lost my excuse.

Some variation on the Raid Pyrenean would have to be a good contender.

Will need to pack your climbing legs though.

    Yes, but no.
It’s trying to hijack, but chrome is blocking it and popping up to tell me its done so – also on Android.

I think his point is that SPL teams get to play in the Champion’s League so get some good experience playing against better teams/world class players than Championship teams do.

Except during the season the regular league matches are against worse opposition with one or two exceptions. At least the players in the Championship are playing decent quality week in week out.
Personally, I think dumped into the Championship, Celtic wouldn’t necessarily get promotion at the first attempt. They’ve got some good performances in them, but whether they could step up to doing it every week immediately, i’m not so sure (but that’s probably a whole other thread).

Bit on the pricey side, but i’ve been tempted to try one of these:

Anyone have any experience with them?

Scotland are in much the same boat as England imo, a group of unremarkable players to choose from, except with roughly 1/10th of the population the talent pool is smaller which makes things rather tougher.

Kinda have to wonder if there is something fundamentally wrong with the way football is taught in the UK though as we seem to have an entire generation of mediocre unimaginative players.

    Recording to watch later.
I was made aware of the Celtman earlier this year, and it seems like the sort of pointless self torture that belongs on the bucket list.

    Harsh!

There is actually some good advice there though. Make sure you’ve got somewhere comfortable and warm* to take a break

*Last two years have reached low single figures. Steep climbs make you sweat, and when you stop you can get get chilled really quickly.

Lol, good, more fun for you the less help you needed to find it :D

I learnt recently at a team building exercise the answer to most of these types of puzzle is just a quick google away – although this one seems a bit daft in that google seems to be the only way to solve it

I think FSA do a new subcompact (48/32 iirc) may well be a direct swap.

Does seems a daft puzzle to give without the key to decrypt it. Unless its some sort of trap and anyone that breaks it will get a knock on the door from men in black suits.

Edit: There’s no need to hack it, the plain text is in a presentation

5 mins with google will tell you A) what it is, and B) what it says.
This may or may not be cheating.

    Hint: it’s encrypted

I’ve done Relentless twice, once solo (wrists failed at 15hrs) and once as a pair.
3 weeks to go, i personally recommend very little in the way of longer rides, base should be well established by this stage of the season, and there’s little you can achieve other than fatigue in 3 weeks.

My advice would be to spend 3 weeks fine tuning. It’s not a course where the traditional advice of pacing yourself and avoiding efforts above threshold works. Last two years its been a really hard course with multiple steep sections that force you into the red. Work on making efforts and recovering from them, and knowing what foods you can tolerate when being forced to work harder than you’d ideally like to.

Had a similar experience with a rapid rob, completely wore the rear out in next to no time.
Think Schwalbe in general wear quite quickly (although they claim this is much better with the new addix compounds).

If you want games you can just pick up and play for a couple of hours, you want a console, not a PC.
The main thing a PC has going for it are games with a whole lot of depth (ideally a low skill floor and high ceiling).
My general rule of thumb for PC games is if its not going to take ~500hrs to get half decent at, its not worth playing.

And yes, i appreciate that’s probably a bit sad!

Edit: FWIW, i’d have picked CoDWW2 and TotalWar Warhammer II

Not usually any obscure cravings after a normal ride, but pizza is quite a common craving after a long ride.

@jimjam, stop sulking and post a drawing already!

@redthunder, really, some people just cant draw.
I’d probably manage to make a mess of stegosaurus step 1, and by step 4 – well that’d be game over.
My drawing skills are such that my primary school teacher screwed up my best efforts and threw them out

Protection will go tubeless – little effort scrubbing tyre and doing turn/shake to get it set up, but once set up is pretty good.
Racesport is not supposed to be tubeless, but I think probably will work, but only hold air for about as long as a race.

Taking a look at the path in question, it looks a bit rubbish getting on/off at either end of it, but nothing obvious as to why you wouldn’t use it.

I’d also have a Trail King over a MK2 for exactly the same reasons as above.
For me, the MK2 2.4 only really ‘works’ as a soft conditions tyre. The lack of braking grip is due to a lack of surface area (small widely spaced knobs on a very rounded carcass).
Seems to be a fairly common complaint as by the looks of the new MK3 they have taken steps to correct these flaws and make it back into more of an all rounder.

Between myself and riding group, we’ve had a fair bit (100+ items) of Endura kit as they gave us a nice deal for a charity ride.
Impression I have is good quality kit in well thought out materials that work well for price point/intended use.
In all that stuff, we had two items labelled (and hence sent) with the wrong size, and one dodgy seam.

As others have said, need to check breathability ratings of materials – unless you are super fit, you’re going to need a top spec jacket to ride at that sort of speed without getting wet from the inside.

I’ve heard there might also be some muddy water and some fallen leaves and acorns near where I’l be riding, will these adversely affect my ride?

These should not adversely affect your ride, as surely you have your manservant run ahead to clear the trail and lay carpet over any damp sections.
